Wild Shoe Wednesday: Rodarte’s Medieval-Inspired Spring 2013 Collection
September 26th, 2012 by Fashion StaffRodarte has stolen our hearts with the shoes from their Spring 2013 collection. This chunky heel platform sandal that hits at the ankle came in a variety of brilliant colors to tantalize our senses and stimulate our fashion eye.
Yellow, grey, and black with a reflective metallic patch on the front graced a pair of heels while a softer, more feminine peach color paired with black and metal hardware on a strap right above the toes exposes more of the foot.
This is the perfect shoe for looks that has a lot more edge and creativity behind them seeing as that they were featured in a collection inspired by dungeons and dragons. Does this futuristic shoe have a future gracing your fashion-forward closet? Sound off below and let us know.
HP & Anya Ayoung-Chee Highlight Fashion & Technology During New York Fashion Week!
September 14th, 2012 by ChristenOne of my favorite highlights during New York Fashion Week had to be the HP Style event featuring an exclusive preview of Project Runway winner Anya Ayoung-Chee’s Spring runway collection. HP was back in New York for Fashion Week helping Anya Ayoung-Chee unveil her first collection since winning Project Runway Season 9 and the Intel & HP design challenge.
Anya gave guests a personal tour of her new Spring 2013 collection - “Carnival of Colour”. The collection, inspired by the eclectic Harlem area of New York City features beautiful bursts of colorful jumpers, floor length gowns & jackets.
Talk about a fun afternoon filled hors d’oeuvres and drinks at Morimoto NYC! Top fashion bloggers and stylists came together to fuse technology and fashion by styling her collection on HP’s newly announced HP PCs and designing custom textiles with HP TouchSmart PCs like the designers on Project Runway.
“Don’t I look completely engulfed in the designing process? This is serious business!”
This was my first time ever designing textiles, specifically using the HP TouchSmart PC and I have to say, it was super easy and super fun. I decided to create a D&D inspired textile using gold & black colors…After creating my design, I got a chance to print it out and create my very own custom Starbucks tumbler similar the this one below…
In addition to textile design, I got a chance to style a few of Anya’s “Carnival of Colour” looks via Polyvore for a chance to win an HP Pavilion dv6 PC with Beats Audio. (Check out all the styled looks on Polyvore via the #HPStylesAnya hashtag.)
The fun continues well after the event, right now you can check out the textile designs on HP’s facebook page, all of the styled looks on Polyvore as well as more photos from the event too. Looking for more of Anya’s collection? Check out Anyaayoungchee.com
Carlos Miele’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ Spring 2013 Collection
September 11th, 2012 by ChristenWhen you think of the jungle, rarely do you imagine animal prints billowing in chiffon down a runway. However, Carlos Miele’s Spring 2013 collection was just that, “a step into a hallucinatory jungle”. Many of the luxe print evening gowns were accented with heavy beads, stones & fringe for as far as the eye could see. The use of charmeuse, chiffon, color and patterns in Miele’s collection took you on a journey through a safari with looks reminicient of leopards, zebras and even modelesque giraffes.
The looks not only exudes animalistic glamour but with colors present such as blue, green, black and ivory this collection could be considered a tribal as collections can come. I could definitely look forward to fashionable celebrities like Cameron Diaz and Solange Knowles wearing these jungle-inspired designs next season but with some of his more elegant designs – it’s quite possibly that you’ll see a few of these daring looks on a red-carpet near you come awards season next year.
No One Translates Historical Sexiness Like Norisol Ferrari Spring 2013 Collection
September 11th, 2012 by Fashion StaffWhen playing homage to the legendary bombshells of the past, no one does it better than Norisol Ferrari. Her Spring 2013 collection, exudes the subtle sexiness of the 40′s, 50′s and 60′s translated for today’s modern woman.
“Think the curves of Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, and Rita Moreno. All strong, confident women who command attention, desire and respect.” Words from fashion designer Norisol Ferrari that describes her spring 2013 collection best. Mature, yet sexy black and white looks tailored suits and mid/tea lenght dresses, both loose fitting and body pieces with nude, grey and red looks garments in between gave brought life to the runway. Legendary models Carol Alt, Alva Chinn, Karen Bjornson, and Carmen Dell’Orefice all made there way down the runway, walking in the collection hitting a home run on the mood she was portraying for her show.

Kati Stern’s VENEXIANA Brings The Glamour To NYFW!!
September 10th, 2012 by Fashion StaffOH the Glamour! The brilliant Kati Stern pulled out all the high-fashion stops for the SS 2013 Venexiana fashion show. Billowing boas, whimsical crystal beading, and dramatic silk and taffeta gowns floated down the runway in contrast to the flashing lights and booming music in The Studio of Lincoln Center. Onlookers literally Oooed and Ahhheed as each model flaunted down the runway.
Hair and makeup was reminiscent of old Hollywood black and white films, with luscious faux lashes and perfectly contrasted sausage roll up-dos. The very romantic collection boasted of magnificent construction, ruffles, crystal appliques, and rich bold fabrics and colors. With award season approaching, many of these red carpet looks are sure to make a few appearances.

Escape To Fantasy Island With Mara Hoffman Spring/Summer 2013
September 10th, 2012 by ChristenTaking a dramatic, fantasy approach to Spring/Summer fashion – Mara Hoffman’s designs brought the runway to life! With a trio of ukuleles, one by one the designs began to flaunt down the runway with flirty and fun out in the sun. You won’t spot any grass skirts or coconut bras on this runway, however you will find a variety of tropical mixed prints, vibrant colors, patterns and more!
A variety of mixed prints accompanied with florescent vibes were common throughout the entire collection. A few nude pieces were also incorporated and was a great neutral addition to the bright colors that led down the runway. Look forward to seeing celebrities like Rihanna, Zoe Saldana & maybe even Beyonce wearing similar looks next year, simply because of the mixed matching patterns and colors that they’re known to wear and love. But enough of my opinion, what do you think about Mara Hoffman’s island inspired collection below?
Don’t these vibrant frocks inspire you for an early Caribbean vacation or what? Which look do you like best?
NYFW: Son Jung Wan Spring/Summer 2013
September 9th, 2012 by Fashion Staff
If a raspberry, ivory, teal and gray color pallet is your thing then the Son Jung Wan Spring Summer 2013 was right up your alley for the next warm weather season. The show started with a Beautiful canary pleated dress that moved effortlessly down the runway. Embellished garments, knits and chiffon pieces caught our eye but the show stoppers were these 3D lace appliqué designs.
One of our favorite pieces included a blazer that was paired with ivory lamb skin shorts and there was even a 3D romper that grace the runway. Son Jung Wan is on our favorite list for sure. Check out a few of our favorite looks below that’ll give you a great outlook on what you’ll see from Son Jun Wan next year…

September 8th, 2012 by Fashion Staff
If I had to pick one word to describe the Noon by Noor Spring Summer 2013 Collection it would have to be Movement. Silk Chiffons floated gracefully around the models body as they floated their way down the runway! Feminine floral print , edgy metallic biker jackets, and blazers with feathers and beaded embellishment made this collection both beautiful and readily available for a wide range of customers. Sophisticated and edgy divas alike can pull the perfect spring look from this line.
Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa, the designers of Noon by Noor ended the show with amazing evening wear. The Final look was a one sleeve peach silk shiffon cow neck dress with a thigh hig slit, can we say red carpet moment!
