During my recent 10-day stay in New Orleans for the 21st Annual Essence Festival – I got the chance to explore the city, culture, celebrities, home-grown entertainment and so much more! From new restaurants to hidden gem boutiques, New Orleans offered so much more than I’ve ever expected it to, even after visiting NOLA for the last five years, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the street style, gourmet delicacies and amazing architecture found around every corner.
If I had to narrow my summer style obsession down to one piece, it would definitely have to be the jumpsuit. It’s super-easy to wear, stylish and can practically be worn everywhere. Since I’m a tall girl, it’s sometimes challenging to find stylish jumpsuits that look good, feel good and fit good too! After searching all over, you can’t imagine where I’ve found my favorite jumpsuits, including this blue cutout number below…
After searching online and in stores, I finally found this beautifully fitting jumper from H&M. Offering just the right amount of style and sass, this jumpsuit is lined with small waist length cutouts and a sleek back zipper that can be office appropriate with a cardigan or street-chic appropriate worn as shown.

I truly enjoyed celebrating Ford’s commitment to educating and empowering NOLA communities via breast cancer awareness and more at ESSENCE Festival. Check out how Ford continues to celebrate Essence Festival fans this year as the official automotive sponsor of the 21st Annual ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans here.
You can’t mention then 20th Anniversary ESSENCE Festival without mentioning Ford Motor Company. The automaker took over New Orleans throughout the entire ESSENCE Fest weekend!
As the automotive-exclusive sponsor for the sixth-consecutive year, Ford activated on-site at the Earnest N. Memorial Convention Center providing fun giveaways including the chance to win the keys to the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang in addition to continuing its support of breast cancer awareness within the community.
As a premiere sponsor of the weekend, Ford partnered with SiriusXM Satellite radio for a live broadcast with celebrities all weekend long. Ford also took R&B Songstress Sevyn Streeter on a road to ESSENCE Fest journey celebrating her birthday weekend with dinner and a live streamed power-packed performance from the ESSENCE Festival Ford Superlounge.
If that wasn’t enough, Ford’s philanthropic arm was in full swing donating $20,000 to ESSENCE Communications for local community use, a million-dollar donation to the African American Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC and a 2015 Ford Mustang giveaway to an ESSENCE Fest attendee.

- Georgia Institute of Technology computer model predicts a 60 percent reduction in energy costs and savings of more than 9,000 kg of CO2 (55 percent reduction) from a single home when changes from a MyEnergi Lifestyle product are incorporated; if every home in the U.S. were to implement these energy-saving technologies, it would be the equivalent of taking all the homes in California, New York and Texas off the power grid (32 million homes)
In order to create a real-world model, MyEnergi Lifestyle is planning to launch a contest awarding one lucky family an energy efficient home makeover. Details on the promotion haven’t been announced yet, but winners would presumably be outfit with enough technology to recreate the Georgia Institute of Technology’s model on a real power bill. The All New 2013 Ford Fusion has been given a new spotlight on the road as the star in the new “The Rose that Grew from Concrete” ad campaign. Unveiled today, “A Rose” …inspired by Tupac Shakur’s, “The Rose that Grew from Concrete.” campaign features the stunning midsize sedan that offers a distinct style and functional design that Ford lovers has learned to love.
The campaign, called “A Rose,” debuts today and includes a TV advertisement in which consumers witness members of a Ford product team creating a breakthrough product by chiseling a large block of concrete into the all-new midsize sedan. The ad, which features Andre Royo from HBO’s “The Wire,” includes a voiceover reciting the late Tupac Shakur’s poem, “The Rose That Grew from Concrete.” “The all-new Ford Fusion is such a breakthrough vehicle for Ford,” said Shawn Thompson, Ford manager, Multicultural Marketing. “The late Tupac Shakur’s poem, “The Rose That Grew from Concrete,” is the perfect description for the way the new Fusion’s design came to be. As it’s described in the words of the poem, the Fusion is a clear testimony of what we can do if we keep our dreams.
“This campaign breaks completely away from anything we’ve done in the past to introduce consumers to a new vehicle utilizing a poem by one of hip hop’s most celebrated artists,” Thompson added. “This campaign, like the poem, has an inspiring message at its core.”
The fully integrated campaign also includes radio and print ads in addition to a digital execution featuring a series of Web videos that will live on www.ford.com/brandnew. The videos feature interviews with some of the team members behind the design of the all-new vehicle. The Web videos can be found on the Ford Fusion YouTube channel and Ford Fusion Facebook page beginning today. The question is, will we see a new Tupac hologram sighting at Ford dealership near you? Check out the new commercial spot and let us know what you think below…

If you’re looking for the genuine New Orleans experience, look no further. Earlier this summer, I got the chance to explore the city, alongside Nate from WorldWideNate.com to get a bona fide experience of what New Orleans, Louisiana truly has to offer. As a native (of sorts), my lineage has roots in the Crescent city, however my experience is limited as I’ve only been to New Orleans once before at the age of 9. Thanks to the Ford Escape – I got the chance to escape to New Orleans and experience the rich history, delicious food & a certain je ne sais quoi – that’s authentic, only in New Orleans. Check out the final installment of ‘Escape To New Orleans’ airing on Essence.com this week – below.
