NYFW First Look: Costello Tagliapietra Spring 2013

A calming mood was set at Milk Studios as “Manhattan” by Cat Power played and the lights dimmed low just in time for the first look for Costello Tagliapietra. The inspiring collection was filled with wonderfully ruched wrap dresses, beautiful draping, muted cool tones of blue, green, coral, and the duo designers unique “AirDye” dying technique. Hair for the show was tasseled and wind-blown while makeup for the models was slightly dramatic with a combined rosy eye and cheek look. Many of the collections ruching and pleated looks are very forgivable and will wear well on a variety of body types. The many day- to-night dresses will go over well with the busy working woman on the go. Overall once this RTW collection will be wearable once it hits the store shelves early next year.

Wild Shoe Wednesday: New York Fashion Week Fall 12 Edition

In the spirit of fashion week we decided to take a look at some of the best shoes to hit the runway last Feburary when the fall 2012 collections were revealed.
Some of our favorite sole designs included…
Nicholas Kirkwood for Prabal Gurung: The pony hair back and geometric platform sealed the deal for this shoe being on of the best for the Fall Season.
Rodarte: Its nothing better that a visually interesting shoe. These Rodarte booties will definitley get you noticed with the unique print featured front and center on this shoe.
Proenza Schouler: Another great bootie with more of a mascline edge with a touch of houndstooth.
Altuzarra: These boots were made for strutting, so give a little kick these your fine thigh high Altuzarra Boots.

Road to Runway Uncovered at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

A record of more than 30 international designers are expected in Miami Beach as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim kicks off today, July 19 at the Raleigh Hotel.

With many of the fashion industry’s top swimsuit designers showing off their most innovative collections during the five-day event, Mercedes-Benz will roll-out the new SL63 AMG and showcase its unparalleled capability to create bespoke vehicles out of the highest-quality paints, leathers and trims. The SL63 AMG is exemplary of pure performance and chic design – the iconic AMG roadster features an ultra-premium diamond white exterior with a red and black colorblocking luxe leather interior and hand sewn cross-stitching as well as a carbon fiber trim. The 19″ AMG Triple 5-Spoke Wheels with silver brake calipers and panorama sunroof make this vehicle the most eye-catching fashion statement to roll down Ocean Drive.
SL63 AMG will premiere on July 20 at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami
The SL63 AMG will premiere on July 20 at “Bespoke by Mercedes-Benz,” an event the brand is throwing on The Raleigh hotel pool deck. Hosted by Laure Heriard Dubreuil, Founder & CEO of The Webster Miami, and jewelry designer, Mary Kate Steinmiller, the exclusive invite-only media event will highlight the point of intersection between the worlds of fashion and luxury automobiles. Guests will take part in a “do-it-yourself” themed fashion project right beside the SL63 AMG.
With the help of the hosts, attendees will have the opportunity to create their own bespoke fashion accessories including jewelry, headbands, and clutches using Mercedes-Benz vehicle leather and other luxe materials. Mary Kate Steinmiller’s limited-edition Mercedes-Benz fashion accessories will be on sale exclusively at The Webster following the event.

From The Runway To Reality: Living The Kors Life Reality Show
June 13th, 2012 by ChristenMichael Kors announced the launch of “Living The Kors Life,” an ongoing, interactive, shoppable digital video and content series that will showcase
the rich mix of personalities—all with diverse lifestyles, fashion sensibilities, passions and life perspectives—who work at and wear Michael Kors. Available online now, the newly redesigned Destination Kors, the company’s digital content site, the first iteration of this large-scale global
initiative will star three women from the New York headquarters of Michael Kors, all working in different areas of the company and all reflections of the designer’s belief in the Michael Kors woman as an intriguing mix of casual and chic, sexy and glamorous, smart and funny.
As “Living the Kors Life” rolls out each season, a new cast of women from within the company will be introduced, with the goal of scaling the series globally to include Michael Kors employees from the company’s worldwide offices and shops. Content will also be translated across international markets eventually.
The first installment of “Living the Kors Life” features a video of Michael Kors introducing the project, and a teaser video of the three women in the summer-season series, which will run through August 31. A click-through shoppable sidebar called “Get Her Look” will feature the pieces (or similar items) worn in each video. Each woman will then post weekly, recounting what she’s obsessed with across a range of interests; how she wore a piece of Michael Kors that week; and because women’s lives are multi-textured, what she did recently to make the world just a little bit better. BET’s Rip the Runway featuring D&D’s own Cat Peoples!

