Now that we’re finally getting the sunny warm weather that we all deserve, I’ve been thinking about updating a few beauty regimens to include new colorful looks. First thing’s first, I checked out this week’s Happy and Healthy magazine to see what latest beauty deals Duane Reade has in store.

After discovering Fergie’s Wet N Wild collection in store, I got really excited about trying out a few purple & plum eye shades for myself. I’ve always been told that hues of violet & lavender does really well when highlighting brown eyes. After checking out a few of my favorite celebrity looks online like Rihanna, Keri Hilson and more – I am ready to take on the violet eye look.
With the help of Wet N Wild’s cream shadow pencil in ‘Techno” and Mega Liner in “Plum” I was able to create my new violet-eye look below.
When it comes to trying out new looks and experimenting with beauty options, it’s good to know that Duane Reade has all the colors and options to choose from without burning a hole in my wallet. Playing in makeup is supposed to be fun, not expensive – and thanks to the Happy & Healthy Magazine at Duane Reade I can’t wait to try out a new inexpensive beauty look again soon. The Duane Reade app featuring Refill by Scan and QuickPrints, makes your life easier. Refill prescriptions faster, get photo prints in about an hour and take advantage of exclusive member pricing with the Balance Rewards program – all from your iPhone!
Let’s start from the beginning. Downloading the app is easy, currently it’s available in iTunes for iPhones only (sorry Android users) it’s a free app without any log-in or registration required, which means downloading the app in seconds for immediate use is simple and gets you directly to the good stuff.
Have you ever found yourself in an unfamiliar neighborhood in search for a connivence store for a quick purchase? No need to fumble with a generic map searching for the closest Duane Reade. Use the Duane Reade app instead! You can type in your current zip code or for easier location, use your mobile GPS for step-by-step directions to the closest Duane Reade near you.
Using the store locator function on the app, I found myself fact-to-face with the Duane Reade on Broadway at 72nd St in Manhattan for the very first time.

Create Signature Designer Fragrances With The Scents Of Demeter

Everyone has experienced single scents that has taken them back to unforgettable moments or childhood memories. The rugged fragrance of leather, wood or grass takes me back to my very first experience horseback riding with my childhood Girl Scouts troop. There are certain scents that can even evoke memories of a sunny day or even a rainy night. On Thursday, January 31st – Duane Reade and Demeter invited a handful of beauty influencers to experience Demeter’s new 2013 scents and create a custom, personalized scent blended by the man behind each singular scent, Demeter CEO – Mark Crames.
Demeter colognes are single note fragrances. They are made with the smallest combination of ingredients to express a single, identifiable smell or idea. These notes or accords are the building blocks that master perfumers use to create complex prestige fragrances. With that in mind, prior to my custom experience, I traveled to my favorite department store to establish an idea of the scent notes behind some of my favorite designer fragrances. Some of my favorite scents like Tocca Brigitte and Hermès Un Jardin Après La Mousson have unique notes filled with Jasmine, Peach, Sandlewood and more. Because Demeter Fragrances are notes or accords, they can also be used to personalize and customize a unique take on your favorite fragrance. Or by mixing, matching and layering Demeter Fragrance on the skin, you can create new wearable scents, unlike any other.
Create Your Own Custom Designer Scent With Demeter
(Without Spending Designer Dollars)
1. Research your favorite designer scents.
2. Determine the main scents within the accord of the fragrance. (Most scents have a top scent, middle scent and anchoring scent.)

Recently, I found myself shopping at the last minute for hair accessories, safe travel products and even a few last minute gadgets for on the go beauty! Luckily, for me (and many of you) there’s always a Duane Reade close by that meets my every need & makes checking off my last minute checklist, simple & easy. One of the products that made their way on my quick my recent shopping list was Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy from Duane Reade.

There’s just something about walking through the doors of a well lit, fully stocked Duane Reade location. With many of the newer locations boasting wider aisles, expanded selections and easy to locate products – it automatically sets the tone for an easy breezy shopping experience. As the techie that I am, shopping lists start online by using the Duane Reader shopping list function (it makes keeping up with your shopping list & Duane Reade sale items simple & easy.) From the online shopping list to shopping the aisles – is when the fun really begins…

For New Yorkers In The Know… The Duane Reader Is The Way To Go!

Luckily, when you find a coupon in your mailbox that you can use towards items that you plan on buying anyways, it makes shopping a little easier & rewarding. Today, I received a flyer announcing the grand re-opening of my neighborhood Duane Reade location, and the timing couldn’t have been better. First stop, checking out the Spring Edition of The Duane Reader online…
(Sometimes, you gotta have a plan & the Duane Reader online shows you the latest and greatest available at Duane Reade – but it also let’s you create a digital shopping list too.) From almond milk to nail polish, I had a shopping list filled with random buys & the moment I stepped into the revamped Duane Reade store floor with my digital shopping list on my iPhone in tow – it was ON!
First stop in the store, grabbing The Duane Reader off the shelve & a cart for all my quick purchases. Next, aisle by aisle I picked up my favorite products spotted in the Duane Reader (at fabulous sale prices, might I add…) Of course, I had to head straight to the beauty aisle to grab a few bright shades, including the Red Carpet LED Gel Polish (in a variety of colors) on sale for $7.49 with my Flex Rewards card. I also couldn’t resist grabbing a few of my favorite Essie top coats and Sally Hansen products too.
Onto checking off my digital shopping list, while grabbing a few essentials like bottled water… actually, I have a Britta water filter pitcher at home — so stocking up on a few extra filters from Duane Reade was the way to go!
Lastly, grabbing a few treats for my pup Phoebe rounded out this shopping trip & towards the registers for checkout.
The fast and friendly team at Duane Reade, got me squared away with my purchases & I was in and out of this shopping experience in minutes.
If you’re in the Harlem area, definitely check out the newly remodeled Duane Reade on w. 145th Street – with wider aisles, brighter lights & a fully stocked / expanded food selection it’s the way to go whether you’re shopping for beauty items or groceries.
