Designer Reign In London…Shopping Relay!
August 6th, 2012 by ChristenThere’s nothing better than a little unexpected retail relay to reestablish your faith in spur of the moment buys. During my first full day in London, the Samsung Global Blogger program kept me busy, intrigued and on my toes at all times. First off, all the SGBs were paired together in groups of 9 or more to create an introductory video welcoming our collective readers to join us while on this amazing journey via SamsungGlobalBloggers.com. After completing the challenge, I had a little free time to explore the boutiques close by Chelsea Football Stadium and later the Westfield Mall.
Westfield Mall was a great break from the ordinary shopping experience, simply for the spectrum of high and low end retailers inhabiting one huge oasis of fashion. Louis Vuitton, Top Shop, Ted Baker, Gucci & H&M all held enormous spatial stores within the mall, while the restaurants & food areas were just as posh. Check out my first Samsung Global Blogger post here for more on my first day London shopping relay (Samsung in The City).
Only on the rainiest day of my trip so far (Monday) would I have a Samsung Blogger Challenge that required me to walk throughout the soaked streets of London. Normally, I would have a soaking, sulking attitude to match my climate however, I found a variety of similarities within the streets of London that were all too familiar to the Big Apple back home. Today, I’ve seen more designer boutiques & flagship stores than I could’ve ever imagined. From Diane Von Furstenberg, Vivienne Westwood, Karen Millen & more – no matter what precipitation is going on outside – those registers are ringing non-stop on the inside. Not far from Picadilly Circus is an all too familiar retail oasis in London known as SoHo – yes, SoHo. The area hosted a variety of retail stores including Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Couture, Ted Baker, Brooks Brothers – let’s just say there are enough retail therapy in this high-tourist area to keep you busy for days… rain or shine.

Girls Outnumber Guys As The Biggest Olympic Fans On Facebook
August 1st, 2012 by ChristenThe 2012 Olympic Games are in full swing in London, England (I haven’t even begun to pack for my trip overseas tomorrow – but that’s another story.) Did you know: The average Olympic fan is a 18-22 year old female? Yup, it’s true. Women outnumber men as Olympic fans and when it comes to oversharing on social media, we outnumber men in that competition too. Social media advertising company Compass Labs recently analyzed Facebook fans of the official Olympic Games and U.S. Olympic Team pages to compile some revealing profiles of how the two groups match up. And don’t worry about a small sample size — combined, the two pages have about 5.7 million fans.
What does Michael Phelps, Family Guy and Sudoko have in common? They’re all just a few of Olympics favorite things…. check out more Olympic fan favorites below…
What do you think? Did any of your favorites make the list?
Divas Do Fashion Daily: Michelle Obama Heads To 2012 Olympics In Style
July 31st, 2012 by Fashion StaffOne thing we can say for sure is that, Michelle Obama exudes her class and elegance globally. No matter what location she’s in, you can clearly see her regal nature, and know that her position must be significant (though you’d have to be living under a rock to not know our FLOTUS on site). Mrs. Obama headed to the 2012 Olympic games where she has already started attending some of the most fascinating, and coveted of the events. Everyone is just waiting for their chance to hug her or receive a handshake, including the athletes themselves.
Michelle first attended a royal event at Buckingham Palace. The event was a Pre-Opening Ceremony reception hosted by the Queen herself. When you’re a person of high stature such as our First Lady, you can wear pieces from collections before they’re available to the public. Michelle wore a 2013 J. Mendel Resort Embroidered Jacket, as well as chiffon pleated skirt from the designer as well. She then went on to cheer in the stands(next to previous 3- Olympic title holder Dominique Dawes) for Serena Williams at the London Olympics Team USA Tennis Tournament. She rocked a Tracy Reese combo frock, with a polka dot sweater. She also attended the USA vs France game, in which the Dream Team were victorious and hugged NBA baller, Carmelo Anthony while wearing a more casual gray sweater, and khaki pant ensemble.