The annual event was hosted by The Game‘s Pooch Hall and Victoria Secret model Selita E. Banks marked the return of The Queen B, Lil Kim as she hit the stage with an unbelievable performance. Estelle, B.O.B., Diggy Simmons, Meek Mill, Wale & Robin Thicke also performed.

NYFW – Reem Acra Fall 2012: Wham, Glam, Thank You Ma’am.
February 14th, 2012 by ChristenIf you thought you’d get through New York Fashion Week without seeing the glamourous side of Fall fashion, then think again. The glitz and glam that graced the runway in the Reem Acra Fall 2012 runway show was over-the-top Haute Hollywood!
With each gown that graced the runway, you couldn’t help but immediately identify them with haute celebs like Kelly Rowland, Beyonce, or Jennifer Lopez. A mix of sheer, cutouts and variations of sequins definitely positioned the Reem Acra Fall collection as one that stands out and I’m excited to see which Hollywood celebrity will be the first to walk the red carpet in a Reem Acra gown as if it’s their own personal runway. WILD SHOE WEDNESDAY: (NYFW) ALEXANDER WANG SPRING ’12

Darker leathers and textures filled the Alexander Wang runway line…all the way down to the shoes…
Complete with this Burgundy fishskin pointed-toe bootie to off set the flowers & bright colors of Spring…

NYFW: Feminine Fantasy of Spring – JILL STUART

The runway wsa filled with soft and flirty pastel colors such as pale pinks, minty greens, and yummy yellows that left me in awe. I was like a kid in a candy store with a sweet tooth.
Every piece was perfectly executed with daintiness and pure innocence. The detailing really took the collection to another level: from the breezy silhouettes and girlie prints such as polka dots and flowers, to the delicate ruffle textures. I was ready to purchase almost every piece that graced the runway.

NYFW: Songs of Capri with SON JUNG WAN
September 23rd, 2011 by Cat PeoplesKorean Designer Son Jung Wan’s Spring 2012 Collection runway presentation was one of my favorites during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
Inspired by the Isle of Capri, Wan’s collection executed my personal style and many other women in an impeccable way; Feminine and Fierce. The models were flawless with their clean make up and loose ponytails.
Wan used lots of separates and neutral colors such as ivory, white and gray with hints of blue hues making its way on the runway to add a splash of “sexy.” If I had to describe the style of Wan’s 2012 Spring collection, I would describe it as Delicately Chic oozing the style of the leading woman in today’s society.
Marchesa brings HP Bling For Spring in 3D…

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you…HP and designer Marchesa is bringing the ‘Bling To Spring…in 3D”!
Marchesa and HP have teamed up to design and produce a special limited edition laptop that is covered in special patterns made of Swarovski crystals. Available in white or black, these limited edition laptops will be auctioned off by HP and the proceeds will benefit local charities to be determined…
In case you thought that wasn’t enough…Marchesa also debuted its fashions in 3D during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week runway show…
The Marchesa show had more technical goings on than a little bit during it’s 3D Runway Experience partnership with HP…That is because HP was on-hand filming the runway show in HP Live 3-D. HP’s HP Live 3-D, also known as “plurabis” technology is actually a technology that lets HP film live events for instant streaming in 3D.
HP is currently working on developing this tech in their labs, and decided to bring it to Fashion Week where they partnered with Marchesa to recreate the designer label’s runway show so others could have an immersive experience even after the show is over.
