Did you know that twice a year, there’s a way to optimize your smartphone and tablet speeds? Hey iPhone users, have you been noticing that your iPhone is running a little sluggishly lately? It’s highly possible your speeds are getting bogged down with unnecessary things in your storage — like your Safari cache. Some may argue that your Safari cache actually helps you load pages faster, and that’s true… but the trade-off is you may find that your phone has slowed down. It’s also possible that due to an bulky cache that hasn’t been cleared since the beginning of TIME, you phone gets confused and your pages don’t load correctly.
How To Increase Your iPhone Speed
Simply go to Settings > Safari and scroll down to “Clear History and Website Data.” When you tap on that, a pop-up notification will alert you that “Clearing will remove history, cookies, and other browsing data.”
To translate this into layman’s terms: It erases documentation of all the sites you’ve surfed on your browser. It also deletes cookies, which are essentially messages that go from an Internet server to your web browser that help identify you (i.e. provides your login info or customize your pages). Also, it gets rid of other data like the time you visited, page titles, etc.
Just confirm you want to clear all that out and voilà! You’ve made your iPhone/iPad just a tad faster.
Need a little more speed? Try it out and let us know in the comments how well it works for you!

Roku 2: Whether they’re cord-cutters or “cord nevers,” many younger people aren’t signing up for expensive cable TV subscriptions — which makes mini streaming boxes like the $70 Roku 2 a perfect gift. It leaves off the headphone jack and voice-control option on the included Wi-Fi remote, but otherwise performs as well the step-up Roku 3, which is why we call the Roku 2 the best Roku for the money. It still streams great services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO Go, Amazon Instant, Watch ESPN, Vudu, YouTube, Sling TV, and literally hundreds of other channels — most of which, of course, require separate subscriptions or fees. The Wi-Fi remote — which doesn’t require “line of sight” to the player — also includes a headphone jack for private listening.

“Hey! Are those iPhone charging jeans you’re wearing?” Sure it doesn’t roll off the tongue quite like those Bugle Boy jeans commercials from back in the day, but these new smart jeans may just be the newest addition that you’ll want to add to your closet asap.
A new denim line from Joe’s Jeans, called the #Hello jean, tries to solve both the problem of charging your iPhone and stylish jeans that’ll fit your iPhone at once. The jeans, which don’t come cheap for $189, have a special opening above the traditional back pocket for a battery pack, which charges your iPhone 5, 5S or 6 in another special pocket alongside the charger opening.
The charging pocket works with the help of a USB cord hidden along the seams and connects to a small portable battery pack, which is an additional $49. Meanwhile, the iPhone fits into the back pocket and can fuel up on battery power (hopefully, without someone noticing — or snatching it away). Just remember to remove both components before throwing the jeans in the wash.
Although the premise is a nice idea, don’t think you’ll get to leave your chunky portable chargers at home ladies. The charger with the new #Hello jean will barely charge the iPhone 5 and 5S up to 85%, and charges the iPhone 6 up to 70%.
What do you think? Is rocking a new pair of phone charging smart jeans for $189 in your immediate future? Share in the comments section below!
The National Society of Black Engineers has announced the dates and locations for its 2015 Summer Engineering Experience for Kids program, or SEEK. Founded in 2007, SEEK is the nation’s largest summer engineering program geared toward African American pre-college students.
SEEK participants engage in team-based, competitive engineering design activities and learn science, technology, engineering and math concepts under the guidance of SEEK mentors: NSBE college student members from across the U.S. The ultimate goal of the program is to increase the number of college engineering students and engineering professionals among African Americans, a community starkly underrepresented in this field.
Neville Green, NSBE’s national chair, said in a release that “Increasing the STEM proficiency of black students in grades 4 through 8 is a must for NSBE to achieve its primary goal, which is to produce 10,000 black engineers annually in the U.S. by 2025.” Green is a chemical engineering senior at the City University of New York. “Expansion of SEEK is a major part of our plan to reach that number.”
The program is expanding into four new cities: Birmingham, Alabama; Boston; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Los Angeles.

Are you looking for a pressure-free shopping experience to experience the latest in computing, tech and accessories? While most (79%) of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna. That’s why Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S.
The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they’ve only heard about.
Averaging 240 square feet, the Intel Technology Experience will show customers the power of Intel: the technology behind these new, innovative activities is the same power behind the devices like tablets and laptops we love and rely on every day. Customers can build and print their own 3D robot, show off their racing skills on Mars in an augmented reality world, master beats and remix tracks by Ne-Yo as a digital DJ, and check out the latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel processors.
The area is be staffed by specially trained Best Buy Blue Shirts to answer questions and help customers make the most of each area within the experience. Each season, Intel will refresh the venues with a new array of technology experiences.

I love saving money and I love saving it with as little planning as possible. So when Walgreen’s asked me to share my experience saving money on the spot with the Walgreen’s App and paperless coupons, I was ecstatic to share – because I know you’ll be excited once you see how you can save money instantly too!
Remember the extreme couponing craze from years ago? I’ve never been a big coupon clipper but I am jealous when I see pantries filled with groceries and cleaners on a five dollar budget! Now, the art of couponing has been revolutionized on a smartphone app, so that people like you and I can save money too! Since I don’t do much pre-planning when it comes to last-minute shopping at Walgreen’s – I like to scroll through the app while shopping in the aisles in order to catch a money saving coupon for items I’m currently shopping for in-store.
What is the Walgreen’s App and paperless coupons all about? The Walgreens paperless coupons are basically manufacturer eCoupons that can be ‘clipped’ to your own Balance Rewards account and redeemed when you purchase to product. That means, no more reading through Sunday’s paper for coupons or sifting through the in-store circular to find the best deals. Simply download the Walgreen’s app, add your Balance Rewards number and discover your eCoupons right there on your smartphone. To redeem simply scan your Balance Rewards Card (via the App on your phone, the actual card or by punching in your phone number) at checkout and it automatically is applied. Say goodbye to Sunday paper scissor sessions cutting up coupons or remembering to bring them to the store.
Be sure to sync your Balance Rewards membership to the Mobile App to get started. Each paperless coupon can only be used once. Once it is redeemed it will be deleted from your coupon list. Just by using my Walgreen’s App and paperless coupons I saved close to $20 during my most recent visit shopping for items like Body wash, shampoo, mouth wash, vitamins, and laundry detergent! As if you needed another reason to love saving money at Walgreen’s, when you use your Balance Rewards card you can earn cash towards your purchases too! That’s even more money saved! That’s money that can be used to invest towards my next vacation, to buy anew pair of stylish shoes or more! I can’t wait to see how much I save on my next visit.
How much do you hope to save using the Walgreen’s app and paperless coupons this week?
