(Numbers Don’t Lie) Samsung Galaxy Note II Sells 3 Million Units In 30 Days
November 2nd, 2012 by Christen
It’s official! Today, Samsung has announced that it had sold 3 million units of the Galaxy Note 2 after just 30 days – that’s three times faster than its predecessor. The original Galaxy Note was deemed a success, but took 90 days to hit the same 3 million mark. The Galaxy Note 2, at this point, is scheduled to surpass the original Galaxy Note in sales with the holiday shopping season about to hit full throttle and with launches on AT&T and Verizon, the United States’ two largest carriers, by mid-November. Last week, Samsung kicked off a huge celebration in NYC featuring Kanye West for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note II and Samsung camera and this week they’re celebrating great momentum gearing up for the holiday season.
DID YOU KNOW: Samsung topped the global smartphone market in the July-September third quarter with 56.3 million sales, more than double Apple’s 26.9 million iPhone sales. The two companies controlled combined 46 percent of the global smartphone market.
AT&T’s Galaxy Note 2 has been up for pre-order since October 25th with a release date scheduled for November 9th. Verizon’s Galaxy Note 2 has been up for pre-order since then as well though its release date remains unclear. (C’mon Verizon – I need that Galaxy Note II, like yesterday…)
Samsung Galaxy Note II Launch With Kanye West ROCKS NYC
October 25th, 2012 by Christen
No, it’s not Halloween….yet. However, if you’re notice droves of tech geeks, gadget girls and mobile execs lurking at a slower than normal and zombie-esque pace this morning, chances are that they rocked out with the Samsung Galaxy Note II and Kanye West the night before at Skylight at Moynihan Station in New York City, NY.
In celebration of “The Next Big Thing” Samsung Mobile enlisted the help of Kanye West to kick off the biggest mobile rave I’ve ever attended IN MY LIFE! Starting out early in the evening with the press preview, Kevin Packingham, chief product officer for Samsung Mobile U.S. revealed not only the expected Samsung Galaxy Note II – but also the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Camera (by AT&T). After revealing the performance specs that consumers could expect, guests were released into a themepark of Samsung Galaxy Note II experiences. There were a variety of experience to please everyone, including T-Shirt design station where guests could design, print & wear their very own t-shirt using the Galaxy Note II. Check out a the launch event in its’ entirety below…
Kanye West Is Set To Perform At NYC Samsung Note II Event
October 23rd, 2012 by Christen
While you’re waiting for the next big tech innovation, Samsung simply reminds you that “The next big thing is here” with a little performance by hip hop superstar Kanye West. As part of the Galaxy Note World Tour NYC, Samsung Mobile will properly announce the new Galaxy Note II (which if anything like the first Galaxy Note – we’re already in love with it). Followed by a “real world” interactive hands-on experience, giving users/media a chance to use the device and get a feel for all the bells and whistles. And at the end of the night, the celebration begins with a mini concert by G.O.O.D Music’s own – Kanye West.
The Galaxy Note II will be the first Samsung handset to launch running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The 5.5-inch phone has an HD Super AMOLED touchscreen, Samsung’s Exynos™ 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage that is expandable to 64GB with an optional microSD card. The phone will be available on five major carriers -– Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Samsung Galaxy Note II will be available by the holidays, arriving in stores by mid-November.
Amidst the most recent Kanye-Kim K engagement rumors from their recent trip in Rome, it’s quite possible that Kim K would be making an appearance as well at Samsung’s event tomorrow evening, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Apple VS Samsung…Which Tablet Comes Out On Top?
October 10th, 2012 by Christen
With the clear domination of the Samsung S3 in comparison to Apple’s newest iPhone 5 and my secret obsession with the new Samsung Galaxy Note – I’m beginning to feel “a certain way” about the Apple vs Samsung battle. As an Apple “Trinity” title holder, (Apple Trinity = owning an iPad 2, iPhone 4s and a Macbook Air) I have recently wondered about my decision to go with “All Apple Everything!” versus opting to buy superior tech products no matter what brand they’re affiliated with. (I could easily go into a rant behind the psychological marketing genius of Apple as a company, however – I’ll just leave it to you to form an opinion of your own based on the strength of each competing product in the computer tablet market.)
CNet.com recently explored the battle of the fittest tablet between Apple’s New iPad and the Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Check out this video and vote for your favorite tab device in the comments below…
So what do you think? Are you in the market for a new tablet? Which tab comes out on top for you? Cast your vote below…
Big Things Come In Small Packages With The Samsung BT S Pen
August 16th, 2012 by ChristenIt’s always a joy to receive nice surprises every now and then and recently Samsung was a bearer of great surprise as I found the gift of the Samsung BT S Pen.
It’s similar in size and shape to the company’s Galaxy S Pen Holder Kit, which serves as a sleeve for the standard-issue Note S Pen, but Bluetooth functionality, along with a microphone and tiny speaker, enable the lightweight plastic contraption to double as a wireless headset. (Hello? Can you hear me now?)
With three hours of talk time and 130 hours of standby, it weighs 21 grams, offers Bluetooth 3.0 compatibility and will work with Galaxy Note devices — you could use it as a headset with other bluetooth enabled gadgets such as the Samsung Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note 10.1 and the original Galaxy Note phablet too. No pricing is available yet, but as a cool TECHcessory, it’s a great tool to have on hand in case you need to transcribe notes while on a conference call.
Could you find yourself talking on the phone with the Samsung BT S Pen? Would you like to see it on store shelves soon?
