Before you get ready to check out for the weekend, stop and think – What if the next few seconds you spend on social media could save a life?
The It Can Wait program has celebrated September 19th as an annual Day of Action urging drivers across the country to take the pledge. This Saturday, and in honor of the Fifth Year Anniversary of the It Can Wait program, it’s our responsibility to help spread the word and encourage readers to keep eyes on the road, not on your phones!
What if the next few seconds you spend on social media could save a life? New research from AT&T shows how we can influence our closest contacts. And tagging these people on social may be the perfect way to get their attention. While many of us have hundreds of smartphone contacts, 2-in-3 people have almost all or most of their smartphone communications with just 5 people. The research also showed that people and their “top 5” have a lot of influence over each other.
More than 9-in-10 respondents believe it’s dangerous for drivers to send and receive smartphone communications from behind the wheel.
The research shows they’re missing a real opportunity to help keep their “top 5” safe:
- More than 8-in-10 said they would likely stop or reduce their smartphone use while driving if one or more of their “top 5” contacts asked them to;
- More than 7-in-10 said they would likely download an app to reduce their smartphone use behind the wheel if one or more of their “top 5” asked;
- Nearly 85% of people would be likely to stop sending smartphone communications to their “top 5” when they know they’re driving … if only their “top 5” would ask!
So how can you spread the word this weekend? Tag your “top 5,” whether it’s a best friend or co-worker, in a social post encouraging them to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phone. It takes just a few seconds, but #Tag5toSave5 could literally save lives! This quick post could make a big difference in the lives of your favorite people! Share the following tweet and tag your friends online as a friendly reminder about texting while on the road now!
No post, glance, email, search or text is worth a life … It Can Wait. #Tag5ToSave5 #ItCanWait
I’m proud to be a long time supporter and blogger ambassador of the “It Can Wait” program. Sure technology makes life easier, but using tech and gadgets from behind the wheel could be costly. It’s your responsibility to keep your friends, family and top 5 safe! Let’s spread the word this weekend and continue to encourage those around us to keep safe behind the wheel and remember, when it comes to texting while driving…It Can Wait!

AT&T + ENJOY Has Partnered To Deliver A New Way To Buy, Set Up And Explore Your Smartphone And GadgetsJune 11th, 2015 by Christen
If you’ve gifted mom, dad or a recent grad with a smartphone or tablet and struggled as a tutor while setting up wifi, email, social media accounts and more – AT&T and ENJOY has now made your life a whole lot easier!
AT&T now provides free hand-delivery and in-person support service through a partnership with ENJOY, the startup launched by ex-Apple exec Ron Johnson. GoEnjoy.com, provides a personal commerce platform, built to revolutionize the way people buy and enjoy the world’s best technology products. Customers can select from a small assortment of items including notebooks, drones, Sonos systems, Xbox One consoles, pedal-assisted bikes and GoPro cameras, and have them delivered and demonstrated by highly-trained staff at no extra cost.
Last week, I got the opportunity to participate in the ENJOY delivery experience first-hand. Upon, purchasing an eligible product on ATT.com (in this case, it was the Samsung Galaxy S6) – you then receive an email to schedule delivery to your home, office or local coffee shop. At your scheduled meeting time, an Expert will help you unbox your phone, give you a guided tour of the device, and show you software features. If you’re interested, the Expert can suggest apps that are relevant to your interests or help connect your smartphone to other devices you own.
(ENJOY appointments last about an hour so it’s best to come prepared with any and all questions you have about your new device.)
During my experience with my ENJOY expert – Gio, I had plenty of questions regarding photo editing apps, using the cameral in manual mode and even using the cool virtual shot, slow motion and animated gif camera features. Gio was very knowledgeable about the S6 and provided great suggestions, tips and tricks to use to make the most out of my user experience.
ENJOY appointments aren’t just for new buyers either, consumers can also purchase the personal support service separately for already-owned items (no matter the wireless carrier) for only $99. There are even options to gift an ENJOY appointment to mom, dad a recent grad or grandma that could use a little help getting the most out of what they already own. Like ENJOY, AT&T’s offer for the free ENJOY delivery service is only available to customers in New York City and the San Francisco Bay area for now, with plans to expand the service in the future.
I’m looking forward to the ENJOY service expanding to other cities, and and gifting an appointment to few family members (ahem, my dad and grandmother) very soon. How do you get through getting acclimated to a new device? Could you or anyone you know benefit from ENJOY? Share your thoughts below.

