Keep Cool This Winter In Candy Colored Wool…

December 11th, 2012 by Fashion Staff

Who says fashion can’t be practical. Just because the weather is cold outside doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style for warmth. Take a page out of Rihanna’s fashion book and choose a wool coat in a popping color. Fall doesn’t have to signal a shift to drab colors, instead opt for jewel tones and muted pastel neutrals.

Pick a Punchy Color! Wearing a wool coat in navy, black, or gray is so typical. Go for a pop color and wear something a bit more understated underneath to balance your wardrobe. Master this and you will look both chic and savvy.

Match too much. Fashion overkill is real. If you decide on a yellow coat opt for another solid color for accessories. Head to toe matching went out in the 90s.

Choose Wisely. Shop around and find the perfect coat for YOU! This means one that is flattering for both you skin tone and figure. There are many silhouettes and details that will hide or flaunt your best and worst features. Use them to your advantage.
D&G Coat $590, Acne Coat $1,040,Bottega Veneta Belted Cashmere Coat $4,935, Stella McCartney Wool-twill Coat $1,155
You’ve seen the options, now get away from those drab color coats and step into a little living color!  Which color wool would you’d most likely experiment with?

December 6th, 2012 by Fashion Staff

Sometimes we curvy girls like to shy away from being fabulous during the Holiday season.  Fearing that the bright colors, sparkle, shine and glitter will make us look, well, big. As a firm believer in loving the skin your in and making your body look its best,  I’m encouraging my girls to adorn and embellish their curves because, confidence is your must have accessory.  Not sure on what looks to experiment with this holiday season?  Check out a few of our favorite haute holiday styles for the curvy diva in you below…

Winter White: This jacket from Cult Of California can be paired with anything, a skirt, jeans, or sequin pants. Its great for holiday time and or springtime. White doesn’t not make you look bigger, thats a MYTH! It ranges from size 8-28 and retails for $75.

The LBD: The little black dress is a go to option for any occasion. For curvy girls this dress works because it accentuates the waist and has a nice deep v neckline. Tea length dresses (which hit right below the knee) are very trendy right now and with the perfect pair of heels can elongate the body. This Marinia Rinadli Dress can be found online, price available upon request.

Swing Dress: This dress screams party and thats because of the color. The girl who wears this is all about fun and thats whats the holidays are all about. The dropped waist and full skirt are a perfect pairing with feminine curves. This Kate Spade Dress  ranges from size 0- 14 and retails for $498.

Separates: Although I love the idea of popping on a dress for any occasion you can always rock separates. If dresses aren’t your thing Christmas sweaters, glittery tops and bejeweled cardigans can dress up any skirt or pants. I like this cardigan by Clements Riberio for Evans because its has just the right amount of jewel for the club or cubicle. You can find this cardigan online; sizes range from 10-28 and it retails for $115.

Holiday Skirt: This picture doesn’t due this skirt justice. One of Talbots feature holiday items, I’m calling this skirt a holiday/wardrobe Must Have! Its everything you could want in a skirt its big, black, and elegant! The textured ribbon like fabric is gorgeous and the fitted waist is divine. You can also pair this with any shoe from flats to booties. This is sold in both Talbot & Talbots Woman and goes up to size 24. This skirt is an investment and you can add it to your wardrobe for $130. PS: Tablots also carries petitie’s in both women and straight sizes which I recommend for those under 5’5.

Slik & Leather: A silk blouse and leather pants/legging have become my Fall/Winter “uniform.” This look can be for dinner or a night out with the girls. The silk top can take you anywhere and leather is also on trend. Combining the two with sandals (yes you can wear tights), pumps or jeweled flats would truly make this look ideal a holiday host. This entire look can be found on

Windows x HTC SIGNATURE Smartphone(s) Has Arrived…

September 19th, 2012 by Christen

Today’s Windows HTC 8 Announcement Event in NYC

A truly simplistic & design focused smartphone has arrived compliments of Windows and HTC. The Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Windows Phone 8S by HTC are a unique mix of the majority of features that consumers know, love & lust for today. These phones have eye-catching designs, Beats Audio technology for studio-quality sound, and an impressive set of front and back cameras. “Pairing HTC’s beautiful new Windows Phone 8X and 8S with our brand is a big milestone for both companies,” said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. “Together we are offering customers a clear choice and a truly unique experience. I’m thrilled to take our longstanding partnership to the next level.”

Windows Phone 8S by HTC

One of my favorite features of the Windows phones are the easy to use Live Tiles. HTC created the Windows Phone 8X and 8S to blend the virtual and the physical utilizing a three dimensional, pure uni-body design based on the Windows Phone Live Tiles. Perfectly sculpted with a smooth taper making them feel unbelievably thin in your hand from every end, angle, top and bottom. Even the home & side camera buttons are flush & fluid in design making this device feel absolutely uniform in the palm of your hand. We all know how much customization is important when owning a smartphone device. Since your device is usually an extension of it’s owning, it’s only right that HTC is bringing bold, sophisticated and adventurous colors in a premium matte finish.

