On August 25 the stars will be packing the house that Jay Z built aka Barclays Center for MTV’s annual VMA’s. The show which is usually held in LA is marked for the sometimes extreme celebrity outfit choices, antics on the red carpet during the pre-show and embarrassing but entertaining moments on stage. With Brooklyn being declared “The Coolest City on the Planet” by GQ, it’s not surprising that this hip location has been chosen to host one of the most epic nights on television.
New Yorkers have built-in egos, (myself included). If this event is a reflection of that then we should expect this year’s VMA’s to be grandiose to say the least. Also expect some serious New York pride and some over the top displays of gansta from celebrities and presenters. This includes but is not limited to: random artists screaming “Brooooooklyn” (whether or not they were born or raised there), too many mentions of the word “swag”, posing or talking while displaying nondescript hand signs. Brooklyn may be the home to many hipsters and may have a booming art scene but at its core it is still known for its hard edge.
The VMA’s have a history of being a spectacle on and off stage. No one can forget Kanye’s spotlight stealing moment, Brittney Spears looking disheveled during her supposed comeback performance after her public out bursts, Lady Gaga bleeding all over the stage, and Beyonce revealing her baby bump.
My only request is that they don’t play the New York State of Mind song made famous by Alecia keys and Jay Z every opportunity they get. There is plenty of time for someone to come up with a new anthem. Also, though Mayor Bloomberg has voiced his excitement over the announcement, I could do without an appearance from him unless he delivers his speech in his famously bad Spanish accent.
No host or performance line up have been announced as of yet.

PMK said: ‘The Brooklyn Zoo 1′s cannot be tamed with an elaborate combination of elephant-print, ostrich, python, boa, crocodile, lizard, alligator, suede, and sting ray intricately cut to transform the Jordan 1 from a basketball sneaker into the world’s most daring and dapper sneaker concepts known to man.’
As Queen of the charts and one of the world’s most famous women, Beyonce’s taste in fashion was always going to be pretty lavish. But her new acquisition takes super-luxe fashion to a new level. The singer’s latest fashion folly is a pair of custom-made trainers, made for her by high end brand Perfectly Made Kicks using exotic animal skins. PMK handcrafted the sneakers for Beyonce to the singer’s exacting requirements using a mix of stingray, ostrich, calf’s fur, crocodile and anaconda skins.
Called The King-Bey, the shoes, which have been given Beyonce’s approval, are decorated with gold accents. The price is as yet undisclosed, but a regular pair sells in excess for $350+ so this embellished pair would obviously sell for a lot more.

The 7 Year Itch is Over: Justin Timberlake is Bringing Sexy (Music) Back!
February 1st, 2013 by Lifestyle StaffAfter a long 7 year wait music fans were eager to hear the new single, Suit & Tie, off Justin Timberlake’s soon-to-be-released third solo album, “The 20/20 Experience,” which drops on March 19th. This is his first album release since “FutureSex/LoveSounds” in 2006 and the anticipation continues to build as his first single climbs the charts!
Timbaland (who has recently signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management) is back to work with JT as a producer for the album. The two previously worked together on hits such as SexyBack, Cry Me a River, and My Love. JT will collaborate with T.I., Jay-Z, and Beyoncé on a few songs. In an interview with MTV News, T.I. said that JT’s sound has definitely been missing from the music world.
In an open letter to his fans, JT talks about creating the album: “What I came up with is something I couldn’t be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some new-found muses that I’ve discovered along the way.” No doubt his time as a newlywed has offered him lots of material and a myriad of experiences to draw from—the R&B singer and actor married Jessica Biel in October 2012. And as we all know… celebrity marriages almost always mean a celebrity comeback to follow- no genius needed to predict that one.
2013 also marks JT’s return to live performances. During Super Bowl Saturday, he will perform at a benefit for Shriners Hospital for Children hosted on DIRECTV by Mark Cuban. This closed door, invite-only event will feature QuestLove of the Legendary Roots Crew as part of the performance on February 2. We doubt there will be any wardrobe malfunctions like his last Super Bowl performance, but it will still be a performance worth seeing!
As soon as Suit & Tie hit the airwaves, it broke Billboard charts. During its first full week of airplay and sales, it flew from No. 84 to No. 4, and sold 315,000 first week downloads, ranking it No. 2 on Digital Songs. Jay-Z is featured on Suit & Tie with a few hot bars over a slowed beat. Behind the scenes photos of JT and Jay-Z show the two clowing on the video set while still keeping it classy like new millennium b-boys do.
Timberlake has never disappointed with any of his anticipated albums or collaborations, and he certainly isn’t prepared to do so this time around- especially with such talent and expertise surrounding him.

