Brighten up your Dreary Winter Wardrobe with Pops of Color
December 5th, 2012 by Fashion StaffAs temperatures begin to drop and sunlight gets shorter, color choices also take a nose dive. Summer/Spring bright yellows and happy pinks turn into dreary blacks and somber grays. In the more northern cities like New York and Chicago, people are less concerned with “making statements” and more concerned with keeping warm. Winter has effectively dampened spirits.
Fortunately, it does not have to stay that way. A number of colorful pieces can be easier incorporated into dull hues to provide “pops” of colors that will brighten any gloomy days. Read on for ways to incorporate pops of color to brighten your outfit and your mood.
Winter Coats
One of the easiest ways to add the color is to get a colorful coat. Designers like Milly Alexis are keen to the idea as well have made coats, like the one Leona Lewis is rocking, that will brighten any outfit immediately. Moncler also has a number of down coat that are meant to pop as well!
Bold Shoes
The ways to incorporate shoes to add pops of color are endless. Funky rainboots, bright pinks pumps, red ankle booties, bright oxfords…the options are endless. In an all-black outfit, shoes always add the perfect punch of color.
Bright Color Pants
Don’t be afraid to pop out your summer skinnies with a blazer. Those bright pants are the perfect way to add a splash of color without over doing it. They also double in keeping those legs warm!
Scarves
When in doubt, grab a scarf! They can be knotted, tied, or wore loosely around the neck. A vibrant scarf can be both practical in keeping you warm, and stylish in setting off your look.
Accessories
Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize! Your sunnies, nail polish, gloves all can serve as more settle ways to add pops of colors. A fresh mani and loud gloves, you can’t go wrong.
So don’t get stuck in the dull hues. Pack tons of color in your winter wardrobe and enjoy. Summer will be back before you know it!
NYFW: Son Jung Wan Spring/Summer 2013

If a raspberry, ivory, teal and gray color pallet is your thing then the Son Jung Wan Spring Summer 2013 was right up your alley for the next warm weather season. The show started with a Beautiful canary pleated dress that moved effortlessly down the runway. Embellished garments, knits and chiffon pieces caught our eye but the show stoppers were these 3D lace appliqué designs.
One of our favorite pieces included a blazer that was paired with ivory lamb skin shorts and there was even a 3D romper that grace the runway. Son Jung Wan is on our favorite list for sure. It’s been beyond hard, trying to stay cool outdoors – but desperate times calls for desperate measures and clearly this heatwave isn’t trying to play nice at all.
So how do you fight the fiery heat (while staying cool…)? Fight fire, with these fire-hot looks sure to keep you super cool.
1. The Maxi Dress – The maxi dress exudes an airy feeling of a beautiful breeze..(even if you’re standing in an 107-degree subway station…) Nothing is worse than feeling icky, sticky & sweaty and the easiest way to avoid that feeling is with the maximum breathable power of the maxi dress.

2. The Cotton Romper – If you’re not a fan of dresses and love to pick up and go – the cotton romper is for you! I have praised the romper comeback this season (I swear my rompers are a God-send) and there’s no easier way to stay cool & fashionable, than with an easy to accessorize cotton romper.
3. Halter / Strapless Tops – For those of you who like to mix it up – these separates will have you covered without revealing too much.
