3 Reasons Why The Droid Ultra By Motorola Is The Go To Smartphone For The Holidays

December 12th, 2013 by Christen

There are so many smartphone options nowadays, more options than ever before.  For the first time in history, consumers aren’t limited to strict molds of what a smartphone should look like, feel like or do. With so many options aside from the latest iPhone or Galaxy giants – it’s easy to get lost in a sea of smartphones available at multiple carriers.  That’s why we’ve compiled these 3 reasons to consider the Droid Ultra by Motorola from Verizon Wireless this holiday season.

Droid Ultra by Motorola

1.  Great holiday photos with Clear Pixel.

Clear Pixel is a system that adds in a fourth “clear” pixel to the standard RGB pixel arrangement to make a so-called RGBC sensor, which lets in more light and therefore creates more impressive holiday pictures.

2.  Fast & Convenient holiday shopping (online & in stores) with Isis.

Isis uses NFC technology which enables customers to wave their phone at special cash registers to pay for anything including quick bite to eat or cab ride across town.  Isis isn’t just a digital wallet either, it can also improve your shopping experience with freebies, discounts and more. Discover how Isis can improve your last minute shopping duties HERE.

3.  Keep the holiday fun going with great battery life.

The Droid Ultra does a great job of not using up power while in “idle” mode, the Active Display means you’re turning on the screen less often to check your notifications, (which helps on battery life) and with an overall talk time of 12hrs+ you can keep the holiday fun going non-stop without interruptions all season long.

Now the thinnest 4G LTE smartphone is also one of the strongest.  Take on your day with touch less control and an active display.  Capture pictures with the simplified camera and share them quickly with the exclusive Droid Zap.  The Droid Ultra by Motorola is stylishly thin, sleek and at $99 from Verizon Wireless (with 2-year contract), it’s a great buy to consider this holiday season!  For more on the Motorola Droid Ultra visit VerizonWireless.com.

LG’s Latest Smartphone the LG G2 Now on Verizon Wireless

September 16th, 2013 by Analie

The highly anticipated LG G2 is now available on Verizon Wireless. Last month LG announced the LG G2 and we had a great first impression of it. The phone is unique in which the home button is located on the back side, that’s right, the back side of the phone. The volume rocker surround the home button. LG thinks that the phone will feel more natural that way. The LG G2 is now available on Verizon Wireless!

When playing around with the LG G2, I was surprised at how comfortable the phone felt, even when using the home button at the unusual place. But that was only for a few minutes. I will see how it is on a day to day basis when we get our review unit in.
Check out our first impressions of the LG G2 HERE

Verizon Announces HTC One is Coming!

June 4th, 2013 by Analie

Verizon is rarely the first carrier to carry a flagship phone. When the HTC One was announced back in February, we learned that it was the first flagship phone from the manufacturer that would be carried across all major carriers –except Verizon. Verizon Wireless customers would have to resort to the HTC Droid DNA (which isn’t a bad phone at all). But many were feeling left out. There were rumors of HTC’s next phone on Verizon being called the HTC DNA +. Those rumors are finally put to rest now!

It Can Wait Campaign Grows - Backup From Sprint, VZW, T-Mo & More - 23 - logo

As you may already know, we’re big fans of the “It Can Wait” movement here at Divas and Dorks. Originally sponsored by AT&T, the It Can Wait campaign encourages smartphone user to stop texting and driving. The fever has caught on and now other companies are joining in spreading the word!

Now joined by Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile, the It Can Wait campaign is getting stronger. It doesn’t just have the support of these carriers, there are 200 other companies that are spreading the word.

Texting while driving is a deadly habit that makes you 23 times more likely to be involved in a crash,” said AT&T Chairman & CEO Randall Stephenson. “Awareness of the dangers of texting and driving has increased, but people are still doing it. With this expanded effort, we hope to change behavior. Together, we can help save lives.

The summer-long initiative kicks off on May 26th and will be supported by a new national advertising campaign featuring people who are living with the consequences of texting while driving, a large-scale nationwide texting-while-driving simulator tour, major retail presence in tens of thousands of stores, and more. The campaign, aimed at educating drivers to change behaviors that will ultimately help save lives, will run throughout the summer months between Memorial Day and Labor Day, deemed by AAA as the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers.

Texting while driving is an epidemic, and it’s not isolated to teen drivers. It affects adults as well. A recent AT&T survey shows business commuters know texting while driving is unsafe, but they still engage in these behaviors. In fact:

They are texting and driving more than they used to.

  • Six in 10 commuters said they never texted while driving three years ago.

Nearly half of commuters admit to texting while driving, which is more than teens.

  • 49 percent of commuters self-report texting while driving, compared to 43 percent2 of teens.

Despite knowing the risks.

  • 98 percent said sending a text or email while driving isn’t safe.

For many, it has become a habit.

  • More than 40 percent of those who admitted to texting while driving called it a habit.

It Can Wait Campaign Grows – National Day of Action

The highlight of the summer campaign will be a national day of action on Sept. 19. On that day, It Can Wait advocates will reach out in their communities to raise awareness of the risks of texting while driving, encourage everyone to make a personal commitment not to text and drive and recruit others to join the growing ranks of advocates dedicated to saving lives by ending texting while driving.

Yesterday evening, T-Mobile announced a similar statement but with a bit more clarity on when their subscribers can get theirs.  T-Mobile’s delay is due to inventory shipping delays.  They are only delayed by 5 days as online sales continue on the 29th while the launch is still happening on May 1st…for now.

On a more positive note, Verizon announced that they will begin taking pre-orders for their Galaxy S4 starting today.  Hopefully that means within two weeks, VZW subscribers can enjoy their Samsung Galaxy S 4 along with everyone else.   Pricing for the 16GB model version of the phone will begin at $199 ($249.99 w/ a $50 mail-in rebate).
So be patient Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon subscribers, it’s coming.  While AT&T users will get their Galaxy S4 before everyone.