Did you attend the fashionably fun Relax, Renew and Recharge event during New York Fashion Week? If you didn’t, then you missed out on some exciting smartphones and accessories from LG mobile. During the event, we gave away THREE LG G Vista smartphones from AT&T and had the LG G3, the LG Watch and plenty of other smartphones on site for hands-on tweeting, selfies and more!
I got plenty of hands-on experience with the LG G3 and LG Watch and I can’t help to say, I’m in love! There are several reasons why many consider LG G3 being on top of the list: excellent battery life, swift user interface and fantastic design. The device also comes with the following features: 5.5 inch, 16 GB / 32 GB version, 13MP camera and 3,000 mAh battery. This double duo of style and function is perfect for practically anyone. Check out five reasons why I love the LG G3 and LG Watch from AT&T below.
But First, Let Me Take A Selfie
Located above the display is a 2.1-megapixel camera for taking selfies. The 2.1-megapixel shooter has two modes to make it easy to take selfies. The first detects an open hand, which you clench into a fist to start the countdown timer. This is particularly useful if you’re using a selfie stick, since you likely won’t be able to reach the phone to hit the shutter. Or if you like me and have super long arms, you can tap the screen to simply start a selfie countdown. The front facing camera even comes with a blurring photo-editing feature that smooths out lines, wrinkles and fixes a flaw-filled selfie to perfection, every time.
Leave Your Money In Your Wallet With ISIS
I’ve talked about the power of NFC technology before, I’ve used ISIS wallet with other smartphones and with Apple jumping on the NFC bandwagon with Apple Pay, smartphones are doubling use as credit cards like never before. A simple tap of your smartphone at the register can now buy your coffee, lunch, movie tickets and more! Who wouldn’t love the convenience of an alternate paying system while on the go?
Want to buy lunch, but you’re still in the middle of drafting that email to your boss? The LG G3 lets you use two apps in the same time with its Dual-Window functionality. Harness it by tapping and holding the ‘Back’ on-screen navigation key, or through the button in the task switching menu. Tap on the upper or lower side of the screen to choose which side the window goes to, then tap the app icons, or drag them up or down.
LG G Watch
Who wants to press a button on their watch every time they need quick information? Not me! That’s why I thoroughly enjoy the LG Watch with “Always On” technology powered by Android Wear. Using the Google cards you know and love, this LG Watch has a simple new user experience which provides useful information on your wrist only when you need it. Trying to figure out what time to leave the office to make it to your next appointment on time? Once paired with the LG G3 device, the voice recognition feature intercepted text messages and alerts and let’s be honest, it’s overall a stylish piece a tech that any girl would want to add to her arsenal, right?
Want to learn more? The G3 is the perfect new gadget for “early adopter” types who want the latest and greatest without following the opinions of others. If you’re looking for a powerful handset that’s beautiful and fits seamlessly into your stylish lifestyle you won’t be disappointed with LG’s latest in smartphone and wearable pairings. Discover the LG G3 and G Watch available at AT&T today!
September 19th marks the It CanWait annual day of action. The campaign has inspired more than 5 million pledges to never text and drive and created several initiatives to dissuade texting and driving. I’ve been very involved with this campaign since the inception back in 2012 and have tweeted, taken the pledge against texting while driving and even hosted an event (or two) promoting safe mobile use while on the road.
Recently AT&T has introduced a social tool, “#X”, that fits naturally into texting conversations. It means “I’m checking out while I drive. Back soon.” Its a great way to get the message across that you take safe driving seriously and has already impacted mobile conversations across the world.
In addition to the social tool, AT&T has also empowered Android and iPhone users by giving users 3-step instructions on how to create a shortcut text to use in communication before you drive. No more awkward “Can’t text, I’m driving” texts, using the shortcut instructions your one step closer to sending less texts and spreading the message against texting while driving.
Today, AT&T and its supporters will continue to encourage the public to take the pledge to make a lifelong commitment to never text and drive. In support of the campaign, Demi Lovato has created this PSA to urge her fans to text or tweet #X prior to driving in order to alert their friends that they will be behind the wheel and unable to respond to incoming texts.
The “It Can Wait” campaign continues to encourage mobile users to practice safe texts while on the road and has an entire arsenal of tips and tools online to motivate users of all ages to take the pledge, get involved and share the message of safety with friends and family.
Have you taken the “It Can Wait” pledge yet? Check it out online at ItCanWait.com.

Disclosure: As the author, I have been compensated to share experiences found throughout SXSW 2014 including unique AT&T SXSW activations in Austin however, all opinions are my own.
Every March, creatives of all stripes gather in Austin to witness, share and inspire the visions that will galvanize the filmmakers and ideas of tomorrow. SXSW Film Conference & Festival champions the vitality, innovation and opportunity that drives the entertainment and media landscape, and boldly tackles the evolution of all aspects of “film” today, down to its very definition.
A nexus of discovery and collaborative energy, SXSW Film celebrates the art and business of the possible.Winding down my SXSW experience, I got the chance to check out a variety of film screenings and premiers in Austin. One of my favorite premieres had to be the family-friendly comedy… BAD WORDS.
Jason Bateman makes his directorial debut with the subversive comedy, BAD WORDS. Bateman stars as Guy Trilby, a 40-year old who finds a loophole in the rules of the National Quill Spelling Bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame. As a reporter attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand of ‘Homeland’), who is completely unfazed by Guy’s take-no-prisoners approach to life. The movie also stars Allison Janney, Kathryn Hahn and Phillip Baker Hall. Check out some behind the scenes moments as we talk to the stars about SXSW, BAD WORDS the film and more.
