Buy Print Version of eBooks You Own For Cheap

January 7th, 2014 by Nicole

You know the question.  Do I buy the paperback or the e-book?  That is the question.  Why would I buy both?  Well we don’t have to ask this question anymore, says Amazon.  The retail giant is about to test a new book service that slashes the print book price significantly.  Today, the new service for Kindle and Matchbook, lets its customers buy the electronic versions of books they have already purchased in print form.  The prices will range from $.99 – $2.99.  Some books are free.  What a deal!  For Matchbook owners, you can buy Kindle edition of books as far back as 1995.

Amazon Kindle

“One of the most common requests Amazon receives from its Kindle customers is a way to build parallel print and digital book libraries, which hasn’t been practical at full retail prices. …many print lovers will enjoy Kindle features like text searching of books, especially reference books.  Kindle fans, meanwhile, still want print editions of books as souvenirs and art objects.”  (Grandinetti, vice president of Kindle Content)

I am a big e-book buyer.  My iPad is filled with a great selection of eBooks loaded on my Kindle app.  But I do get a warm comforting feeling when I see books lined up on bookshelves.  I would love to get all my favorite books in print form.  The sound of flipping through a book, making dog ears, taking notes, and admiring the binding.

Yeah, I’m in.  Are you?

Amazon (re) Kindles the eReader Fire…

September 28th, 2011 by Christen

This morning Amazon has announced it’s newest addition into the eReader / tablet market – The Fire.  According to details revealed early to Bloomberg, the Kindle Fire sports a 7-inch display and is priced at $199. Offering Wi-Fi connectivity (no 3G, camera and microphone.)  One would think that it could pose threat to the tablet market – but we don’t think so.

Most other tablet devices, including the iPad and BlackBerry PlayBook, bear price tags twice that of the Kindle Fire but with the areas that Blackberry & Apple seem to thrive in – it’s safe to say that their pricing justifies what they offer.  It’s clear that in the arena of eReaders perhaps it’s better to think of it as a competitor to Barnes & Nobles’s $249.99 Nook Color.

Available November 15th…

TODAY Amazon has also cut the price of the original Kindle to $79 and has released the new Kindle Touch just in time for the holidays…

A Very Purple Christmas…

December 23rd, 2010 by Christen

Since seeing Prince & Michael Jackson in concert was on my bucket list – it’s imperative that I write about my experience watching Prince perform live in his first East Coast concert since 2004.  The Welcome 2 America Tour hosts a variety of jazz and R&B special guests from Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E, Janelle Monae and more.

After seeing his mind-blowing performance last week, I thought – “If I had any way I could thank Prince for this experience, what would I do?” Instantly I thought, “I’d buy him a Christmas gift.” (Wait, isn’t Prince a Jehovah’s Witness? *insert Homer Simpson “D’OH” here*) Which spawned yet another thought… if Prince did celebrate Christmas, what would his tree look like?  What about his presents?   So for all you Prince stans (and purple lovers…)  I present “A Very Purple Christmas”…
