Apple’s New iPad Event And Announcements (What You Need To Know)

October 16th, 2014 by Christen iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 Meet the newest members of the Apple ecosystem family, the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. ipad air 2 ipad mini 3

Meet The iPad Air 2

The new iPad Air 2 is thinner than a pencil.  No really.  It's 6.1mm thin.  It's the thinnest iPad ever made - making it the world's thinnest tablet EVER.  (It's so thin that you can stack two of them on top of each other and together, they're still thinner than just one original iPad.) ipad air 2   iPad Air 2 is powered by the new Apple-designed A8X chip, which delivers a 40 percent improvement in CPU performance and 2.5 times the graphics performance of iPad Air, and still delivers the up to 10-hour battery life users expect while working, playing games or surfing the web. Combined with Metal™, the new graphics technology in iOS 8, the A8X chip unlocks realistic visual effects comparable to the most advanced gaming consoles. iPad Air 2 also includes the M8 motion coprocessor that gathers motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and an all-new barometer which senses air pressure to provide relative elevation. ipad air 2 Touch ID gives iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 users a simple and secure way to unlock iPad with just the touch of a finger, plus the ability to authenticate within apps to better protect logins and data. Touch ID can be used as a secure way to approve purchases from the App Store?, iTunes Store® or iBooks Store?, and with Apple Pay, when paying for physical goods and services within apps.

Innovations to the iSight and FaceTime HD cameras in iPad Air 2 enable better photos and videos, with an 8MP sensor and advanced optics in the iSight camera to help capture rich, detailed images and add new features including panoramic in Photos, time-lapse video, slo-mo and 1080p HD video. The FaceTime HD camera now captures over 80 percent more light than iPad Air’s camera, and features burst mode as well as HDR stills and video. With thousands of powerful apps that take advantage of iPad’s amazing cameras and large Retina display viewfinder, iPad becomes a tool that can scan and annotate documents, help study the sky above and provide athletic performance analysis—all with just a tap.

iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 come in three metallic finishes including gold, silver and space gray, and customers in 29 countries and territories can order online starting tomorrow - Friday, October 17. Pad Air 2 with Wi-Fi models will be available for a suggested retail price of: $499 for the 16GB model, $599 for the 64GB model $699 for the 128GB model. iPad Air 2 with Wi-Fi + Cellular models $629 for the 16GB model, $729  for the 64GB model and $829 for the 128GB model. ipad pricing     iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi models $399 for the 16GB model, $499 for the 64GB model and $599 for the 128GB model. iPad mini 3 with Wi-Fi + Cellular models will be available for a suggested retail price of $529 for the 16GB model, $629  for the 64GB model and $729 for the 128GB model.   iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini, available in silver or space gray, are offered at now more affordable prices. iPad Air starts at $399 for the 16GB with Wi-Fi model, iPad mini 2 starts at $299 for the 16GB with Wi-Fi model, and iPad mini starts at $249 for the 16GB with Wi-Fi model. Although the new iPads are equipped with improved camera features, graphic display and touch id, I'm disappointed that it isn't NFC equipped to handle the pay and go Apple Pay feature that's launching (and available on iPhone 6 / 6 Plus devices) on Monday. Would you use Apple Pay on the new iPad?  Are you thinking about purchasing the new Apple tablet soon?  Share your thoughts below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear Watch Specs and First Impressions

September 4th, 2013 by Analie It has been leading up to this for a while now. The Samsung Galaxy Note II just turned 1 year old in the last week of August. The Galaxy Note 3 is finally here. Just like many expected. Samsung announced three new Galaxy products. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, The Galaxy Gear, and a new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.
We had a chance for some hands-on time with the devices. I can't believe the Galaxy Gear is finally here. Check out the specs on the devices below:
The highly anticipated Galaxy Note 3 smartphone is of course bigger and better. This powerhouse devices begs for multi-tasking and note taking.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Samsung Galaxy Gear
Display: 5.7-inch AMOLED 1,920x1,080 resolution; 386.5ppi
Cameras: 13 megapixel rear-facing camera / 2.1 front facing camera
Processor / RAM: 2.3GHz quad-core (LTE) / 1.9 GHz octa-core (3G) / 3GB RAM
Memory: 32 GB or 64 GB with MicroSD expansion slot
Battery: 3,200 mAh removable battery
Connectivity Options: bluetooth 4.0 / NFC / IR Blaster
Android OS: 4.3 Jelly Bean

How is the Galaxy Note 3 Different from the Galaxy Note II?

