Rachel Zoe Flaunts Another Season Of Classic Effortless Style

September 13th, 2012 by Christen

When it comes to effortless nighttime glamour, fashion stylist-turned designer Rachel Zoe knows the ends and outs! Using a variety of shades from orange, light blue, ivory and more each look represented her classic “Zoe” style from the crown with stylish hats to the floor length skirts and gowns.

Most shirts and pant suits were monochromatic in look and flowy in all of the right areas. One of the looks had a scarf tied around the head instead of a hat which made the entire outfit stand out from the fleet of fedora paired fashions.

Each look expressed an element of 70’s style to the fullest and were quite unique. Be on the look out for more celebrities and fashionistas tailoring their looks with a certain Rachel Zoe flair and chic look.

NYFW Katya Leonovich Spring/Summer 2013 Extraterrestrial Voyage

September 12th, 2012 by Fashion Staff

Katya Leonovich took her audience on a colorful voyage during her SS 2013 Collection for New York Fashion Week. The calming use of sea green, blue, and gray charmeuse, chiffon, and silk was awe-inspiring.

Her collection, which was filled with unique prints, leather cut and hand, painted leather, and reverse peplum jackets absolutely, stunned the crowd.  Models wore minimal makeup and sky-scrapping chignons accented by jeweled headbands. The line, a mix between extraterrestrial and fantasy may be a bit hard for some to understand, but offered many trends to look out for next year.

Carlos Miele’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ Spring 2013 Collection

September 11th, 2012 by Christen

When you think of the jungle, rarely do you imagine animal prints billowing in chiffon down a runway.  However, Carlos Miele’s Spring 2013 collection was just that, “a step into a hallucinatory jungle”.  Many of the luxe print evening gowns were accented with heavy beads, stones & fringe for as far as the eye could see.  The use of charmeuse, chiffon, color and patterns in Miele’s collection took you on a journey through a safari with looks reminicient of leopards, zebras and even modelesque giraffes.

The looks not only exudes animalistic glamour but with colors present such as blue, green, black and ivory this collection could be considered a tribal as collections can come. I could definitely look forward to fashionable celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Solange Knowles wearing these jungle-inspired designs next season but with some of his more elegant designs – it’s quite possibly that you’ll see a few of these daring looks on a red-carpet near you come awards season next year.

September 9th, 2012 by Fashion Staff

If a raspberry, ivory, teal and gray color pallet is your thing then the Son Jung Wan Spring Summer 2013 was right up your alley for the next warm weather season. The show started with a Beautiful canary pleated dress that moved effortlessly down the runway. Embellished garments, knits and chiffon pieces caught our eye but the show stoppers were these 3D lace appliqué designs.

One of our favorite pieces included a blazer that was paired with ivory lamb skin shorts and there was even a 3D romper that grace the runway. Son Jung Wan is on our favorite list for sure.  Check out a few of our favorite looks below that’ll give you a great outlook on what you’ll see from Son Jun Wan next year…

A calming mood was set at Milk Studios as “Manhattan” by Cat Power played and the lights dimmed low just in time for the first look for Costello Tagliapietra. The inspiring collection was filled with wonderfully ruched wrap dresses, beautiful draping, muted cool tones of blue, green, coral, and the duo designers unique “AirDye” dying technique. Hair for the show was tasseled and wind-blown while makeup for the models was slightly dramatic with a combined rosy eye and cheek look. Many of the collections ruching and pleated looks are very forgivable and will wear well on a variety of body types. The many day- to-night dresses will go over well with the busy working woman on the go. Overall once this RTW collection will be wearable once it hits the store shelves early next year.

Time To Spring Clean Your Beauty Regime…

April 17th, 2012 by Christen

Thanks to Walgreens for underwriting this post. I was paid as a member of the Clever Girls Collective, but the content is all mine. Visit

If you’re still not convinced that Spring is here to stay (even after a near 90-degree day in New York City on Monday) look at your calendar, is it starting to look a bit fuller than usual?  A filled calendar is the true indication that Spring has Sprung and with weddings, parties, vacations and more isn’t it time you stepped up and spring cleaned your beauty regime?

The warmer it gets, the less likely you are to pile on the makeup – so let’s start with the foundation instead shall we?  Your hair, smile & skin.  A clean pallette is the ultimate accessory this spring and there’s no better way to enhance your natural beauty than with these skin cleaning must haves.

Clean. Get rid of dull winterized skin by exfoliating & getting a deep down clean with Neutrogena’s Microdermabrasion System.

Water.  Drink 8-10 glasses a day and watch mother nature purify your skin and rejuvenate your body from the inside out.

Go for bottled water or this handy filtered water bottle from Rubbermaid, either way they’re compact and can go with you anywhere!

Brighten.  Nothing says a healthier, more beautiful you than a nice bright smile.  No need to call a Dentist, your neighborhood Walgreen’s has tons of smile brightening options from at home kits, toothpastes & oral washes too.

Go Green (well sorta…) Did you know that there are hair styling tools that’ll give you a salon style without the use of a curling or flat iron?  Toss those hairstyling tools away for the season and try using hair rollers, rods & pins to create stylish looks for Spring.

With Spring’s busy event season in full effect, there’s no reason why you have to sacrifice time or convenience while on the road to becoming beautiful.    Check out a few of these bloggers and their stories on how to get fabulous in a flash, just in time for Spring’s busy event season…

  • ELZABELZ – I’ve been dreaming of hosting a really cool fancy dress party and wondering what I’d wear. Time for a post on Special Event Style! What? You don’t dream up parties and imagine the outfits you’d wear?
  • THE BABY SHOPAHOLIC – If you have been reading my blog longer then a week you know I attend a lot of different types of events. Remember Mister’s big Movie Premier? In my head, I hype it up like I am going to hit the E!
  • MINORITY WEIRDOS – The great thing about being a lady is that we have so many options for our personal beautification projects from different colors, foundations to cleansers and more. It’s so much to decide on and make good decisions about.
  • MUSHKI LOVES – Do any of you have special events to attend? What do you consider a special event? For me a special event would be going to a baptism for a niece or nephew. A church function or a family event, or going out for a date night with the hubby!
  • MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG – It used to seem like I had endless amounts of time to get all dolled up for different things, like parties, dancing and baby showers, but now? What I wouldn’t give to have a whole afternoon to get ready.
