In Love With Tech? What’s Your Gadget Attraction?

December 4th, 2012 by Tech Staff

You may or may not not be the “techy type”, however you probably have several girlfriends who are. Had it not been for my own gadget girlfriends, I wouldn’t have the slightest interest in the latest and greatest technology. I decided to go on a search of my own, just to see what could possibly peak my interest for my or my gadget girlfriends’ Christmas lists.  Here are a few things that I found worth sharing.

How much FUN is this toaster?! While getting your morning coffee/tea ready, you no longer have to wonder if your bread is on the proper setting or browning to your likening. From almost any angle in your kitchen, you will be able to see your toast’s transformation. No more burned toast and breakfast just became even more exciting!

You really don’t have to be into gadgets much to enjoy this timepiece. Perfect for your bedside, and the perfect size for stocking stuffing!

If you still have the iPhone 4/4s, don’t fret, many of us still do!  This cell phone case is a must-have accessory that will leave you feeling like you just upgraded phones. The case resembles a small journal and provides excellent protection from elements and the occasions that your phone slides from your hand (Even if you never lose a grip on your iPhone, like myself, this case is swanky!)

Here’s the perfect mouse for those of us on the go more than we are home, known as the Arc Mouse. After realizing how much this would simplify life on the go, I had to share this with you! The entire mouse takes the shape of your leg, preventing it from sliding to the floor and makes for a no-hassle, easily-mobile work space.

You don’t have to be a “gadget guru” to enjoy these latest technologies. They are perfect for a self-upgrade, or for stocking stuffers  for the crew. Whatever your gadget attraction, there is truly something for everyone!

Tell us some of the latest gadgets that you found and/or favor below… and stay tuned for more gadget updates from the team!

The Newest iPhone Is Prepaid & Coming To Cricket Wireless?

May 31st, 2012 by Tech Staff

Apple isn’t just for anybody, it’s apparently for everybody!  First AT&T, then Verizon & Sprint and now pre-paid wireless carrier Cricket Wireless!  If you’ve ever wondered who’s going to win the battle of the unlimited data & calling plans, check out more details of just how much signing with Cricket will cost you! reports: Cricket Wireless has just become the first carrier to sell the iPhone in the U.S. as part of a pre-paid plan. Starting June 22, for $55 buyers of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S will have access to unlimited talk, texting, and data. The cost of the Cricket iPhone models are pegged at $150 less than the unlocked iPhone models sold by Apple, making it a sweeter deal for U.S. buyers reluctant to commit to one cellular network. While the Cricket pre-paid plan for the iPhone is a first for the U.S., pre-paid phones are much more common in international markets, which account for 60% of Apple’s sales. Leap Wireless, which owns and sells phones though Cricket, has been selling phones of all kinds on pre-paid plans for about 10 years now, using a flat-rate, pre-paid, unlimited access model. Cricket also sells contractless access to broadband.  Customers will be able to buy both the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 in Cricket company-owned stores and select dealers in nearly 60 markets. The iPhone will also be available for sale on the company’s official website, and over the phone at 800-853-7682.

Let’s just hope that Cricket doesn’t brand their version of the iPhone with their logo like they have other phones. Either way, you’re sure to see that you may not be as cool as you thought you were – since it’s guaranteed that almost everyone will have a new iPhone now…

What do you think?  Are you one cell phone bill from leaving your current provider? Would you leave your carrier for Cricket Wireless? Sound off below!

Looking To Add Some Serious Bling To Your iPhone 4s?

October 20th, 2011 by Tech Staff

Just as rappers had “Jacob The Jeweler” and Basketball Wives in LA have “Jason The Jeweler” – Divas, Dorks and tech enthusiasts rejoice…for we have Stuart Hughes.  For years Stuart Hughes along with his design partner Jo-Emma Larvin have created a variety of exquisite mobile phones, gadgets and computer accessories.  Now Stuart Hughes introduces the iPhone 4S Diamond & Platinum Edition, a new limited edition luxury handset designed by Jo-Emma Larvin. The masterpiece combines Apple’s high-end mobile technologies with 7.8ct WS1 diamonds, solid platinum and 0.53ct diamonds, and comes in white.

