Express Breaks Guinness Record

From record-breaking weather to record-breaking runways…while the temps were breaking records in NYC this past weekend, the clothing brand Express was breaking them, as well: 1,243 Express fans walked in a Times Square runway show to earn them the Guinness World Record for most people to walk a catwalk. Participants rocked “Model for a Minute” t-shirts and cat-walked along with the NYC Naked Cowboy. Afterwards, they debuted their holiday collection with actual models—though we doubt they looked any less melted than the regular people. Not a bad way to spend a sweltering Saturday.

Facebook EXPRESS! Fashionable Social Networking.

EXTRA, EXTRA – You can now shop at Express without leaving your Facebook account!

Express began selling its entire catalog of merchandise on Facebook yesterday, becoming one of the first major fashion retailers in the U.S. to do so.

Users can now visit the Shop Express tab on Express’s Facebook Page to browse, search save and purchase Express’s inventory of apparel and accessories for me and women. The publicly traded company has also baked in many social features, including the ability to “Like,” pieces, post comments, recommend items to friends and post their purchases to their Facebook Walls. One needn’t even “Like” the Page to have access to all of this functionality.

Inventory, pricing, wishlists and comments are automatically synced across Express’s other web and mobile sites, creating a seamless shopping experience across platforms and devices.

The goal, Jim Wright, senior vice president of Express’s CRM and ecommerce team says, is to make shopping for Express merchandise as convenient as possible. “We continue to look for ways that the customer can interact with the brand on their own schedule and at their convenience, so that we bring down as many barriers as possible,” he says.

Thus far, U.S. retailers have lagged behind their UK counterparts in offering full ecommerce on their Facebook Pages. UK apparel retailer ASOS made its entire 150,000-product catalog shippable on Facebook in January, complete with product search and secure checkout, followed shortly by another UK fashion retailer, Young British Designers.

We expect many other retailers, both large and small, will quickly follow suit.

EXPRESS-What Happens in Vegas…

Express has taken over the sidewalks of New York and Miami for their fashion show, and now they’re bringing the model love to Las Vegas!

For the Fall 2011 Rock the Sidewalk event, Express will commandeer the Las Vegas Strip on Friday, March 11th at 5 PM to show off the latest designs. Models including Viktoriya Sasonkina, Lais Ribeiro, Ataui Deng, and Alyssa Miller will walk the runway while Greg Kadel, Walter Iooss, and Dan Lecca snap images to be later used for the campaign.

If you’ve popped by the New York or Miami iteration of the Express runway extravaganza, you’ll remember little goodies like gift cards to the store. This time, the brand’s upping their giveaways and offering major prizes to ten random guests. A selection of attendees will receive $100 gift card, $50 Tao gift card, complimentary gondola ride at The Venetian Las Vegas, and a complimentary Ultimate Manicure or Peppermint Pedicure at Canyon Ranch SpaClub. That’s not all. One lucky person who follows The Venetian on Twitter will win a complimentary one night stay in a luxury suite at The Venetian Vegas, complimentary dinner for two at Tao Asian Bistro at The Venetian, $250 EXPRESS gift card, limo service to/from McCarran airport to The Venetian Las Vegas, and VIP access to TAO Nightclub at The Venetian for 2!

Though we consider the models reason enough to hang out on the Vegas strip, those extra bits of enticement are pretty exciting too!
