Samsung Celebrates Opening of Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy
April 26th, 2013 by AnalieIt’s been just about a month since Samsung Mobile officially launched their next flagship device the Samsung Galaxy S4. If you don’t recall, it was the Broadway spectacular presented at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Soon after Samsung announced that they would be opening up “Samsung Experience Shops” at Best Buy’s across the nation. The Samsung Experience Shops officially began rolling out on Wednesday (April 24th). They started off with the Best Buy located in Union Square, New York City, (the only 24 hour Best Buy location).
Samsung Mobile took to their Facebook page on Wednesday to announce that the first 300 Samsung fans to visit the Best Buy Union Square store at 5:00 pm ET today, April 24th will be able to attend an appreciation event for fans that includes an experiential event featuring models of the Samsung Experience Shops and a performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Bruno Mars. The event is being held to celebrate the opening of Samsung Experience Shops nationwide and the arrival of the Galaxy S® 4. Attendees will be among the first to see and demo the Galaxy S 4 through interactive stations just hours before it goes on sale nationwide.
Opening of Samsung Experience Shops At Best Buy Official Launch Event Details
In true Samsung fashion, the opening Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy Official Launch appreciation event was huge! The event location was set up to look like a giant Samsung Experience Shop. With many models of all of Samsung’s devices on display and with specially trained Best Buy and Samsung employees, attendees were treated to lively demos and many chances to win grand prizes. Similar to an arcade experience, guests earned tokens to redeem for the prizes. Devices ranged from popular Samsung smartphones such as the Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Note II, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, and of course the Galaxy S 4. It wasn’t limited to Samsung Mobile products only, as there were also laptops The more tokens you get (similar to tickets at an arcade), you can redeem them for the bigger prize. You got a token or two for listening and engaging in demos, and going to special booths that highlight many of the Galaxy S 4′s celebrated features. For example, you could order Spanish, French, or Italian food at mini food stands using the S Translator feature to translate the name of the plates.

Rev. Run of Run DMC rocked the crowd during the Samsung Galaxy S4 Launch Event

Guests learned about the S4 features, apps and more during the interactive experience.

These prizes included: Free Bruno Mars Music Download, Fedora, Samsung Muse MP3, Serious Sound Ear Buds and major Samsung devices including the, Galaxy S 4, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Camera and a Samsung 46” Smart TV. No I didn’t win any of the grand prizes, but I did win a memory card!
The tokens gave guests an incentive to interact with Samsung Experience Shops employees and learn a thing of two about the latest Samsung Products. During the event, we were lucky to have Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons of the classic hip-hop group Run DMC mixing for us. To top off the night, we got to witness a spectacular performance by award-winning artist Bruno Mars. He sang many of his popular songs and even incorporated some old-school hits. The crowd went wild. Samsung did it again!

Will the crowd enjoy the Galaxy S 4 as much as the launching events? We’ll find out soon enough since the smartphone officially comes out this weekend (April 27th). There have been some changes from carriers. You can see the latest updates from the major US carriers HERE.
Nicki Minaj & Nokia Lumia 900 Times Square Takeover (VIDEO)
April 9th, 2012 by ChristenNokia brought Times Square to a standstill on Friday as thirty-thousand people watched one of the biggest electronic take-overs of the iconic New York landmark for the launch of the Nokia Lumia 900. Using the latest CGI technology the team behind the massive Hollywood blockbuster, i-Robot, created one of the world’s largest LED displays.
Nokia took control of nine of the square’s famous electronic screens to ensure the crowd was immersed in light and music from every direction.
The light show was introduced by international superstar Nicki Minaj, who sang a medley of tracks from her new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
Dozens of the world’s leading visual artist worked for more than 5,000 hours, day and night for more than three weeks, to create the hundreds of jaw-dropping effects that were used on the large screens.
All of the electronic screens were controlled from a mobile server that was fed by eight miles of cable spread over four square blocks of the city.
Combining real dancers with 200ft high computer generated graphics, a building in the square was turned into a living, breathing entity. It was made to appear as though it was filling with water and then “melting” in front of the crowd.
The ground-breaking visual event, to launch the Nokia Lumia 900 in North America, was choreographed to an exclusive Nokia Lumia remix of Minaj’s hit ‘Starships’, performed live by DJ and producer Doorly.
Watch the full experience below…
Nicki said about the big concert:
“To see the idea on paper was amazing but to see it for real blew me away. It brought Times Square to a standstill. The absolute bonus for me is that my fans, who have been so loyal to me, are now part of the video for the Starships Nokia remix.”
“Performing in my home town of NYC the same week as the release of my new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is amazing and it really is a dream come true.”
The Nokia Lumia 900 will be available exclusively in North America from AT&T from April 8 for $99.99. With 4G LTE speeds and outstanding design, the Nokia Lumia 900 lets customers access their email, music and social media quickly.
Hurricane Survival Kit & Must Have Gadgets…
August 26th, 2011 by Christen
Okay East Coasters, by now you’ve heard from President Obama and your local government authorities about the impending damage that Irene is bringing your way, now it’s time to react.
Do you have a “Go Bag”?
Create your ‘Go Bag’ and Emergency Supply Kit
A “Go Bag” is a collection of items you may need in case of an emergency evacuation. Every person in the house should have a “Go Bag” stocked and readily accessible in case you have to leave your home or office in a hurry. Your best option for the bag itself is a backpack, which leaved hands free so you can carry a flashlight, a cell phone, or hold the hand of a loved one. A backpack on wheels or a rolling suitcase is a good alternative.
In wake of any impending disaster or in this case Hurrican Irene, here’s your must have list of items & gadgets to have packed in your emergency supply kit.
Your “Go Bag” should contain:
- Copies of your important documents in a waterproof Ziploc bags. Insurance cards, ID, proof of address, special family photos.
- Extra house and car keys
- Credit and ATM cards
- Cash. Carry about $50 to $100 in small denominations (just in case).
- Bottled water and nonperishable food. Energy and granola bars are good options.
- At least one flashlight and extra batteries. (LED flashlights are more durable and last 10 times longer than traditional ones.)
Energizer INRUB22EH Industrial Rubber LED Flashlight- A manual radio or battery-operated radio. Manual radios often have cell phone charging features, solar power options, flashlight, siren and compass.

