BET’s 9th Annual Rip the Runway Taping With Boris Kodjoe, Kelly Rowland And More!
February 28th, 2013 by Tiffany
BET has done it again with their ninth annual fashion event, Rip The Runway, filmed Wednesday night at the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC! With a sexy venue, two stunning hosts, and a variety of new and popular performers, BET had the perfect recipe for another successful year for Rip The Runway! Following a performance at the Super Bowl and taking over the awards scene with appearances at the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards, superstar Kelly Rowland brought her fashion sense and rising sex appeal to Rip The Runway. Co-host and “Real Husbands of Hollywood” star Boris Kodjoe, added the muscles and just as much sex appeal to bring this year’s show to another level of sexy.
Boris not only brought his muscles and sexiness, but he also premiered his clothing line, Alfa Male, on the Rip The Runway stage. (This will be his second attempt at a successful line of clothing after he and his younger brother released Ziami in Germany back in 2003 and did a soft release in Atlanta in 2008. You can find more on his clothing line here www.worldofalfa.com).

The #Grammys Dress Code Defiance: Rihanna, Kelly, J-Lo And More…
February 11th, 2013 by Christen
A #Grammys dress code for everyone appearing onstage during the Grammys telecast? Yes, it’s true! In preparation of last night’s ceremony, CBS sent out a memo to all talent appearing on camera politely reminding them about the network’s wardrobe policy.
The #Grammys Dress Code
The network encouraged celebrities to cover their butts, boobs and “genital region.” That last part is very important because it prevents anyone at home from seeing any “puffy” bare skin. I’m a bit confused on what constitutes “puffy” bare skin near the genital region, but I’m pretty sure that there’s a cream for that. CBS also wanted to make sure no one forgot to cover the bums and boobies – apparently, thong-type costumes and bare sides and/or under curvature of the breasts is classified as “problematic” for TV.
But in true rocker-style there were a few defiant celebrities that caused YES moments throughout the red carpet arrivals and we have our favorites right here…
Check out these celebrity Grammy appearances compared before/after “Memo-gate” and tell us, if it’s a mere coincidence or outright dress code defiance…
Jennifer Lopez’ Grammy dress stepped out – in full Angelina Jolie style, with her full right leg flashing in glory in a black Anthony Vaccarello gown. She paired her #Grammys dress with a black and gold envelope clutch, and swept her hair back with a chic top knot.

Her look isn’t as revealing as last year’s Grammy bling look but it definitely breaches this year’s dress code mandate by CBS… what did you think of J. Lo’s look?

Last year Carrie Underwood wore Gomez-Gracia’s long-sleeve backless “Starlet” Grammy dress featuring intricately embroidered sequins on tulle. This year, Carrie went for a sophisticated look in a Roberto Cavalli gown and a 381-carat diamond necklace. What do you think of Carrie’s #Grammys dress? (Did you see that Etch-A-Sketch dress shat she performed in? WOW!)

Last year, Rihanna donned a black silk custom Giorgio Armani Grammy dress gown. The dress featured a plunging neckline, complimented by a high slit, a dramatically open back and a mermaid silhouette cascading into an elegant train – (according to E! News) inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in ‘Scarface’ – this gown definitely didn’t leave much to the imagination. But last night, she wore a custom Azzedine Alaia dress, Neil Lanejewelry, and Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Taylor Swift is know for playing it “safe” on the red carpet and she certainly did that last year wearing a Dolce & Gabbana dress, Prada shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. This year, we didn’t expect her to come out on the red carpet with anything too risqué and she delivered wearing a J Mendel dress that had a little Grammy edge with silver straps. We’re not at all surprised that Taylor’s Grammy dress stayed within the Grammy dress code…although we appreciate her pushing the limits!
What did you think about the red carpet looks from tonight’s Grammy telecast? Were you surprised by any looks? Did you love them all? Do you think the #Grammys dress code affected any fashion statements this year? Share your thoughts in the comments below…
She Wore What? – This Week In Celebrity Style Recap
January 29th, 2013 by Fashion StaffThis weekend saw a ton of red carpets full of stylish celebrities. Celebs like Fantasia, Kerry Washington, Rocsi Diaz brought “it” to the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Trumpet awards, or just around the town. Check out our celebrity style favorites of the weekend below…

