Haute Holiday Fashions For The Curvy Divas In You!

December 6th, 2012 by Fashion Staff

Sometimes we curvy girls like to shy away from being fabulous during the Holiday season.  Fearing that the bright colors, sparkle, shine and glitter will make us look, well, big. As a firm believer in loving the skin your in and making your body look its best,  I’m encouraging my girls to adorn and embellish their curves because, confidence is your must have accessory.  Not sure on what looks to experiment with this holiday season?  Check out a few of our favorite haute holiday styles for the curvy diva in you below…

Winter White: This jacket from Cult Of California can be paired with anything, a skirt, jeans, or sequin pants. Its great for holiday time and or springtime. White doesn’t not make you look bigger, thats a MYTH! It ranges from size 8-28 and retails for $75.

The LBD: The little black dress is a go to option for any occasion. For curvy girls this dress works because it accentuates the waist and has a nice deep v neckline. Tea length dresses (which hit right below the knee) are very trendy right now and with the perfect pair of heels can elongate the body. This Marinia Rinadli Dress can be found online, price available upon request.

Swing Dress: This dress screams party and thats because of the color. The girl who wears this is all about fun and thats whats the holidays are all about. The dropped waist and full skirt are a perfect pairing with feminine curves. This Kate Spade Dress  ranges from size 0- 14 and retails for $498.

Separates: Although I love the idea of popping on a dress for any occasion you can always rock separates. If dresses aren’t your thing Christmas sweaters, glittery tops and bejeweled cardigans can dress up any skirt or pants. I like this cardigan by Clements Riberio for Evans because its has just the right amount of jewel for the club or cubicle. You can find this cardigan online; sizes range from 10-28 and it retails for $115.

Holiday Skirt: This picture doesn’t due this skirt justice. One of Talbots feature holiday items, I’m calling this skirt a holiday/wardrobe Must Have! Its everything you could want in a skirt its big, black, and elegant! The textured ribbon like fabric is gorgeous and the fitted waist is divine. You can also pair this with any shoe from flats to booties. This is sold in both Talbot & Talbots Woman and goes up to size 24. This skirt is an investment and you can add it to your wardrobe for $130. PS: Tablots also carries petitie’s in both women and straight sizes which I recommend for those under 5’5.

Slik & Leather: A silk blouse and leather pants/legging have become my Fall/Winter “uniform.” This look can be for dinner or a night out with the girls. The silk top can take you anywhere and leather is also on trend. Combining the two with sandals (yes you can wear tights), pumps or jeweled flats would truly make this look ideal a holiday host. This entire look can be found on

From Dork To Diva: Wendy Williams

August 9th, 2011 by Christen

As a reformed dork, it’s easy for me to recall countless awkward moments including being teased for everything from my big teeth to my big feet. Although the majority of the ridicule took place at school or during after school activities, I took refuge & comfort of being myself while at home. As a confidence-challenged person, I would have never been able to get through that awkward time if I knew that the ridicule would continue from school into my home, like Wendy Williams’ did.

The former nationally syndicated shock jock turned daytime turned daytime talk show diva stopped by CBS Radio’s – Power 98 to talk fashion, acting and getting pressured as a teen to lose weight by her parents during the Charlotte, NC stop of her multi-city Say It Like You Mean It Summer Tour promoting The Wendy Williams Show.

Growing up an awkward teen in New Jersey, Wendy recalled valuable advice that she received from her father; “He said, you have a pretty face, now all you need to do is lose the weight..” A tearful Wendy continued, “Yeah, my father was a jerk.” She recounts her teen years were the worst and that she was never a cheerleader, popular girl or even been to prom.   In a shocking confession, she shared that her family’s teasing and pressure for weight loss is what fueled her surgical body transformation including “breast implants, liposuction and more!” Although she no longer resents her family for the ridicule, she mentions that she does enjoy “making them eat crow..” as she becomes a larger than life media superstar on her quest to take over the world!

scroll up to 3:36 for all the details…

I can’t say enough, how much I love me some Wendy Williams – her transition from dork to radio villain and now daytime TV’s favorite Diva just makes me love her even more…and just in case you haven’t checked out the Wendy Williams show, check out what you’re missing…

Get to know Wendy! “How You Doin…”
