The Motorola Droid Mini Packs A Photogenic Punch In A Compact Design

November 4th, 2013 by Christen

Motorola Droid Mini

It's always great to find a device that can deliver great quality across multiple levels like the Motorola Droid Mini. Recently, I got the chance to check out the device and how its use could fit within my busy life seamlessly. All month long, I've been patiently waiting for the arrival of my favorite season of the year, Autumn.  Although, I'm not particularly a fan of the cooler temperatures - I have become a fan of the beautiful array of Fall colors that touch from high in the sky, to the sidewalks below.  What better time than now to grab my Motorola Droid Mini and get some neighborhood snapshots of mother nature in action. Did You Know:   Motorola's Quick Launch camera trick allows you to wiggle the phone to launch the camera for shutter use in an instant!

A sunset over the NYC neighborhood cityscape...

Droid Mini embodies all the great features you'd expect from a Droid smartphone in a compact design. Ultra thin and lightweight, Droid Mini is easy to hold and carry yet solidly built to handle life’s bumps, scrapes and spills.  The 10-megapixel camera uses Motorola's new, very simple camera interface with few options. There's HDR, slow-motion video and a flash option that makes snapping photos in any environment a breeze.

A day of checkers in the park anyone?

Use Droid Mini’s entire screen as a viewfinder with no icons getting in your way. Intuitive gestures let you push to zoom; tap anywhere on the screen to take a shot or tap and hold to continuously shoot. Taking, reviewing and managing your media is fast and easy. The photo quality for the price point is pretty attractive too!  At only $49 with Verizon 2-year contract, the Motorola Droid Mini is a great supplemental device for that'll keep your eyes and wallet happy all season long.  For more on the Motorola Droid Mini and Verizon Wireless visit the all new hub Disclosure:  Please note that I often tweet using #VZWBuzz – VZWBuzz tweets include a 24/7 conversation and a Friday mobile lifestyle Twitter chat with an emphasis on providing information and education about devices, apps and tools useful to consumers. While the hash tag is sponsored by Verizon Wireless, the opinions I express tagged #VZWBuzz are my own.

Get an upgrade with the Droid RAZR MAXX {REVIEW}

March 12th, 2012 by Christen If you're ready to ditch toting your charger EVERYWHERE you go - then the Motorola Razr Maxx is the way to go! At this time, you're probably thinking, "Wait, I thought I already saw a review on the Motorola Droid Razr..." That part is true, but with all great mobile advances - it was only a matter of time until Motorola improved on the battery life of the Droid Razr, making the Droid Razr Maxx and amazing upgraded device. If you recall my previous Droid Razr review (review it here) you'll definitely see how how the two stack up against each other: 20120312-130526.jpg

Both Droid Razr & Razr Maxx are relatively the same...except one HUGE difference in talk time.

Of course, with such a huge difference in talk time - I just HAD to put the battery life to the test. With more than 17 hours of texting, tweeting and talking ("You hang up. No you hang up. Okay, we'll both hang up on three... One...Two... Three....Hello? No, you hang up...etc...") - the Droid Razr Maxx absolutely backed up it's battery claims. This it the perfect phone if you hate searching for power outlets in every restaurant and place of business you venture into. You could actually (dare I say it,) go an evening without charging your phone overnight without freaking out the next day with a dead phone.   If you're a Verizon Wireless customer on the go - REJOICE! For once, using the mobile hotspot on your device won't kill your battery. Connecting via WiFi using your laptop or tablet has just gotten alot easier with Droid Razr Maxx. 20120312-130515.jpg Filled with preloaded apps including the Smart Actions app makes everyday tasks easier by automating actions you do daily like adjusting ringer volume during office hours to playing your favorite playlist once for your daily gym workout. 20120312-130454.jpg Looking for speed? The Verizon 4G LTE is lighting fast! Surf the web superfast & grab downloads in an instant with the Droid Razr Maxx. There are slight differences in size & design, however these barely noticeable differences are minute in comparison to the benefits of adding extra battery life without the bulk of an external battery pack. Motorola Droid Razr: Is It The Sharpest Smartphone Out? (Review)

December 12th, 2011 by Christen If you're a mobile connoisseur like me, chances are you remember all too well how stylishly haute the Motorola Razr was in the early 2000s. The sleek design & colorful options even inspired one of the first designer mobile collaborations a la the limited edition Dolce & Gabbanna Motorola Razr.