Our favorite “love-to-talk about” celeb Fantasia graced the red carpet at the Trumpet awards in this elegant Ralph Lauren white dress that shocked folks across the nation! She accessorized this look with jeweled earring and bracelets along with Giuseppe pumps. She looks absolutely fantabulous!
Want to recreate Fantasia look on a budget? Check out this ABS Allen Schwartz White Sleeveless gown that has the gathered bodice.

While Kenya was showing the nation her “stallion booty” Nene Leakes was seen in LA as well dressed down or up depending on which way you’re looking at it! Lol This semi-classic look with leather sleeve and ripped jeans looks simple.

Of course Nene’s look can be created affordable. This look includes a Vero Moda blazer that swiped up for a smooth $75. Along with ASOS ripped jeans for $38 and patent pumps for $40.

An honorable mention goes to Serena Williams and Rocsi Diaz. Serena rocked this fire red dress with these Nike kicks. This is a trend, dress with gym shoes, has been kicking around for some time now and shows no sign of letting go soon as fashionistas are lending more towards “comfortable flyness!!!”

Rocsi, who left BET and is now a correspondent with ET, is seen in this nude and black lace embroidered gown from designer Mandalay. Her looks then to be a mesh of classics and overboard, this is the perfect combination.
Golden Globes 2013: The Red Carpet Of Champions
January 16th, 2013 by Fashion StaffIf you missed the Golden Globes this weekend you missed a marvel of Hollywood’s most spectacular red carpet glamour to kick start the 2013 awards season.
The showcase of beautiful dresses definitely left us speechless with looks straight from the runway and custom couture making their hip hugging form fitting debut on some of our more favorite celebrate celebs and straight into our living rooms.
Welcome to Divas and Dorks Best and Worst Golden Globe looks on the red carpet.
And what a way to start a fashion fire than in a hotter than hot fire engine red number! These two ladies need to come equipped with their own fire hoses!

Zooey Deshanel – Although she lost for the Best Actress Performance in a Comedy or Musical she was a sure winner on the red carpet, sizzling in a red hot strapless gown from Oscar De la Renta. She accessorized with classy pearls by Kwiat, Casadei satin platform pumps and a Christian Louboutin clutch. She definitely stayed within the more traditional awards show appropriate looks.

Claire Danes- won the award for Best Actress in a TV Series for her role in HOMELAND and although we think Zooey wins in the red dress category we also would like to honor Claire with the best snapback after a baby award! 4 Weeks ago?? YOU GO GIRL! She claims her red halter dress from Versace masters illusion and was quoted saying, “I literally can’t go to the bathroom unless I take the entire dress off.”
Who wore nude best last night? Our favorite SCANDAL actress Kerry Washington or Jennifer Lopez? (You’d never guess what our friends on Instagram said…)
J-Lo is no stranger when it comes to daring red carpet looks and this event was no exception, Although we love love love Kerry’s sheer nude colored dress from Miu Miu with crystal accents and would definitely consider it one of last night’s best dressed, Jennifer Lopez’s nude form fitting dress with white lace embroidery definitely says SCANDAL as well!

Anne Hathaway – Winner of Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Les Miserables wowed her in her white strapless dress from non other than Chanel. The fit was perfect for her!

Others who wowed us in white included Heidi Klum in her one shoulder Alexandre Vauthier and Lea Michelle in Elie Saab. Both of these looks were superb and although neither one of them took home an award they sure left one heck of an impression! Howevere Heidi Klum definitely takes the cake as best dressed in white.
Our faves is black evening gowns were at least 10 steps ahead of your basic black.