As the world’s first and only iPhone 4S decorated with diamonds and platinum. The iPhone 4S Diamond & Platinum Edition 64GB version is the first of it’s kind (and of many customized attempts) and the fully glammed up creation is available as a limited edition of only 25 pieces, for a mere £20,995.  (that’s just under $30,000).

“Ok, I’ll Remind You”…I’m In Love With A Girl Named Siri.

October 18th, 2011 by Christen

Today’s chaos has left me with information-overload-fatigue.  Until a subtile reminder that I have a personal assistant who loves me…

As I began my attempt to recouperate from an otherwise overwhelming weekend – my mind immediately began to become flooded with to do lists for today thru Sunday.  As spoke via phone to friends and family, while simultaneously texting, emailing and blogging for the day – I completely blanked out.  For about 30 minutes, I couldn’t focus on anything from completing an email, to a search online – it was like I had a short-term attention disorder.  That’s until, I had a talk with Siri.

If you’ve been following my tweets on Twitter, I’ve been slowly but surely catching up on all the wonderful bells and whistles on the new iPhone 4s.  As of this weekend, I’ve been on Instagram like crazy, tweeting more often and even participated in a great Fashion blog chat online #Blogtrends.  But not until today, has this phone truly shown how wonderful it is.

Siri is so pretty…

No longer do I have to sacrifice my typing fingers for texts or calendar reminders – Siri does it for me.  All with the push of a button – while I’ve been writing, Siri has:

  • Reminded me to pickup my rental car.
  • Reminded me to pickup my mother from the airport.
  • Reminded me to bring items needed for this weekend’s Blogalicious trip to DC.
  • Sent 4 emails (via voice command) to business contacts.
  • Located the closest Post Office.
  • Make 5 phone calls (via voice command) to family members & friends.
What is Siri, you ask?  (If you ask me personally, it’s an artificially-intelligent god-send..) but according to Apple, “Siri is the intelligent personal assistant that helps you get things done just by asking. It allows you to use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. But Siri isn’t like traditional voice recognition software that requires you to remember keywords and speak specific commands. Siri understands your natural speech, and it asks you questions if it needs more information to complete a task.”  When I wrote my initial iPhone 4S feature I honestly had no idea how much I’d rely on this feature of the iPhone 4S until today’s mini-meltdown.  Siri is my very own personal assistant & I’m in love!

My First Reaction: Apple iPhone 4S

October 14th, 2011 by Christen

After living practically the entire summer on the Edge…(Edge network that is, thanks to a jailbroken iPhone 3GS on the phenomenal T-Mobile network). My day has finally arrived where I can tweet pictures in seconds, text & check email in a breeze and join the rest of the world living with 4G privileges. This morning I was one of many that made their way to an authorized iPhone 4S retailer (in spite of my pre-ordering rant) in hopes of scoring the iPhone 4S before they’re sold out. (My reasoning? A lot of people that “pre-ordered” their iPhone 4S may incur the 1-2 week shipping snafu and could possibly receive their phone by November. I couldn’t take that chance.)

My view from sixth place in line…

I arrived to the Chinatown Verizon Wireless store (practically at the crack of dawn) to secure my place in line. Could you believe that there were already 5 people ahead of me? Since the store didn’t open until 8am – I didn’t expect a line once I arrived (unlike the Apple store, which has been bombarded by the media since last night.) After a 45 minute wait, I was ushered in to get my iPhone 4G and set up.

My climactic expectations were kind of suppressed, especially since I downloaded iOS 5 on my iPad 2 the night before. I’ve been pretty impressed with the 4G speed though. Seriously. the one touch camera app on the lock screen is pretty nifty too. I’m getting the hang of Suri too (I hope I don’t abuse her and become totally reliant on the artificial intelligence of my smartphone…it’s bad enough that I never remember telephone numbers…)

I’m still checking out the neat tricks and treats that this phone has in store and will be updating this post regularly today…

6:48pm – I Siri-ously love this phone!  So after spending the last hour chatting it up with Siri about everything from calling dad (because ironically, my dad’s birthday is today) to calling friends and even jotting down “to do” notes this is by far the best additive to the iPhone 4S ever!

