Do you have the next great app idea? If learning how to code is still on your never-ending to do list, and you’ve been toying around with an idea for the next big mobile app for sometime, then we may have found exactly what you need to jumpstart your dreams.
What’s this dream-solution you ask? Well, it’s called MAGE, or Mobile Application Generation Environment.
MAGE can help you create a mobile application no matter if you’re a beginner or an advanced code pro. That’s right — no programming skills necessary. Kind of like the Squarespace of apps, creating your very own can be as simple as choosing from a pre-designed template, then dragging and dropping the content you want included.
Now there’s no excuse for your business or blog not to have an app. If you have a website that you want to transform into a mobile app, all you have to do is enter in your address and MAGE can pull content, like images and text from your website, and generate a starting application for you to work with. Users can even incorporate lists, tables and menus to their apps. MAGE also provides analytics, so you can keep track of your pageviews and install numbers.
Oh, and did we mention you can create gaming apps, too? Yep! Now you’re one step closer to creating our next mobile distraction.
MAGE is running a Kickstarter campaign to secure funding to amp up its template offerings. They just passed their goal of $10,000. The campaign ends on September 9th, so if this is something that your personal business or side project would majorly benefit from, send some funds their way!

Making a blockbuster concert tour isn't easy, sky-rocketing ticket prices in a recession torn economy makes it harder than ever to purchase tickets to see your favorite acts perform. Let's not even talk about the concert experience nowadays, unless you're at a Beyonce', Jay Z or Justin Timberlake, you won't find many pyrotechnics or displays of in your face entertainment, that is until Grammy® Award-winning, multi-platinum selling, recording artists Drake and Lil Wayne squared off against each other on the opening date their co-headling Drake Vs Lil Wayne Tour at the Darien Lake Performance Arts Center in New York on Friday night.
As the lights dim to begin the show, fans are treated to a “Street Fighter”-inspired intro video which set-up the conflict between the student and teacher. Fans who used the Drake Vs Lil Wayne Tour app prior to the show were able to determine which artist goes first. After numerous rounds of Drake and Lil Wayne hits such as "John" “The Moto,” “Believe Me," and more fans have a front seat for all the action and can send "Power Up" energy using the Drake vs Lil Wayne concert app to their favorite performer.
After a heated final round, fans are instructed to use their app to vote for a winner.
I love the concept of "using" "real time" crowd participation to interact with the show flow of a concert tour. Plus the fact that the app and tour takes on the concept of one of my favorite video games "Street Fighter" by Capcom doesn't hurt either.
Promoted by Live Nation, the tour kicked off on Aug. 8 at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, N.Y. and will make stops in 31 cities across the United States with shows planned in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles. Tickets for remaining shows are on sale now through the Live Nation mobile app and at www.livenation.com.
Could you see more and more concert tours taking on the interactive app approach? Which concert would you like to see with an app soon?

The summer is quickly flying by and so are those amazing summer memories that you’ve captured on your smartphone. Why not do something cool with all your amazing photos and videos (I mean besides uploading them to Instagram) and create awesome videos with the press of a button?
This summer, I’ve been using my new favorite video app Magisto, to do just that. Like magic, Magisto turns your smartphone photos and videos into an amazing montage of memories with music, video transitions and more.
Magisto makes things simple with two large buttons that let you either start shooting a new video or jump straight to your Gallery to sift through existing videos. If you choose to shoot a new video, Magisto jumps to its in-app recorder, which allows you to switch between front-facing and rear-facing cameras. Each time you start and stop recording, your new clip will be saved for use. You can see what clips you've recorded, and easily delete any that you don't want to include in your final compilation video. Once you're done recording, you can hit Next to begin selecting any other media you might want to include in your final edit. The video picker interface lets you look through files in your media library. All you have to do is pick the items you want to include in your final edit and let Magisto find the interesting parts to edit together. Magisto gives you 12 different themes to choose from. There are specialized themes for holidays, as well as more general themes like Street Beats and Sentimental. Each theme comes with a few different soundtrack options, or you can upload your own music for random use throughout your movie. Finally, when you're done with all your files and settings, you can upload your video to Magisto's servers for editing. Check out one of my first Magisto edited videos HERE
or discover the latest video I created and uploaded to Instagram below...
If you sign up for a free Magisto account, you can only upload up to 16 video files, and 5 photos for your final movie, (which is limited to 60 seconds). There’s a drawback though. As a free user, you can’t download your edited movie to your phone. You can only share your masterpiece movie via a link to your video via YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and e-mail. (You can tag people in your videos if you connect your Facebook account) But in order to share to Instagram, you'll have to upgrade to a premium account which is $4.99/ month you can pay $0.99 per movie download.
So if you’re like me and keep tons of photos and videos on your smartphone and no time to sift through and edit them all, you need to check out Magisto to keep your memories forever! Download Magisto today for your Apple or Android device via iTunes
, Google Play
Do you use photo or video editing apps on your phone? Which smart apps do you use for editing and keeping memories fresh for the summer? Share your thoughts below.

