Last Minute Celebrity Inspired Halloween Fashions…
October 31st, 2011 by WAWAIt’s Halloween! And even if you don’t have the spooky spirit, you can at least get excited for an excuse let loose your inner celebrity & wear a costume. Now some of you may be preparing for a costume party and debating what to wear. Thoughts of “do I really have to dress up” or “I’ll look goofy if I wear this” may pop in your head, but don’t worry because I have a few options that may work for you!
Since there’s a thin line between risqué-exotic-sexy costumes & those suitable for wear around all ages, (especially when it comes to women’s costume options) I’ve gathered a few celebrity-inspired options for you. Most of us opt for the sultry route when choosing a Halloween Costume, but have you ever considered the idea of a quirky, hilarious and even thought provoking costume? Seal & Heidi –as well all know, this is the one celebrity couple that really gets decked out in full costume gear each year. I personally look forward to seeing their bizarre and hilarious costume choices each Halloween. They never seem to disappoint me, lol.

The new mommy & daddy recently introduced their twin babies to the world, and this Halloween, the entire family decided to wear matching costumes. The foursome looked really cute & created a picture that the twins will hate for majority of their pre-pubescent years (LOL).

Yes, that’s actress, philanthropist and daytime talk show host – Holly Robinson-Pete! The former ’21 Jumpstreet’ actress walked the red carpet in LA in this unexpected and unusually popular Halloween costume as Lil Wayne.
Beyonce Baby Bump (I mean, who doesn’t love her?? I actually might sport this look myself (LOL).

October 10th, 2011 by WAWAFall is finally here!!! And with that comes the flyest fashions of the season, the best in entertainment and the latest updates on Who, What and Where in NYC…
So much has happened that has kicked off the Fall in style, so where shall we start?? Well for starters, let’s talk Beyonce. In the last 30 days, she’s announced her pregnancy, broke a Twitter record and launched a new fragrance.
We all know she is utterly amazing and amazing doesn’t stop working—she recently launched her new fragrance, Beyonce Pulse. I had the opportunity to attend the launch uber fabulous launch party here in NYC. During the event, I swore I had an outer-body experience as I had the opportunity to witness Bey, Jay, Solange, Mama Tina, Cousin Angela, 7ft Security Julius and a mix of other celebrities (and queens *snap snap*) celebrate her new fragrance and dance the night away. I was utterly surprised at how genuinely warm she was to everyone and how gorgeous she looked in person. Before I passed out from shock & came back to life, I had the chance to snap pics and witness her dancing with her mom, cousin and queens as Jay looked on lovingly and Solange DJ’d—it was A-MAzing!
The new fragrance, Beyonce Pulse is described as; “Reflective of Beyonce’s incredible energy and powerful femininity, the fresh notes in Beyonce Pulse intermingle to create a unique citrus, floral gourmand, anchored by Beyonce’s favorite flower, the orchid”. By the way, did I mention that Orchid Martinis were served upon arrival to the launch party? #LOVESIT. And in unrelated randomness I happened to run into legendary Hip Hop Icon Doug E. Fresh, while leaving the party, lol.

I had the chance to review the critically acclaimed Broadway play, “The MountainTop” produced by Kenny Leon, starring Samuel L. Jackson as Martin Luther King Jr. and Angela Basset as a maid named Camae. To say the least—it was pretty interesting, but uh, I’ll hold my reviews…Lol, ok no it was actually an amazing play and gave me a newfound respect for these two actors and the art of live theater and great playwriting. To say the least, I was very surprised by the portrayal of MLK and honestly felt extremely nervous and during each scene—cuz King damn near did and said everything reminiscent of a pimp. Needless to say, the stageplay has an amazing twist and really pushes envelop—so I’d say, GO SEE IT!

Heineken recently launched their limited edition “Artistry of Sound” headphones with Aerial7 called, #Heineken100. The launch party was held at Greenhouse and the headphones will obvi be new competition for other popular headphones *cough* Beats *cough*. The headphones will join the army of other highly priced, professional quality, urban, headphones for the masses. Funny story—we actually won a pair of the new headphones for twitpic’g interesting pictures from the launch, but weren’t present to pick up our pair :/ #FAIL, Yes we know. Well, at least you can see some of the pics from the Heineken 100 / Aerial7 Launch event and pick up your pair of Aerial 7 Headphones here.

Ok, so yes Tyrese is back at making music! Who doesn’t love seeing our chocolate drop back at it?? We got a sneak peek of his new album, “Open Invitation” during a listening party a few weeks back and had the opportunity to hear him intimately discuss the creation of his album and the work that went into getting it completed. I loved hearing how passionate Tyrese was about his music—and also loved seeing him rig his MacBook for us to view his new “Stay” music video with Taraji P. Henson. Check out the video here.
As for the Paper Magazine Awards—other than the magazine celebrating their 7th Year Anniversary and having heavy hitters such as Mary J Blige performing and Wendy Williams hosting, the news behind the scene was buzzing about a topless photographer in attendance. She was very proud of her bare chest and posed for ALL the pictures. (apparently in New York State it’s been legal since 1992 for women to go topfree in public anywhere a man can.) Sorry, no NSFW pics here, unless you disapprove of Wendy’s red carpet look…What do you think? (Fashion Yay or Nay?)