Well the camera has upgraded 5 megapixels. It has a much more powerful processor and 1 more GB of RAM.
The battery is a bit bigger as well. A big change is how it syncs with the Samsung Galaxy Gear. Lets talk more about that:

Samsung Galaxy Gear (Smartwatch)

The smartwatch is finally here. After many prototypes and rumors, the official Samsung Galaxy Gear was announced at Unpacked Episode 2. After playing wth it for a while, I am convinced that I need one in my life. It syncs nicely with the Galaxy Note 3 and allows you to do all those little things that we thought were too small for a phone to handle. For example, I lock my phone for privacy. Unlocking it becomes a bother, but with the Galaxy Gear, my Note 3 will unlock with certain actions. Check out the specs:
Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch compared to regular watch copy
Display: 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display at 320x320 resolutionCamera: 1.9 megapixel
RAM: 512 MB
Battery: 315 mAh Battery
Audio: 2 microphones / 1 speaker
Available Apps: Atooma, Banjo, Evernote, Glympse, eBay, Line, MyFitnessPal, Path, Pocket, RunKeeper, TripIt and Vivino Features: Smart Relay, S Voice, Auto Lock, Find My Device, Media Controller, Pedometer, Stopwatch, Timer
I was super excited to play with the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch. It's all about the little things. It has a camera, and quick notifications. It even has a set of apps that work well with it. I was pleasantly surprised. The Galaxy Note 3 has a gear manager for extra settings management of the watch. Some might find the watch a bit bulky, but with the features and specs, I think it's a decent size.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2012 - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
This Galaxy Note Tablet is a beast plain and simple. This 2014 looks great on paper. Check out the specs:
Display: 10.1-inch WQXGA (2560 X 1600) Super clear LCD
Cameras: 8 megapixel rear-facing camera / 2.1 front facing camera
Processor / RAM: 2.3GHz quad-core (LTE) / 1.9 GHz octa-core (3G) / 3GB RAM
Memory: 32 GB or 64 GB with MicroSD expansion slot
Battery: 8,220 mAh removable battery
Connectivity Options: bluetooth 4.0 / NFC / IR Blaster
Android OS: 4.3 Jelly Bean
The Galaxy Note 10.1 didn't seem laggy at all. They were brand new without much content on them. One of the new things you'll see is the Air Command Wheel. It allows you to choose from different tasks that you can do with the S Pen. The notification bar was very familiar to that of the Galaxy S 4 and Note 3. I like how you can divide the screen between 2 apps for true multi-tasking. That means you can even have the same app open in two windows. For example, chatting with two different people from the same messaging app, or two internet tabs open.

Earlier this Monday morning, they sent out the press release for their new 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.  Not much has changed between this and the Tab 7 2.  Although the Tab 3 shares the same design language as the Note 8.0 tablet, the internals are pretty much the same as last year's Galaxy Tab 2.0 model. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Specs:

Verizon And HTC Partners For NYC Launch Event

November 7th, 2012 by Tech Staff

Could HTC's answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note II be unveiled next week in NYC?  According to

Verizon will likely launch a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 competitor in the form of the HTC Droid DNA, a device that was once called the Droid Incredible X and whose codename is HTC DLX. The device, which looks like a smartphone of the phablet variety, will aim to take on the LG Intuition and the Galaxy Note 2 this holiday season. Here is everything that we know so far about the device. While Verizon already has one phablet, a name for a device that marries the features of a smartphone and tablet, out on the market in the LG Intuition, it seems as though it will be offering two other choices to consumers in the weeks ahead.
We'll have to wait to discover what Verizon and HTC has up it's sleeves for next week......
