Michelle Obama Dons Monique Lhuillier For The White House Correspondents Dinner

April 29th, 2013 by Nigel

This weekend all eyes were on Michelle Obama. On Saturday, April 27th the 2013 White House Correspondents Dinner took place in D.C. and the event was start studded and filled with amazing fashion choices. Of course our very fashionable first lady gave us life in the style department, opting to wear a black cap sleeve gown from American Fashion Designer Monique  Lhuillier.

Though Michelle’s look was photographed from the waistline up we know the gown is amazing from the high neckline with beaded embellishment and lace detailing. Monique Lhuillier is also very well know for her red carpet attire, dressing A list divas like Nicki Minaj, Sarah Michelle, Padma Lakshmi and Naomie Harris to name a few.

FLOTUS paired this look with her famous bangs and her stunning smile. She even received a little shout out from a very happy designer via twitter for rocking one of her garments:

“I am honored @MichelleObama is wearing me to the White House correspondence dinner tonight !! She looks amazing!!! xx Monique” Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier joins a host of other designers like Jason Wu, Alexander McQueen, Thom Browne, Tracy Reese and Michael Kors who have dressed Michelle Obama for important appearances in the past.

Divas what do we think about Michelle Obama’s White House Correspondence Dinner gown choice. Are we happy she didn’t wear another Jason Wu piece or should she have stuck to her go to designer for her ensemble that night. Are we ready to see Michelle do something different with her hair or are you team bangs. Sound off below!

First Lady Michelle Obama looks stunning as the cover girl of April’s Issue of VOGUE Magazine.  In April’s issue FLOTUS talks about marriage, family and how she and President Obama make their differences work for them.  On newsstands March 26th you’ll spot the FLOTUS in looks from Reed Krakoff, Michael Kors and more.

Check out a few released photos below…

First Lady Obama on making family her priority:

Our job is, first and foremost, to make sure our family is whole. You know, we have small kids; they’re growing every day. But I think we were both pretty straightforward when we said, `Our No. 1 priority is making sure that our family is whole,'”

President Obama explains their differences:

“We’re very different people, and some of that’s temperamental, some of it is how we grew up. Michelle grew up in a model nuclear family: mom, dad, brother. I had this far-flung family — father left at a very young age, a stepfather who ended up passing away as well. My mother was this wonderful spirit, and she was adventurous but not always very well organized.”

First Lady Obama on what she’s learned from President Obama:

“Well, patience and calm I’m borrowing. Or trying to mirror. I’ve learned that from my husband, that sort of, you know, ability to not get too high or too low with changes and bumps in the road.  To do more breathing in and just going with it. I’m learning that every day. And to the extent that I’ve made changes in my life, it’s just sort of stepping back and seeing a change not as something to guard against but as a wonderful addition. . . that can make life fun and unexpected.”

Divas Do Fashion Daily: Michelle Obama Heads To 2012 Olympics In Style

July 31st, 2012 by Fashion Staff

One thing we can say for sure is that, Michelle Obama exudes her class and elegance globally. No matter what location she’s in, you can clearly see her regal nature, and know that her position must be significant (though you’d have to be living under a rock to not know our FLOTUS on site). Mrs. Obama headed to the 2012 Olympic games where she has already started attending some of the most fascinating, and coveted of the events. Everyone is just waiting for their chance to hug her or receive a handshake, including the athletes themselves.

Michelle first attended a royal event at Buckingham Palace. The event was a Pre-Opening Ceremony reception hosted by the Queen herself. When you’re a person of high stature such as our First Lady, you can wear pieces from collections before they’re available to the public. Michelle wore a 2013 J. Mendel Resort Embroidered Jacket, as well as chiffon pleated skirt from the designer as well.  She then went on to cheer in the stands(next to previous 3- Olympic title holder Dominique Dawes) for Serena Williams at the London Olympics Team USA Tennis Tournament. She rocked a Tracy Reese combo frock, with a polka dot sweater. She also attended the USA vs France game, in which the Dream Team were victorious and hugged NBA baller, Carmelo Anthony while wearing a more casual gray sweater, and khaki pant ensemble.

State Of The Union… The Dress…

January 25th, 2012 by Christen

Michelle Obama looked absolutely amazing during last night’s State of the Union address in a shiny sapphire dress from designer Barbara Tfank’s spring resort collection. Being the stylish First Lady that she is, she opted for a more custom look by adding a brooch to her ensemble.

Who is Tfank to the First Lady? This isn’t the first time she’s worn Barbara Tfank, check out this printed green number and the mint green frock Mrs. O wore while meeting the Duchess of Cambridge.

No matter your political affiliation, you can’t deny Lady O’s style.  This sapphire dress was quite the stunning number – the glare of the dress seems to change hue depending on the light, but there’s no question that it’s a beauty…just like the First lady.

What do you think?  I’d like to see four more years of Lady O’s style, what about you?

Mrs. O! What She Wore…

January 26th, 2011 by Christen

If you’re like the rest of the country, you were watching the State of the Union address with President Obama.  Besides the obvious rhetoric of budget cuts, education and taxes…the random disclaimer of identifying America with Google and Facebook stood out as a highlight in addition to First Lady Obama’s fashionable number.  We got a couple of emails asking if we knew who she wore last night and we have the details for you…..

First Lady Michelle Obama in Rachel Roy.

Mrs. O chose a classic, fitted sheath dress for the State of the Union address this evening. The look recalls Mrs. O’s early Maria Pinto dresses circa 2008, though the designer of this dress proves to be Rachel Roy, the color “putty.” The First Lady kept accessories to a minimum, wearing drop earrings and a stack of lucite bangle bracelets. Simple and chic.
