Five Reasons Why Buying The iPad Mini Is A BAD IDEA

November 2nd, 2012 by Tech Staff

It’s arrived in stores today with lack-luster thunder…yeah right.  Of course the masses will follow suit yet again and purchase Apple’s newest miniature iPad… Why? Because spending hard earned cash on anything Apple-related is always a great idea.. Right? WRONG..  Based on a few recent updates, redesigns and contrasts against similar mini tablets on the market, it’s safe to say that buying the iPad Mini today is a bad, BAD IDEA.

5.  The iPad Mini costs too much, ($329) especially considering the lower resolution of its 7.9-inch non-Retina Display. The A5 processor isn’t as robust as the one in the fourth-gen iPad and iPhone 5. Typing on the smaller screen is not quite as comfy.

4.  Based on numerous reports, crowds waiting in line at Apple retail stores are A LOT smaller than they have been in the past for other launches.  Which means that if there isn’t a great demand for the product, you probably shouldn’t be clamoring for one in your hands too soon.

3.  If you thought buying an iPad Mini today would get you the lightning speed you need, think again.  Apple isn’t launching the LTE-enabled iPad Minis until later in the month.  (Talk about a bait & switch…) This is a significant factor in analysts predicting WEAK opening weekend sales for the new device.

2.  Something as small as the iPad Mini should at least have multiple functions like the Galaxy Note II.  What’s the use of carrying a smaller tablet AND a smartphone if you don’t have to?

1.  Buying the iPad Mini opening weekend reinforces the idea that it’s okay to create updated versions of devices sooner than loyal consumers can afford them.  There are countless iPad 2 and even New iPad owners that will not be buying the iPad mini or 4th generation iPad because it’s too much, too soon.  Next thing you know, Apple will be expecting consumers to sell their first borns just to keep up with purchasing the production of new idevices…Good Luck With That…

What do you think?  Will you become a new iPad Mini owner this weekend?

High Heel or No Heel…Divas Can Even Strut In Sneakers

April 26th, 2012 by Christen

Fashion magazines, blogs and more are going insane for the latest trend to hit your soles this Spring!  High fashion sneakers are all the rage right now and we’ve even spotted the comfy trend on show goers during Fashion Weeks across the globe, where your highest heels are all but required. One part sneaker, one part high-heeled pump, their tongue-in-cheek kicks are every urban girl’s fantasy. Accessory brand BE&D has found a way to merge the stiletto and the sneaker in the unlikeliest of ways – women’s feet everywhere, shall now rejoice!

In case you’re “gun shy” about printed sneakers, check out the entire collection of BE&D BrightLight Big City sneakers below…

Be&D Brightlight Big City sneaker, $128, beandd.com.

Recently, I just scored this pair online for less than it’s promoted retail price.  Want to find out where AND nab a coupon code?  Check out DivasandDorks on Instagram for all the details! (or you can buy them on Amazon.com)

Make More Money By Selling Your iPhone 4 NOW!

October 3rd, 2011 by Tech Staff

Looking to sell your iPhone 4 and spend some of that money towards your new iPhone 5?  SELL NOW!

According to CNN, beating the potentially millions of folks who will be buying a new iPhone and selling their old one could put more money in your pocket.

While some retailers offer discounts for a trade-in (Radio Shack was offering $100 for some previous models when the iPhone 4 was released), Apple stores and their designated carriers generally don’t give back as much cash, or credit, as an owner might earn outside the store.

But a growing online resell market has emerged to give folks another option.

Between now and Monday, the day before Apple has scheduled an iPhone-related event, one of those sites, Nextworth, is offering $250 for 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4s that are in good shape.

The company, which also has trade-in programs at some retail stores, bills itself as a way to get value out of your aging electronics while keeping the products out of landfills, where they can cause environmental problems.

Gazelle.com is offering $250 for a 32GB iPhone 4 in “flawless” condition and $169 for one in good condition. Got a busted model? It’ll give you $85 for one even if it won’t turn on or is physically damaged.

Of course, there are always the direct-sale sites like eBay and Craigslist.  (I have a jailbroken iPhone 3GS that I’m willing to sale, but let’s face it, unless it’s an iPhone 4 or iPhone 5 – no one is even trying to hear it….lol.)

Saavy Shopper Moment: DVF/UGG

December 14th, 2010 by Christen

Everyone enjoys a good sale, right?  Especially if you’ve been eyeing a specific item – just waiting for it to come down off that retail sticker price.  Last week (before it got abnormally cold….) I lucked up on two fabulous finds that I just had to share with you.

The DVP Jacket I found at the DVP sample sale (and the price was such a steal – I would’ve been crazy to walk away from it.  (It was waaaaaaaaaaaaay less expensive than what you’d find it for at Nordstrom’s) And although its too cold to wear this as a winter coat (of course) this is a jacket that you can wear all year round!

Who says UGG boots are U-G-L-Y? These UGG leather Amberlee boots are pretty darn cute (for low-heel boots) and the detailed buckles, braided zipper and wooden heel makes it hard to tell that it’s actually an UGG boot (complete with furry in-soles.)  Note:  The fuzzy in-soles make these boots so comfortable, I was able to walk the entire day NON-STOP in NYC in those bad boys.  Don’t sleep on UGGs.  Trust me.
