Brighten up your Dreary Winter Wardrobe with Pops of Color

December 5th, 2012 by Fashion Staff As temperatures begin to drop and sunlight gets shorter, color choices also take a nose dive. Summer/Spring bright yellows and happy pinks turn into dreary blacks and somber grays. In the more northern cities like New York and Chicago, people are less concerned with “making statements” and more concerned with keeping warm.  Winter has effectively dampened spirits. Fortunately, it does not have to stay that way. A number of colorful pieces can be easier incorporated into dull hues to provide “pops” of colors that will brighten any gloomy days. Read on for  ways to incorporate pops of color to brighten your outfit and your mood.   Winter Coats One of the easiest ways to add the color is to get a colorful coat. Designers like Milly Alexis are keen to the idea as well have made coats, like the one Leona Lewis is rocking, that will brighten any outfit immediately. Moncler also has a number of down coat that are meant to pop as well!

Bold Shoes The ways to incorporate shoes to add pops of color are endless. Funky rainboots, bright pinks pumps, red ankle booties, bright oxfords…the options are endless. In an all-black outfit, shoes always add the perfect punch of color.

Bright Color Pants Don’t be afraid to pop out your summer skinnies with a blazer. Those bright pants are the perfect way to add a splash of color without over doing it. They also double in keeping those legs warm!

Scarves When in doubt, grab a scarf! They can be knotted, tied, or wore loosely around the neck. A vibrant scarf can be both practical in keeping you warm, and stylish in setting off your look.

Accessories Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize! Your sunnies, nail polish, gloves all can serve as more settle ways to add pops of colors. A fresh mani and loud gloves, you can’t go wrong.

So don’t get stuck in the dull hues. Pack tons of color in your winter wardrobe and enjoy.  Summer will be back before you know it!

Wild Shoe Wednesday: Keyshia’s Wild Statement With Charlotte Olympia

November 14th, 2012 by Fashion Staff Drooling over R&B diva Keyshia Cole’s style choices lately? WE HAVE! Celebrity stylist Olori Swank has elevated her look to another level making her one to look for when she’s expected to appear at an event. So when she hit the red carpet at the 2012 Soul Train Awards we were elated to see what Olori created for Keyshia. Keyshia Cole wore an Alexander Wang dress with Charlotte Olympia Bruce Enamel Leopard Sandals. Charlotte Olympia took a simple black peep toe heel and placed an enamel leopard atop of the toe. The Italian made shoe has a 5 ¾” heel with a 1 ¼” platform and an adjustable ankle strap.   This shoe is a great basic with a pop of fierceness thanks to the big cat perched on your toe, a small detail that true shoe love would swoon over, and if you are dying to steal some of Keyshia’s style you can head over to Neiman Marcus to purchase the $1485.00 pair of heels. Ladies would these heels pounce into your closet, and are you feeling Keyshia Cole new look, sound off below!

Celebrate WithoutSole’s 3rd Annual Sneaker Ball Fundraiser In ATL

October 30th, 2012 by Tiffany

What happens when you gather a bunch of influencers for an amazing cause?

This will be the third year Initial eVennts hosts its annual Sneaker Ball in hopes of announcing the month long collection of thousands of shoes. The Sneaker Ball is the finale event to the Without Sole shoe campaign, which is a 30 day push through the month of october to collect 12,000 shoes. Initial eVennts' co-founders Evan Eskridge and Oluwatoyin Salami decided to put together multiple talents as a call to action. “We wanted to be the change we wish to see -a group of young people doing something for nonprofit instead of looking for profit. Pave a different path.”  Which in turn created the Without Sole campaign that is spreading across the globe.

This mission is particularly interesting because it’s shoes instead of clothes, like most charities. Oluwatoyin Salami (Co-founder) decided on shoes because her father is from Nigeria and told her stories of him being six years old and having to mow someone’s lawn just to get a pair of shoes. His family couldn’t afford to buy him any and without shoes he wouldn’t have been able to continue in school. Her father is now a doctor, and she finds it empowering to think that these pair of shoes could be the foundation for many kids to go to school and become future doctors, lawyers and teachers. People often take shoes for granted and don't realize that without shoes there's not only discomfort but some major hindrances, like going to school, work and other public places that are vital for success.

The non-profit does a variety of events within the community throughout 30 days of October. The Sneaker Ball  is an annual event where the sum of shoes collected throughout the campaign is announced. Anticipation builds each year as the amount of shoes collected grows. Last year 5,500 shoues were donated and distributed to those in need. This event is a very trendy event in which everyone dresses up, but wears their favorite sneakers. Everything at the ball will be fresh from the shoes, to the mindset, to the food. "Being as this is the finale everyone should have a fresh mindset with our mission in mind and the hard work under our belt. The food will be fresh as well from Organic vendors." It's the launch of a new life for someone some where else and the launch of a new way of thinking for the locals.   Majority will benefit the homeless population in Atlanta, but will ultimately touch people globally that are otherwise unable to obtain a single pair of sneakers. U-Haul and TIWAWORKS are two returning sponsors again this year. New sponsors include Enterprise, Black Tie BBQ, RiousDesign, Vinnie's Styles, and others.   The Sneaker Ball will be held on Friday, November 2nd at the trendy Goat Farm in northwest Atlanta - tickets are $10 online/$20 at the door and donations will be accepted for those that still want to donate.  Visit for complete donation locations, event ticketing and information, as well as sponsor and organization information.

Could Aldo’s Trade You A Pair Of New Shoes For Instagram Pics Of Your Old Ones? (We Hope So!)

October 23rd, 2012 by Christen
What if Aldo told you that they'd give you a pair of new shoes, for a photo of your old ones - you'd think there's a catch, right?
Montreal-based footwear brand Aldo staged a charming out-of-home campaign in Israel, inviting passersby to snap a photo of their shoes, upload the photo to Instagram with their shoe size and the hashtag #aldo, and ring a bell. In two minutes, a large, rolling present box then appeared, containing — as you might have expected — a new pair of Aldo shoes in their size. The bell was rung more than 450 times and 500 photos were uploaded to Instagram, producing nearly 800,000 interactions, the Israeli creative agency who produced it, Smoyz, says. Now if only Aldo would do that in the US... specifically in NYC!  Although not impossible, we have to wonder... If Aldo's would trade you a pair of new shoes just for your Instagram photo - would you do it? (We hope so!)     via
