NYFW: Feminine Fantasy of Spring – JILL STUART

September 24th, 2011 by Cat Peoples A girl’s perfect fashion fantasy would best describe Jill Stuart’s Spring 2012 Collection. The runway wsa filled with soft and flirty pastel colors such as pale pinks, minty greens, and yummy yellows that left me in awe. I was like a kid in a candy store with a sweet tooth.

Every piece was perfectly executed with daintiness and pure innocence.  The detailing really took the collection to another level: from the breezy silhouettes and girlie prints such as polka dots and flowers, to the delicate ruffle textures. I was ready to purchase almost every piece that graced the runway.

Are you ready for the feminine flare of Spring Fashion?

NYFW: Songs of Capri with SON JUNG WAN

September 23rd, 2011 by Cat Peoples Korean Designer Son Jung Wan’s Spring 2012 Collection runway presentation was one of my favorites during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Inspired by the Isle of Capri, Wan’s collection executed my personal style and many other women in an impeccable way; Feminine and Fierce. The models were flawless with their clean make up and loose ponytails. Wan used lots of separates and neutral colors such as ivory, white and gray with hints of blue hues making its way on the runway to add a splash of “sexy.” If I had to describe the style of Wan’s 2012 Spring collection, I would describe it as Delicately Chic oozing the style of the leading woman in today’s society.

MBFW: Carlos Miele’s into the tropics…

September 14th, 2011 by Christen In more traditional tones of what Spring represents...blossoms, evolutions and the bright colors of orange, corals and teals - CARLOS MIELE DELIVERS! The awe inspiring combinations of teals, creams and golds throughout the runway collection gave me hope for the Spring and even more and desire to fast forward to April 2012 - just so I could wear these looks now.  As one of my favorite looks, you'll definitely see me wearing these color combinations sooner than later... The official color of Spring/Summer 2012 is.....DRUMROLL..... Orangesicle.  This combination of an island orange and coral is rich and creamy (like an orangesicle, of course.)  I planed on seeing this shade alot on the runways as well as the racks by next season, but why wait?  Fuse this shade in your wardrobe now with accompanying layered colors and usher the color of the moment into next year in style...   This tropical hue of teal brings to life beautiful waters of the Caribbean along side of idealist neutrals of sandy beaches...(I'm feeling a vacation coming on soon...)     Carlos Miele's runway show exemplified the idealistic look and feel of Spring and Summer with wispy designs, fashion forward colors and overall look and feel that ushered the tropics under the tents and onto the runways...

MBFW: Falguni & Shane Peacock SS12

September 13th, 2011 by Christen With many of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week shows already under our belts, the Falguni & Shane Spring/Summer 2012 show revealed itself as a great surprise in spring/summer fashions with its bold colors, wild patterns all while paying homage to the military fashion trends of the past. A striking interweaving of reptilian scales and insect-like patterns was a great break in the monotony of floral, dainty and spring like collections that we've experienced lately. Is this everyday fashion? By no means. But, these fantasy designs & color combinations are sure to be a hit on the red carpets for starlets looking to stand up and out amongst the rest...

Falguni & Shane Peacock 2012 is filled with embellished pieces and layers of chiffon, leather, metal & feathers!

This collection brings to life the idea of fashion fighting each other as "armor" for the modern woman...

What's found beneath? Heavy undertones complete with shoulder pads, heavy embellishment and flashes of black...

A kaleidoscope of jeweled tones and colors revealing the strength of warrior goddess-like models cascaded down the runway in front of such celebs as Lala Vazquez and Joan Rivers...

These looks are as amazing as they get at fashion week - breaking the rules of "traditional" springtime looks...

Creating an airy definition of fashion and luxury combined with rock n roll, Falguni & Shane Peacock redefines what Spring and Summer should look like.

Falguni & Shane Peacock designers - take a bow...

What did you think of these looks?  Which celebs could you see rocking these fantasy frocks?

Express Breaks Guinness Record

July 27th, 2011 by Christen From record-breaking weather to record-breaking runways...while the temps were breaking records in NYC this past weekend, the clothing brand Express was breaking them, as well: 1,243 Express fans walked in a Times Square runway show to earn them the Guinness World Record for most people to walk a catwalk. Participants rocked "Model for a Minute" t-shirts and cat-walked along with the NYC Naked Cowboy. Afterwards, they debuted their holiday collection with actual models—though we doubt they looked any less melted than the regular people. Not a bad way to spend a sweltering Saturday.       If you'd been there, would you have walked in the Express show?
