Rihanna ELLE UK: Keeping Her Name in Your Mouth
March 6th, 2013 by KenyaHot off the press and on newsstands today, Rihanna graces the cover of not one, but two Elle UK covers. RiRi has been working to stay fresh in the game and has reasons to be on the tip of everyone’s tongues—from the Rihanna Navy to a slew of commenters on Instagram to bloggers, music journalists, DJs, and mainstream magazines. 
Both Elle UK covers feature sultry and sexy Rihanna, adorned in black and white with smoky eyes, bold, attention grabbing red lips, and a stylish pixie cut. The images are very mod and sophisticated as Rihanna models several pieces from her newly launched collection, River Island. On one, she rocks a black, zip-through River Island skirt from the spring/summer 2013 line and a Louis Vuitton monochrome top; on the other, a striped River Island bra peeking out from under a Prada silk and satin stole. 
A tagline on the cover reads, “I will have a child.” One thing we know for sure is that Rihanna will discuss reuniting with her love, Chris Brown. This may well be one of her best interviews with Mark Allen, who spent significant time with the star during her 777 Tour in Paris.

Celebrity Closet Raid With Fashion Maven & Entrepreneur Angela Simmons

Sister 2 Sister Magazine has teamed up with Chevrolet’s All-New 2013 Malibu Eco to launch “Celebrity Closet Raid,” an online video series that gives fans and viewers an up-close and personal look into the closets of some of their favorite celebrity style influencers. The first episodes are out and feature fashion maven and entrepreneur Angela Simmons.
To kick off the series, “Celebrity Closet Raid” takes viewers inside the closet of fashion maven and entrepreneur Angela Simmons, as she gives viewers a glimpse into her designer label-clad wardrobe and discusses her favorite accessories, custom pieces, must-have items and much more.
Through candid, conversational interviews with some of today’s top celebrity fashionistas, Sister 2 Sister’s Jamie Foster Brown offers viewers an interesting and more personalized perspective on celebrity style, as she discovers how clothing and accessories are so closely tied to major life moments, occasions and memories. Jamie Foster Brown also uncovers the “inspiration behind the closet” with conversational topics ranging from closet organization and presentation, to sentimental and favorite wardrobe items, to the most expensive pieces and best bargains, all from the celebrity’s point of view. Glamour, Lucky & Windows 8: Conde Nast Magazines Take On The Face Of Windows 8

Did you rip open your December issues of Lucky or Glamour Magazine & surprised to see that the covers have been replaced by a replica of the Windows 8 desktop?
For 14 of Conde Nast‘s December issues of magazines including Wired, The New Yorker, Vogue and Glamour, the covers won’t look anything like the standard ones.
Instead, they’ll look like Windows 8 Start screens, as part of the company’s initiative to inform readers about its content on the new platform. The cover attachments aren’t paid ads for Microsoft — those can be found inside the magazines — instead, the covers are coordinated with them. Ad Age reports that the full pages show the Windows 8 Start screen tailored for some of the magazines’ editors:
“Glamour, for example, depicts a Start screen for Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive with items such as highlights from a magazine event, a tweet that Windows 8 pulled in from @glamourmag, a December Issue Sampler for Windows 8, the Windows camera app, a special edition of the magazine and a holiday-party reminder from the new Windows 8 Calendar app.”
Looks good to me, I can’t wait to dig into my December issues of Glamour & Lucky and start my holiday Christmas wish- list off right!

Elle Magazine Has What Your Facebook Friends “LIKE”
April 18th, 2012 by Tech StaffElle has launched a shoppable trend guide on Facebook in the latest of several ecommerce initiatives within the magazine industry.
The guide, embedded as a tab on Elle‘s Facebook page, invites shoppers to navigate across six editorially chosen spring trends, including floral, nautical and ladylike.
Users can click “love,” “want, “own” or “buy!” on each product page. By default, all interactions with the app are shared automatically on their Facebook Timeline — so even if users don’t make a purchase, they can inadvertently draw curious friends in to interact with the app. Users can also click to buy each product on the retailer’s website.
This makes it easy for users to interact, and allows Elle to turn those interactions into marketing promotions, as every action is shared with a user’s friends.
Kevin O’Malley, chief revenue officer and publisher at Elle, said that the app is less about pushing sales and more about leveraging recommendations among friends.
So you can’t do much shopping within the app, but your “LIKES” could influence potential sales & promotions in Elle magazine? (*Goes to eBay Fashion app to get my shopping fix…*) We’ll see how this plays out and if your friends “LIKE” what they see on the Elle Facebook page…