Windows Phone 8X by HTC bursting in color

“We’ve been inspired by Windows Phone 8 to create new smartphones that give the platform the iconic design and personality it deserves,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “Windows Phone has clearly emerged as one of the top mobile ecosystems and is competitive against any other smartphone platform in the world.” As the first ‘SIGNATURE’ devices with “Windows Phone” right in the name both Windows Phones were designed to match Windows and HTC’s design and personality. Nothing screams personality quite like Beats Audio – exclusively available on HTC smartphones, provides authentic, studio-quality sound that delivers the spirit of the original recording. For the first time, HTC is introducing a 2.1MP, 88° ultra-wide angle front-facing camera that captures more people at once and also supports 1080p video capture. The rear camera sports an 8MP CMOS sensor with backside-illumination (BSI) for improved low-light performance and a dedicated imaging chip. A physical and almost invisible shutter button makes it quick and easy to capture spontaneous action, even if the phone is locked.

The Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Windows Phone 8S by HTC will be available beginning in November through more than 150 carriers in 50+ countries including AT&T, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA. No pricing is available yet, but will be announced soon.

What do you think? Is this a Windows phone fit for your personality and style?

LIAR, LIAR HOT PANTS ON FIRE: Transitional Colored Skinnies

August 21st, 2012 by Fashion Staff

I know you’ve all seen the really cool and crazy runway looks that don’t necessarily translate well into everyday life. No one wants to be a lack-luster attempt at fashion or better yet, a walking fashion faux pas. Not to worry, even the most eccentric trends can inspire a great looking outfit with a few minor alterations.

Monica looks gorgeous in skinnies paired with a basic blouse for relaxed style…

Monica stuns in a great pair of teal skinnies with an easy breezy blouse. The brilliant pop of color on bottom makes the songstress look fresh and chic. Using a pop of color to contrast with neutrals will give you a fresh look without “over-styling”.  If you aren’t quite comfortable wearing this brightly-paired look head to toe follow these three easy tips.

Pair your colored jeans with great accessories; think a killer watch or a fab pair of heels. Chic accessories will compliment color contrasts while accentuating other neutral areas such as the feet, wrists, ears or neck.  Statement accessories work well, but be careful not to overpower your look with super busy pieces.  The fashion possibilities are endless!

Avoid wearing this trend with overly complicated prints or textures. Too many patterns, colors and prints will have you looking less chic-ish & more clownish.  If you are trying this look for the first time, keep it simple until you are comfortable.

Have fun pairing uncommon colors! Trends will come and go and shouldn’t be over thought. The moment you feel over styled, start from scratch until you feel confortable in your look.  Try something once, if you like it great, if not move on!

Host A Polish Party With This Fall’s Hottest Colors

October 10th, 2011 by Cat Peoples

As I celebrate my Birthday this October, the one way I love to celebrate is with all of my close friends with my classic POLISH PARTY!  I am beyond addicted to nail polish. Its something I can get lost in on a chilli Saturday afternoon while catching up on all of my favorite tv shows that Ive missed during the week. Now that Fall has officially arrived, it’s the perfect excuse to pick up some new colors and have a Polish Party. Many people may argue that Hair is the ultimate accessory but I believe a neat manicure with a stroke of a bold color is the best and most inexpensive way to complete a look.

Here are some of my favorite fall polish colors I’ll be splashing in this season:

Fall Fashion: Metallic, Chrome & Fringe?

July 18th, 2011 by Christen

Metallic, Chrome & Fringe…(OH MY!) Fall’s latest predictions have hit the scene & some of these fashions will take to into the future in intergalactic style. Check out some of the hottest style predictions that W Magazine thinks will knock your socks off!

This 7 for Mankind leather jacket is sure to be an autumn staple in any closet. The classic leather jacket will be a great anchor for any metallic or rocker-chic embellished fashions.

This Delfina gold-fringe cuff bracelet screams punk-chic…

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you right now…these shimmery nylon slacks by The Row are sure to be an eye-catching centerpiece to an already distinguished look. Just make sure to steer clear of direct sunlight. Lol…

Petite isn’t necessarily sweet. With Chanel’s chained clutch bag, you’ll sparkle like nothing else. This embellished lambskin clutch offers just the right amount of bling to any outfit.

Don’t let the tassels fool you. These Alexander Wang pumps scream fierce fashion maven with a pinch of class.

These Fall favorites could easily been worn together or as separates with the right mix & match of fashions. Could you see yourself rockin metallics come October? I predict that I’ll be mixing it up with a little chrome coloring & festive fringe this season…why not!