In order to resurrect the Motorola name & make it once again synonymous with cutting-edge tech, the company has returned to the brand that launched fashionable tech the MOTOROLA DROID RAZR. But is the newest addition to the Motorola Razr family worthy to make a fashion statement like its predecessor?

The extremely thin redesign is only scratching the surface of how redesigned this new RAZR really is. The shell of the phone is super thin, yet an extremely strong mix of aluminum, Kevlar and Gorilla Glass.

UNBOXING Like most smartphones, the Motorola Razr comes standard with contents that you would expect (charger, USB cable, quick start guide, etc.). Although there are additional interesting accessories, like the Lapdock 500 that turns the RAZR into a 14? Android netbook, but they're sold separately. 20111212-224507.jpg SPECS Unlike it's predacessor, the Droid Razr front is super tough with it’s Gorilla Glass coated screen. It’s a SuperAMOLED screen too, 4.3? big and with qHD (540×960 pixels) resolution. The RAZR weighs about 127g and is somewhat tall & wide (130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm) - not for those with little hands. (But if you know how to keep a good grip on your phone, you should be just fine.) 20111212-224530.jpg BATTERY LIFE The battery life is pretty consistent with most smartphones as well. Motorola promises that the non-removable 1,780mAh battery will deliver up to 8.5 days of standby time and 12.5 hours of talk, I'm not so sure about 12.5 straight hours of talk though (who could consistantly use their phone to test that out?) Just make sure you charge the phone nightly, (and keep the power chord on you during the day) if not – you may be outta luck. (Remember, non-removable battery means just that...keep that power chord handy.) 20111212-224518.jpg CAMERA An 8 megapixel camera capable of capturing 1080p video with a single LED flash even has an image stabilization feature which is perfect for those of you with less than stable hands... 20111212-224551.jpg CONS
  • The handset is a little too wide for for my petite hands...
  • Questionable battery life (Motorola says it'll last through 12.5 hours of talk)???
  • Dual flash on the 5MP camera
  • The LTE radio, 1.2GHz dual-core processor & 1GB of RAM make sure this sleek & powerful
  • InPocket detection function locks your phone once its in pocket (or purse.) more butt-dialing.

PURCHASING Over all this is a cool phone for the price and definitely worth purchasing as a holiday gift. It's thinner than almost any phone on the market and makes no sacrifices to attain its slim physique. Without a contract, it'll cost you $649.99 without a contract or $299.99 two years in with Verizon. Few phones out there can even be put in the same category when it comes to build quality. With its razor-thin design, jam-packed features, and blazing speed, the Motorola Droid Razr is easily one of the year's best & sharpest Android smartphones available today, not the sexiest or most fashionable but undoubtedly performance-wise, the best.

APPLE iPhone 4 vs. The DROID X

August 2nd, 2010 by Christen They're at it again...the second punch has been thrown at the Apple iPhone by non other than the Verizon Droid X!  Check out this print ad that has been seen coast to coast... Sometimes a girl just wants a phone that DOES everything!  DROID. X. DOES. First off, the website is a bit over-robotic for me, but it's clear that the Droid can be customized to suit whatever you need...after all it DOES everything...check out the site HERE. But instead of giving our opinion of the Droid X vs the opulent Apple iPhone 4 - consider this an open forum for both Apple stans supporters and Droid users to make their arguments... WHICH IS BETTER: APPLE IPHONE 4 or THE DROID X?