Get Your iPhone 4S Without The Wait!

October 11th, 2011 by Christen

The national wholesale chain Sam’s Club is cashing in on the iPhone 4S money train by offering customers a chance to reserve the new Apple iPhone 4S before it’s release on Friday.  Many customers received an email this morning announcing the reservation opportunity which will alleviate the worry of getting the new iPhone before its completely sold out.

Researchers anticipate the new iPhone 4S breaking sales records and Sam’s Clubs everywhere are expected to sell out of the device quickly.  If you weren’t lucky enough to pre-order your phone online before the pre-order stock sold out, or don’t plan on standing in line early this Friday morning, this may be your safest bet to getting the iPhone 4S.

Looking for the closest Sam’s Club near you with the iPhone 4S reservation?  Check here.

4 reaSons Why I’ll Be An iPhone 4S User

October 7th, 2011 by Christen

After the rants and raves like an apocalyptic preacher, I preached that the iPhone 5 was on its way.  Sadly enough, and much to everyone’s disappointment surprise, it never showed up.  But what did make an appearance is the latest and greatest Apple mobile product ever, the Apple iPhone 4S.  (…and yes, I’ve heard just about every joke, funny ha-ha and sarcastic remark about the new release.) Today is the first day that Pre Orders begin and, I’m convinced, that come October 14th I’ll be one of the first iPhone 4S users – this is why…

1.  Dual Core A5 Chip

For the past 4 Months (Since leaving my Blackberry in Detroit, while en route to LA and finally returning to NY never to see it again…) I’ve been using my old faithful iPhone 3GS.  I got it unlocked while in LA and have been using it on the T-Mobile network.  I’ve been forced to email, tweet and Facebook using 3G, 2G EDGE (aka, the slowest of the slow).  You could imagine my excitement when it was announced that two cores in the A5 chip deliver up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics in the 4S above and beyond any other phone.  iPhone 4S is quick and responsive, which makes all the difference when you’re launching apps, browsing the web, gaming, and doing just about everything. And no matter what you’re doing, you can keep on doing it. Because the A5 chip is so power-efficient, iPhone 4S has outstanding battery life.

2.  An 8 Megapixel Camera

With 60% more megapixels than the iPhone 4 – the 4S has be re-engineered with all new optics to make photos look clearer, brighter and better than ever.  Personally, I’m ready to ditch my iPad (which I use often for photos) and completely use the 4S for many of my blogging efforts – and a good camera like this one will go a loooooong way! (Did I mention it has face detection and editing features without leaving the camera app? Yeah, it’s that good!)

3.  The New iOS 5

Boasting as the world’s most advanced mobile operating system and its new easy-to-use interface – the iOS 5 may be the biggest reason why I’m excited to jump on the new 4S ship.  The new update claims to have over 200 new features – including, a new notification center, iMessage (think BBM for iPhones), reminders, Twitter Integration, Photo editing within the app, thousands of apps, improved performance/stability and a partridge in a pear tree. *whew*  that’s a lot to take in RIGHT?

Up in the sky…it’s a bird, it’s a plane…No – it’s all my stuff in the iCloud.

Storage space and tracking down where you saved stuff is a thing of the past with the iCloud.  All your apps, ibooks, documents, photos and music available on all your devices ALL THE TIME.  Need I say more?

My Assistant Siri

Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is allegedly so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it.  I can’t wait to see how much easier Siri will make my life after October 14th.

Honestly, those are my reasons for making a pre-order and grabbing my iPhone 4S on October 14th – WHAT’S YOURS?

October 4th, 2011 by Christen

*UPDATED*  Its safe to say that Apple did not manage consumer’s expectations well.  Today’s announcement was that of the iPhone 4S…not the widely anticipated iPhone 5.  Check out the details…