London Fashion Week Welcomes Beyonce’s House of Dereon Collection

MTV VMA Fashion Winners/Losers

With the help of our tweeting readers, we’ve compiled our Top Five Fashion Winners and Losers from the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards…
LOSER: Nicki Minaj – aka Hannibal Lectur meets Jim Henson’s Muppets
Although Nicki Minaj won a moonman for ‘Best Hip Hop Video of The Year’ she definitely loses for this ridiculous outfit. This technically challenged ensemble not only confused our readers and tweeters, it apparently confused actual fashion designers as well.
WINNER: Mommy in Tangerine – Beyonce’s glowing in Lanvin showcasing her bouncing baby bump
LOSER: Rainbow Rehabilitation – Deena’s Jersey Shore Mistake
Although we don’t condone violence someone should’ve called Ronnie to beat down the designer of this dress & tossed it back to the Jersey Shore and had Irene rip it to shreds.
WINNER: Demi Lovato
This number worn by Demi Lovato gives me J. Lo circa 2011 Grammy’s earlier this year. Seen on the VMA pre show black carpet, this look was the perfect mix of sweet & spicy for the singing teen sensation.
LOSER: ’Dude Looks Like A Lady’ – Lady Gaga, we get it. You’re different.
Lady Gaga as The Fonz meets Ralph Machio meets John Travolta via Grease, the look was god-awful but what made it worse was the overdrawn monologue and the fact that it didn’t come with a wardrobe change.
This year’s MTV Video Music Awards had tons of fashion dos and don’ts but let’s be honest, the show itself was completely overshadowed by the Beyonce pregnancy announcement. So what’s next? Maybe our favorite celebrity maternity looks of 2011 – Which star do you look to for fashion inspiration?

WILD SHOE WEDNESDAY: Beyonce Edition

“Who runs the world? Girls! “ No, shoe designers run the world! They have us clamoring for the hottest shoe of the season, squeezing our size 10 foot in size 6 heel and painfully walking around for the sake of fashion! *OUCH* The designer that will be on everyone’s mind today is Gareth Pugh! He’s the mastermind behind Beyonce’s Girls Run The World “Golden Foot” look.
The space age shoe known as The Starship Enterprise shoe is the brainchild of acclaimed designer Gareth Pugh, who is known for his fashionable women’s collection, men’s collection and surprisingly footwear. This entire look can be examined & obsessed over completely during the world premiere of Beyonce’s “Girls Run The World” music video on American Idol. (In case you missed it, the video was originally set to premiere Friday, May 13th on Vevo but was “pushed back” to achieve visual “perfection” before it’s release.
Although the price is unknown, rest assured that you wont see these in your neighborhood nightclub or strutting down the local supermarket isle anytime soon.
The Starship Enterprise shoes are paired with Gareth Pugh’s Gold Shredder Dress for a complete “Out-Of-This-World” look!
SIDE NOTE: I’m curious about the stylist behind this complete look. Personally I believe that Lady Gaga could’ve taken the look and made it an unbelievable masterpiece. Maybe because, I tend to see Lady Gaga as an artist that wears the wardrobe vs Beyonce who allows the wardrobe to wear her. (Remember the theory that models are just supposed to be hangers to highlight the clothes? Well artists are supposed to reverse that theory and I don’t think that was quite executed well this time around…)

Jay-Z’s ‘Hard Knock Life’ On The Web
April 4th, 2011 by ChristenIf you’re anything like me, then you’re highly interested by anything related to THE CARTERS…(Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and his wife Beyonce Knowles “Carter”). Jay-Z along with his team has created the ultimate inside look into his ‘Hard Knock Life’ with the launch of his online site LIFE AND TIMES.
LIFE AND TIMES covers everything from music to fashion to tech to sports. An idea that was born about one year ago, the site is curated based on Jay-Z’s interests, and is regurlarly updated by his staff.
As a technology fan, I will say that his site does offer limited insight within the “technology” field. In its inaugural tech story “Keyed In” the Life and Times staff interviews Research In Motion (Blackberry) VP of Industrial Design to discuss the history behind its design… I personally would’ve liked more insight as to how they will evolve the design and if there are any new developments regarding newer, sleeker-designed releases.
Overall, the site has tons of articles within its tiled pages…many of them reminiscent of past submissions posted on Kanye West’s blog. With all the information that you’ll be able to read up on, you’ll be caught up in Jay-Z’s ‘Hard Knock Life’ in no time…
