Reporting LIVE from the Democratic National Convention FLOTUS Michelle Obama showed her support for an All-American designer during her Tuesday night speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.
FLOTUS, 48, looked fabulous in a pink floral Tracy Reese dress and coordinating J. Crew heels — proving once again, you don’t need to shell out big designer bucks to look chic. The Detroit-born Reese’s designs have been a favorite of the First Lady’s during her four-plus years in the spotlight alongside her husband, President Barack Obama. (In May, Obama wore a sophisticated blue Tracy Reese dress for her Ebony magazine cover).
As “mom-in-chief” watching her exclaim how much she still loves & believes in President Barack Obama like never before, is a true testament to what a partnership is really about. At times, on the cusp of tears while discussing her father’s diligence in working and providing for her education, she also compared President Obama’s upbringing & stance about financial aid “…to Barack, these issues aren’t political – they’re personal…” Read more of FLOTUS speech HERE.
What was your favorite fashionable moments from FLOTUS? Did she do a great job of convincing Americans that President Obama is the right man for presidency in 2012?

Amazon is so serious about its next big thing that it hired three women to do nothing but try on size 8 shoes for its Web reviews. Full time. The online retailer is shooting 3,000 fashion images a day in a photo studio using patent-pending technology.
And it is happily losing hundreds of millions of dollars a year on free shipping — and, on apparel, even free returns — to keep its shoppers coming back. Until now, fashion has been one of the few categories that Amazon has tried to dominate without success. In addition to its own site, Amazon bought the shoe site Zappos.com for more than $1 billion in 2009, started the shoe site Endless.com and MyHabit, and bought the boutique Shopbop in 2006.

Having wounded the publishing industry, slashed pricing in electronics and made the toy industry quiver, Amazon is taking on the high-end clothing business in its typical way: go big and spare no expense.
“It’s Day 1 in the category,” Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s chief executive, said in a recent interview. Though characteristically tight-lipped on bottom-line details, Mr. Bezos said the company was making a “significant” investment in fashion to convince top brands that it wanted to work with them, not against them.
The traditional retail world — and many major brands that want no part of Amazon — are gearing up to fight for their lives.
“It has the latitude to set prices and charge whatever it wants,” Sucharita Mulpuru, an analyst for Forrester Research, said of Amazon. “That is a huge threat for brands.”
Amazon has sold clothing for years. But recently it has focused on signing on hundreds of contemporary and high-end brands, including Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood, Catherine Malandrino, Jack Spade and Tracy Reese, and it continues to prowl for more. On Monday, some of Amazon’s muscle was on display as the company sponsored, and live-streamed, the Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the accompanying exhibit.

Once in a while, a collection hits the runway of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week that makes you wish to fast-forward time and seasons. The Fall 2012 runway show by Tracy Reese was undoubtedly that collection for me.
Designer (and fellow FAB Cass Tech Alumni) – Tracy Reese.
One resounding similarity of each piece in the collection made me believe in the flirty, happiness that fall fashion brings. Usually, the change in seasons brings a melancholy feel and desire to extend summertime weather and fun – well into the autumn months. This collection however, showcases pops of print and colors that bubbles up the anticipation for seasonal & fashionable change. The confident, bold shades of orange and bright greens paired with embellished tops and form-fitting silhouettes will definitely be a hit for the bold, fierce fashionistas that’s unafraid of standing out in a room, on a runway or beyond.