Coby CX50 Compact AM/FM Radio with Digital Display
- Medical: Keep a list of medications for each family member, why they take it and the dosage. Pack along any extra medication, if you have it.
- Extra eyeglasses, if you have them.
- First Aid kit
- Waterproof matches, Swiss Army knife, Sharpie markers to write ID info on children, rain ponchos, thermal blankets, extra socks and undies.
- Feminine hygiene items, diapers, if you need them.
- Small map of the region
- Items to relieve anxiety: Playing cards are a good way to keep occupied – no batteries needed.
Express Breaks Guinness Record
July 27th, 2011 by Christen
From record-breaking weather to record-breaking runways…while the temps were breaking records in NYC this past weekend, the clothing brand Express was breaking them, as well: 1,243 Express fans walked in a Times Square runway show to earn them the Guinness World Record for most people to walk a catwalk. Participants rocked “Model for a Minute” t-shirts and cat-walked along with the NYC Naked Cowboy. Afterwards, they debuted their holiday collection with actual models—though we doubt they looked any less melted than the regular people. Not a bad way to spend a sweltering Saturday.
If you’d been there, would you have walked in the Express show?

Monday, February 14th – I spent my Valentine’s day fashionably loving my body at the Lookbooks Blogger Break Room!

NYFW kicked off with a visit to the Lookbooks: Blogger Break Room
The Blogger Break Room was filled with bloggers, stylists and fellow fashion aficionados taking a break to recharge their minds, bodies and smartphones. We indulged in wine, cupcakes, massages, manicures and more! And I was formally introduced to Louise Manna Jewelry’s 2011 collection. (We may be stylishly showcasing some upcoming Louise Manna pieces *crossing fingers*)

While there, I got the best massage from Olga….(yes, that’s her real name!) from Spa Merge.
Special thanks to Lookbooks, and FashionIndie for hosting this extraordinary event! My body, mind and Blackberry thanks you!

OH NO!!!! Lugging around all these swag bags and fashion runway notebooks, I happened to pop a button on my favorite Diane Von Furstenburg leather jacket! That’s when Kmart Concierge came to the rescue! With one tweet, I asked Kmart to send over a survival kit and sewing kit to my Harlem apartment so that I could revive my jacket in time for my first show of the day!
Kmart Fashion’s Concierge service sent over some great essentials to keep me fresh and sane during New York Fashion Week.

TA-DAAAAAH! I was able to sew my button back on and strut around looking biker-chic during fashion week

Wednesday, February 16th – I indulged in another “break” from the runway shows, fashion presentations and overall Lincoln Center traffic when I headed east for The Daily’s Beauty Bar at Townhouse Spa. The spa was the place to be and break free from the craziness known as fashion week. Even some reality celebutants took the time to stop by for some free swag, services and more!
Aubrey O’Day took a break from promoting her new Oxygen show “All About Aubrey” to snag some Hanes legwear swag…

The Hills co-star (and “Spedi” relative) Stephanie Pratt took time out to get a free do’ compliments of Townhouse Spa.
I scored a 1-hr massage from Townhouse Spa…it was the real deal!!!

Not to mention a complete manicure and pedicure…that charcoal grey color is my current fav!
