Wild Shoe Wednesday: Rodarte’s Medieval-Inspired Spring 2013 Collection
September 26th, 2012 by Fashion StaffRodarte has stolen our hearts with the shoes from their Spring 2013 collection. This chunky heel platform sandal that hits at the ankle came in a variety of brilliant colors to tantalize our senses and stimulate our fashion eye.
Yellow, grey, and black with a reflective metallic patch on the front graced a pair of heels while a softer, more feminine peach color paired with black and metal hardware on a strap right above the toes exposes more of the foot.
This is the perfect shoe for looks that has a lot more edge and creativity behind them seeing as that they were featured in a collection inspired by dungeons and dragons. Does this futuristic shoe have a future gracing your fashion-forward closet? Sound off below and let us know.

HP & Anya Ayoung-Chee Highlight Fashion & Technology During New York Fashion Week!
September 14th, 2012 by ChristenOne of my favorite highlights during New York Fashion Week had to be the HP Style event featuring an exclusive preview of Project Runway winner Anya Ayoung-Chee’s Spring runway collection. HP was back in New York for Fashion Week helping Anya Ayoung-Chee unveil her first collection since winning Project Runway Season 9 and the Intel & HP design challenge.
Anya gave guests a personal tour of her new Spring 2013 collection - “Carnival of Colour”. The collection, inspired by the eclectic Harlem area of New York City features beautiful bursts of colorful jumpers, floor length gowns & jackets.
Talk about a fun afternoon filled hors d’oeuvres and drinks at Morimoto NYC! Top fashion bloggers and stylists came together to fuse technology and fashion by styling her collection on HP’s newly announced HP PCs and designing custom textiles with HP TouchSmart PCs like the designers on Project Runway.
“Don’t I look completely engulfed in the designing process? This is serious business!”
This was my first time ever designing textiles, specifically using the HP TouchSmart PC and I have to say, it was super easy and super fun. I decided to create a D&D inspired textile using gold & black colors…After creating my design, I got a chance to print it out and create my very own custom Starbucks tumbler similar the this one below…
In addition to textile design, I got a chance to style a few of Anya’s “Carnival of Colour” looks via Polyvore for a chance to win an HP Pavilion dv6 PC with Beats Audio. (Check out all the styled looks on Polyvore via the #HPStylesAnya hashtag.)
The fun continues well after the event, right now you can check out the textile designs on HP’s facebook page, all of the styled looks on Polyvore as well as more photos from the event too. Looking for more of Anya’s collection? Check out Anyaayoungchee.com
‘Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf’s’ Screening Celebrates 111 Years Of Fashion
September 13th, 2012 by ChristenBringing New York Fashion Week to a close, New York’s fashion elite emerged from a week of shows & presentations to come together in celebration of Bergdorf-Goodman’s 111th Birthday and film screening at Paris Theatre. ‘Scatter My Ashes At Bergdorf’s’ presented by Cadillac is a 90-minute documentary that paints a portrait of Bergdorf’s past, present and future.
If you’re anything like me, the moment you step into 5th Ave and into Bergdorf-Goodman’s you feel overwhelmed from the sheer force of luxe fashion royalty gracing each floor (then you take a look a a price tag or two and reality quickly sets in…) However, there is no doubt that no other retailer can match the luxury that Bergdorf’s provides thousands of New Yorkers, tourists & foreign clients daily.
Including a collection of 175 of its directors, clients, employees, designers and wannabe designers share their experiences and fondest memories of New York’s finest retailer of glamour, sophistication and fashion. Directed by Mathew Mielle, the film also included guest appearance by iconic designers Michael Kors, Dianne Von Furstenberg, Vera Wang and more.
Following the screening, guests including June Ambrose, Bevy Smith and more were treated to an exclusive post shindig next door at Bergdorf-Goodman’s.

Rachel Zoe Flaunts Another Season Of Classic Effortless Style
September 13th, 2012 by ChristenWhen it comes to effortless nighttime glamour, fashion stylist-turned designer Rachel Zoe knows the ends and outs! Using a variety of shades from orange, light blue, ivory and more each look represented her classic “Zoe” style from the crown with stylish hats to the floor length skirts and gowns.
Most shirts and pant suits were monochromatic in look and flowy in all of the right areas. One of the looks had a scarf tied around the head instead of a hat which made the entire outfit stand out from the fleet of fedora paired fashions.
Each look expressed an element of 70′s style to the fullest and were quite unique. Be on the look out for more celebrities and fashionistas tailoring their looks with a certain Rachel Zoe flair and chic look.
NYFW Katya Leonovich Spring/Summer 2013 Extraterrestrial Voyage
September 12th, 2012 by Fashion StaffKatya Leonovich took her audience on a colorful voyage during her SS 2013 Collection for New York Fashion Week. The calming use of sea green, blue, and gray charmeuse, chiffon, and silk was awe-inspiring.
Her collection, which was filled with unique prints, leather cut and hand, painted leather, and reverse peplum jackets absolutely, stunned the crowd. Models wore minimal makeup and sky-scrapping chignons accented by jeweled headbands. The line, a mix between extraterrestrial and fantasy may be a bit hard for some to understand, but offered many trends to look out for next year.
