Excitement was in the air on that early summer Friday morning. Once you stepped inside Union Square, you could tell that something was different. Could it be a new vendor setting up his table of goodies for sale? No, it’s the line of hundreds of brides-to-be looking for that special wedding gown for an unbelievable price outside of Filene’s Basement. At 7:59 am, you could cut the tension with a knife and as the countdown began, I literally hoped that I wouldn’t fall victim to the stampede. As the women poured into Filene’s Basement, ripping gowns off the racks and hoarding them in 6′ high piles – I was in complete shock & awe of the mayhem I had witnessed.