They include Sofia Vergara (who may have lost for Best Supporting Actress in a Series or Mini Series made for TV but WON on the red carpet.) Her beaded mermaid gown with sweetheart neckline was absolutely brilliant and oozed effortless glamour. Her jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz only topped off the look. Simply elegant.

Katherine McPhee had our jaws drop down to there in her plunge vneck from Theory, the dress was definitely a showstopper making her the most talked about in the black evening gown category

Another beautiful in black included Eva Longoria, who wore Emilio Pucci. Her lace and chiffon backless dress with the plunging neckline and high leg slit wins our award for best dressed in black.
Top 3 worst dressed included our own beloved Real Housewife of Atlanta, Nene Leakes, her outfit would have been perfect, for another day at another time for a different event, just not this one.

Halle Berry also landed her self on the worst dressed list. The dress is amazing, for a beach in Hawaii with no shoes and a string bikini underneath.

And Lucy Liu, the winner of our worst dressed category, always remember Lucy that LESS is always MORE… in this case that would include less dress and less print!

Golden Globes Recap: Red Carpet Style For Everyday Life
January 15th, 2013 by Fashion StaffCelebrity Stylist, June Ambrose predicted last year that this year’s red carpet would be lend a lot of love to colors like Nude and Scarlet, and on the gowns it did. But, it was the make-up, or lack thereof, that really caught our attention, focusing solely on the face. Scene stealers like Jessica Chastain kept it classy with sleek hair and a sexy lip stain. And only J. Lo can shut it down with ombre-hair and a nude lip, elegantly thrown over one-shoulder.
Taylor Swift and Lucy Lui’s messy yet put together styles have a certain level of elegance with them. Lucy Lu’s fishtail braid is perfection.
Not many opted for a bold look, so when its done we tend to take notice. Julianne Moore, Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba all both opted for one bold color and we have to say, they nailed it!

Sadly, we didn’t see many nail trends on the carpet, but the funny and quirky Zooey Deschanel shared with her followers via Instagram her nails which featured vintage cameras and film rolls.
Which starlet SLAYED the Golden Globes red carpet? We’ve picked our favorites – but you did you choose? Share below…
BET Awards Red Carpet Trends: Brights, Whites & Blues
July 2nd, 2012 by Fashion StaffThe 2012 BET Awards has come and gone, and while in the midst of all the action within the #FordHotSpot – we finally got a chance to relive all the fabulous fashions & trends seen inside & outside the show. Plenty of bright colors, patterns, summertime whites & blues graced the red carpet (many of these patriotic trend colors are just in time for the 4th of July). Check out a few of our favorite and not so flattering trends seen on the BET Awards red carpet below…
Brights: There were bright & bold colors seen throughout the BET Awards and the red carpet was no exception. BET ‘Best Gospel Album’ Winner Yolanda Adams wore a stunning, floor length gown in red while “Let’s Stay Together’ actress Erica Hubbard wore a short coral number, just right for summertime red carpet fun.
Summer Time Whites: Now that the summer is officially here (no, for real this time.) White is in full season! How you pair white on white is up to you. Are you feeling Dawn Richard’s full length gown or do you prefer Eva’s short take on this white hot mini dress? Swizz Beats gives you a ventilated look on top with a splash of color on the bottom, while Jermaine Dupri serves southern country club meets red carpet swag. Check out these few takes on whites for the ladies & fellas in attendance of last night’s BET Awards & sound off below, on who owned the white haute look best.
The guys left the white tees at home, and still managed not to shy away from whites this season…
Blues: A few standout bursts of blue made their way onto the red carpet, from BET’s ‘The Game’ Actor Hosea Chanchez and DivasandDorks.com’s Christen Rochon chose bright blues for their red carpet appearances.
Patterns: Who says patterns aren’t for red carpets? Here are two unique takes on patterns by Model Selita Ebanks and R&B singer Elle Varner…
Here are a few looks from the red carpet that we weren’t quite feeling…