50 Cent’s Blackjack with Game Show Network (GSN) is a virtual casino, where Facebook users can challenge their friends or play the games dealer. ”I am excited to partner with GSN Digital on this venture to create an unparalleled social gaming experience for my fans,” 50 Cent explained to Hip-Hop Wired. “50 Cent’s Blackjack is filled with fun twists and innovative features that is sure to provide hours of entertainment.”
On the other hand, Jay-Z’s Empire will take more of a Sims-like approach where Facebook users can quite literally create their own empires as they work their way from “hustler, to entrepreneur, to business mogul.”
It’s a long way from the famous Jay-Z / Oprah interview in the heart of Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects – but even Oprah has gotten her hand into Facebook gaming creating a lane all her own. Oprah Winfrey Network and Oprah.com announced this week the launch of “Oprah’s Thank You Game” on Facebook facebook.com/owntv to spread gratitude around the world in an effort to thank half a billion people worldwide. The game launched in conjunction with the season finale of “Oprah’s Lifeclass: the Tour” (Monday, April 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT) where Oprah discussed mastering the art of gratitude.

From Versace To Victoria’s Secret: Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Jay Z and More!

Wednesday night, Victoria’s Secret taped their annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the celebs weren’t the only ones drawing the ooohs and ahhhs.
Kanye West was gearing up for a big night of performances alongside Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj, who pumped up the crowd — and the models — at the VS show taping Wednesday and airing Nov. 29 on CBS (10 p.m. ET/PT). The event drew celebrities such as Tyson Beckford, Cuba Gooding Jr., Russell Simmons, Michael Bay and Stephen Dorff. (I even hear that Beyonce was in the building too!
Six themes, including “Ballet,” “Super Angels” and “Aquatic Angels” — 38 different models (including superstars like Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes), who walked the runway in 31 different pairs of wings concluded 69 different looks (minus the partridge in a pear tree.).
This has been an exciting year for many of the Victoria’s Secret Angels, from marriages, growing careers and even growing families (you won’t even believe some of these models actually just had babies!!!)
Performing his solo hit “Stronger,” Kanye serenaded models as they passed, and then was joined by his Watch the Throne partner, Jay-Z, for a rousing version of their current smash ”N—as in Paris”. Nicki Minaj strutted down the catwalk in a brightly colored cosmic-themed number, bounding her way through “Super Bass.”
And Maroon 5′s Adam Levine walked hand-in-hand with his girlfriend, Victoria’s Secret model Anne Vyalitsyna, while singing his band’s megahit “Moves Like Jagger.”
The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was more like a party filled with musical performance, models and outrageous intimate apparel.
Push those plates away and get ready for a little incentive to begin New Year’s dieting early - The 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show air November 29 on CBS.

Jay-Z’s ‘Hard Knock Life’ On The Web
April 4th, 2011 by ChristenIf you’re anything like me, then you’re highly interested by anything related to THE CARTERS…(Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and his wife Beyonce Knowles “Carter”). Jay-Z along with his team has created the ultimate inside look into his ‘Hard Knock Life’ with the launch of his online site LIFE AND TIMES.
LIFE AND TIMES covers everything from music to fashion to tech to sports. An idea that was born about one year ago, the site is curated based on Jay-Z’s interests, and is regurlarly updated by his staff.
As a technology fan, I will say that his site does offer limited insight within the “technology” field. In its inaugural tech story “Keyed In” the Life and Times staff interviews Research In Motion (Blackberry) VP of Industrial Design to discuss the history behind its design… I personally would’ve liked more insight as to how they will evolve the design and if there are any new developments regarding newer, sleeker-designed releases.
Overall, the site has tons of articles within its tiled pages…many of them reminiscent of past submissions posted on Kanye West’s blog. With all the information that you’ll be able to read up on, you’ll be caught up in Jay-Z’s ‘Hard Knock Life’ in no time…
