{Backstage} BCBGMaxAzria Spring 2015 Collection is Airy, Romantic and I Want It All!

September 4th, 2014 by Christen

The latest BCBG Max Azria collection to cascade the runway isn’t far beyond your buying reach.  While getting the scoop backstage in hair and makeup (and taking selfies on Instagram with the designer Max Azria himself!)  I discovered in a new social shopping twist, BCBG included “how to buy” the ready to wear runway looks by “liking” an Instagram photo from the collection.

The Instagram shopping tool stems from collaboration between BCBGMaxAzria and the service, which sends an email to users who have “liked” an Instagram photo a link to buy it from the designer’s website. In all, the design house said, nine looks were available for purchase via the new system.

Plenty of light, airy and flowing tops will set the trend of Spring 2015 bohemian looks.

June Ambrose and Jay Manuel

It’s always a pleasure when you run into fashion’s guru’s June Ambrose and Jay Manuel during NYFW.

If you fell in love with the spring show flowing with bohemian vibes and plenty of pale, pastels and ethereal colors like bare pink, light blush, aqua, gray violet and lavender, then you’ll be happy to know that the latest collection from BCBGMaxAzria has plenty to go around.

Designers Max Azria and his wife, Lubov, described their Spring 2015 collection as a mix of “timeless elegance with bohemian silhouettes.” The emphasis was on long, filmy garments belted at the waist, in subtle prints or, often, a simple one-color look.  A white embroidered motorcycle jacket, though, was my favorite piece paired with a cotton skirt and cotton mesh embroidered top — all in white.

Check out some of my favorite pieces from the collection below.

New York Fashion Week: BCBGMAXAZRIA Then & Now (Fall 2013 / Spring 2014)

September 5th, 2013 by Christen

“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future…this is known as fashion week.”  – Carrie Bradshaw ‘Sex and the City’

BCBGMAZAZRIA Fall 2013 vs Spring 2014

Every New York Fashion Week, I find myself looking back at seasons past to guide my Lincoln Center uniform and get a gasp on closet “must haves” for the upcoming season.  Drifting through magazines in search for the season’s hottest trends, can become a bit cumbersome – so I thought, why not just go back to the source?  Designer runways is where all the hot trends are birthed, so why not revisit designer runway pasts while in anticipation of next season’s hautest looks.

Looking for ways to transition your summer wardrobe into cool, crisp Autumn months?  One word.  Layers.  Silk shift dresses laid the foundation of the BCBGMAXAZRIA gypsy-infused Fall 2013. Add cleanly knit, slouchy sweaters and beanies coupled with a choice of loose-fitting outerwear and you’ve got the collection down in a nutshell.  If you’re anxious to slip into Fall fashions early, check out more Fall runway trends to try with Five Fall Fashion Trends You Can Wear Today…

Need a reminder of  BCBGMAXAZRIA looks fresh off the runway for Fall 2013, here are a few standout looks and full runway show below.

If this Fall’s collection was all about layers, then Spring is all about shedding them towards fashion freedom with these easy-to-wear looks from BCBGMAXAZRIA collection.  Spread across a neutral palette, the models showcased pops of life with snake-embossed leather skirts, watercolor floral prints, and embroidered tulle tops. Anyone can be BCBG, and this show proved just how effortless it is. Now for a look into the future, BCBGMAXAZRIA debuts the Spring 2014 looks earlier today from New York Fashion Week.

What do you think about BCBGMAXAZRIA Fall 2013 vs Spring 2014 collections?  Are you ready to incorporate layers into your daily wardrobe or are you ready to be in a Spring-like state of mind?

Fashions Night Out…Through My Eyes

September 9th, 2011 by Christen

It was shortly after 6pm and excitement was buzzing through the island of Manhattan unlike anything else I’ve experienced.

It was Fashions Night Out and my set schedule was planned to the minute, who I’d hang out with, clients I’d go to see, celebrities I was bound to run into…the whole night was planned…that is, until 6:15pm rolled around…

“If you want to make God laugh…tell Him your plans…” – Unknown

My Fashions Night Out revolved around Fifth Avenue (aka the Mecca of NYC Fashion) from Drake at Versace to potent flutes of champagne at BCBG the ladies of had a grand ol time – check out the pictorial of Fashions Night Out, through my eyes…

It began as a journey to Macy’s Herald Square…so up 34th we went…that is until club Famous Footwear grabbed our attention…no really, Famous Footwear had music blaring and a line down the street as if it was Ibiza…

Most stores lured you in with free food and drinks…(ding, ding…) – and the little pigs in a blanket served by the waitresses in overalls at Levi’s were divine…and yes, the piggies were grazing in a tray filled with grass…How cute!

Finally making it to the Fifth Avenue Lord & Taylor department store where not only the NFL Jets cheerleaders were found gyrating at the entrance – but also where the games and flutes of champagne seemed to overflow with participation from the crowds of consumers…

Clearly as I saw with my own eyes, Sephora was the place to be…lines and lines of people and the cutest little divas (eyelashes and all…)

Finally, making my way to Saks Fifth Avenue (staying true to the Divas and Dorks mentality) we stopped by the Lenovo lounge where they launched the newest member of the Lenovo family laptop and highlighted a Lenovo favorite (mixing the music that kept the party going all night long…)…

Then there was Drake at Versace…

Onto the Coup De Grace of FNO entertainment, Bergdoff Goodman’s display windows came to life with live musical performances and interesting displays of fashion, flair and more…

Ending the the night, Tiffany, Cat Peoples and I made a stop into BCBG for some fly accessories, (more champagne) and more time with an old friend…
