Fashion’s Biggest Party – Fashion’s Night Out Is Now Over
February 27th, 2013 by ChristenAfter four exciting years of shopping til you drop and fashion hangovers, Anna Wintour has officially pulled the plug on fashion’s biggest party – Fashions Night Out. Fashion’s Biggest Party – Fashion’s Night Out Is Now Over.

After four years, Anna Wintour has pulled the plug on fashion’s biggest party…
According to the official website “Fashion’s Night Out will go on hiatus in the United States in 2013, in order to enable retailers to channel their resources towards strategies more in keeping with their current priorities.”… WAIT, what about those who priorities include fashionable partying? :/

According to organizers the problem wasn’t unruly shoppers turning quiet neighborhoods into “zoos” so much as it was about money. “The sponsors of the event—Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and NYC & Co.—made the joint decision to go on hiatus so retailers and designers can focus their budgets on projects that are more in line with their specific objectives, rather than a big event on one night in September.”
Lisa Lockwood at Women’s Wear Daily reported that the event became a burden for designers and retailers given that “they have had to invest more and more of their resources to maintain a high level of quality, and there unquestionably was some backlash, especially from designers who were staging fashion shows at the same time.” But as the event grew every year there were also logistical problems. After this year’s FNO Hillary Reisenberg wrote a piece at BuzzFeed titled ”How A Worldwide Shopping Party Became A Dangerous Liability,” a problem that was particularly evident in New York. She pointed out that in the city the crowds damaged cars and patrons were served drinks with little oversight as to whether or not they were underaged.
While I’ll admit, there were issues of extreme partying that took place during Fashion’s Night Out, the retail event really kicked off New York Fashion Week in a way unlike anything before. It was a chance for those who are unable to experience life underneath the NYFW tents to become apart of Fashion Week in some way. (Granted, those same individuals could quite possibly be the same ones featured in the unruly video above, but I digress.)
Will you miss the Fashion’s Night Out experience this year or are you over the pressures of retail therapy hype?

Big Things Come In Small Packages With The Samsung BT S Pen
August 16th, 2012 by ChristenIt’s always a joy to receive nice surprises every now and then and recently Samsung was a bearer of great surprise as I found the gift of the Samsung BT S Pen.
It’s similar in size and shape to the company’s Galaxy S Pen Holder Kit, which serves as a sleeve for the standard-issue Note S Pen, but Bluetooth functionality, along with a microphone and tiny speaker, enable the lightweight plastic contraption to double as a wireless headset. (Hello? Can you hear me now?)
With three hours of talk time and 130 hours of standby, it weighs 21 grams, offers Bluetooth 3.0 compatibility and will work with Galaxy Note devices — you could use it as a headset with other bluetooth enabled gadgets such as the Samsung Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note 10.1 and the original Galaxy Note phablet too. No pricing is available yet, but as a cool TECHcessory, it’s a great tool to have on hand in case you need to transcribe notes while on a conference call.
Could you find yourself talking on the phone with the Samsung BT S Pen? Would you like to see it on store shelves soon?

Tis The Season…To Look Fabulous!
December 7th, 2011 by Cat Peoples
Tis the season to look fabulous! With all of the upcoming family gatherings and holiday parties for Christmas and New Years, I’ve put together 3 of my favorite Holiday Party looks that are sure to make you the best dressed employee at the Holiday party, the most stylish cousin at the family get together and the sexiest woman bringing in the New Year.
When celebrating the holiday with family, I always want to look cute and comfortable so this year I will be wearing my favorite denim top from Avenue at $34.50.
Just like Plaid, denim shirts are back in style and I love the way mine fits (Not too small, not too big).
I will be pairing my denim shirt with my Vibrant Flame Minnie Pant from J Crew ($79.50). They are unbelievable comfortable. I can dress them up or down. I love them so much I bought them in Black, Navy and Khaki as well.
My shoe pick also comes from J Crew. Ill be wearing the Glitterati Ballet Flat ($158) that are comfy with a touch of sparkle!
———————————————————————————————————————————————
Unfortunately I am not apart of Corporate America but I have tons of friends who are preparing for their office Holiday Party and if I am not mistaken, it takes place after work. That’s why I chose the Bubbled Career Navy dress with the camel bow skinny belt from Rackety Rack at $120. Its perfect to wear to work and head right over to the party after work hours. I love all of the beautiful drapes and folds. I would pair this dress with some Opaque tights with matching black pumps from Steve Madden at $99.95.

If you are planning to attend a formal Holiday party, here are two dresses that will definitely make you stand out in the room. My first choice is the Swing Dress from ASOS Curve ($136.35). Its soft, feminine and flows so beautifully. Another great option is the Samantha Sequin Party Dress by one of my favorite designers Monif C ($228). You can never go wrong with Sequin, it is a definite show stopper. I would pair this form fitting glamorous dress with a nude Louboutin Pump. What looks do you have your eyes set on for the upcoming Holiday parties?