Want to create the perfect selfie without having the wing span of a professional basketball player, then the CamMe app was created especially for you.
The iOS app uses gesture controls to help users take selfies from up to 16 feet away — without having to touch their device.
Unlike Snapchat or other photo-taking apps, CamMe relies on gestures to control an iOS device's shutter. To take a selfie, users simply raise their hand and make a fist, which triggers a three-second shutter timer.
The app is a product of Israel-based PointGrab, a company specializing in gesture-recognition software for PCs, televisions and mobile devices.
“It’s our goal to make gesture control available across all platforms, laptops, TVs and mobile," PointGrab CEO Assaf Gad said in a statement. "CamMe is just an example of the easy and practical way gesture technology is becoming a part of every consumer-electronics user’s life.”
Users can also take a photo booth-style selfie, which includes three successive photos that are arranged on a film strip, or a "FunShot," which inserts selfies into colorful cutouts of well-known characters and locations.
Selfie app CamMe won the "most innovative app" award at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Tuesday. The award was one of several given out by MWC organizer GSMA, as part of its 2014 Global Mobile Awards.
CamMe is available in the iOS App Store.

Watching Dr. Oz always leads to great information and products we can use to help us manage our health a little better. We use smartphones to pay bills, monitor our home, and start the car so why not use it to live a healthier life. To add to the list of health and fitness apps like calorie counters, progress trackers, and first aid guides, these wellness apps can help you manage the basics and get prompt medical information right at your fingertips. Well, here is a new one by Dr. Oz – and it’s FREE.
The health dashboard for your iPhone, Dr. Oz AskMD App was launched in December by Dr. Oz and former CEO of HowStuffWorks, helps us keep track of our health, identify symptoms and what might be ailing us. It is to help you be prepared and be a more active patient when visiting your doctor – come prepared, ask questions, track your symptoms. For example, you can enter your symptoms by tapping through a list of questions based on your ailment and the app will tell you the possible causes.
“Toni Pashley, VP of Product, says the goal of the Dr. Oz AskMD App is to not only help people discover what may be bothering them in a given moment, but also to help people better manage and stay ahead of their own healthcare. The app works like a healthcare diary for individuals by providing patients with a tool to enter and store relevant information such as medications and insurance information as well as basic facts, like their blood pressure and cholesterol levels.”
I think it’s a useful tool to help monitor our health and a place where we can store our health data. Where do you right the information you want to share with your doctor? On a sticky note, scrap paper, or do you think you will remember it? I never do and can never find the scrap of paper either. Most important the app is designed to track your symptoms over a period of time giving you a more accurate timeline for symptoms and being able to share it with your doctor. I think it’s worth it. How about you?
App Name: AskMD
Devices: iPhone and iPod Touch

Lets face it, now more than ever before we live in a mobile world where getting work done on the go is a must. When multitasking is the name of the game, being held down to a hard line phone for a conference call is the last thing on my mind. Last week while surviving Snowpocalypse Pax in NYC I decided to re-create my conference call experience in my home office with the addition of a powerful, portable speaker. I hung up my bluetooth earpiece and tested the latest in mobile conference call speaker systems - the Philips WeCall HD Bluetooth Conference Speaker
Who knew a device so compact and small could create a conference room space within my home office? The lightweight WeCall speaker comes out the box already charged and ready to be connected to your iPhone wirelessly via Bluetooth or Mac/PC using the included USB. The setup was relatively easy if you’ve ever paired a device on iOS/Android or Mac/PC before. The USB isn't just for connecting your computer either, it's also the primary way to charge the speaker as well. With a max battery time of 8hrs - one charge should last you at least 8-10 conference calls or 3-4 girlfriend chats (because we all know how a 20-minute chat with your girlfriend can transform into a 2hr chat with your girlfriend in an instant.)
The microphone is what really sets the WeCall apart from it's competitors and standard phone/tablet/computer hardware. Once connected, I noticed that my conference call clarity was far superior using the WeCall than the speakers on my iPhone 5s or the MacBook Air at the same distance. Moments where I’d fade out standing up and walking around on standard hardware, the WeCall would increase sensitivity as I moved away from the mic. This can be attributed to the four omni-directional microphones that can pick up your voice from 360-degrees. Which is perfect if the device is sitting in the middle of a conference room space, or if you tend to walk around during a particular conference call - the WeCall will pick up your voice from more than 3 feet away. Never again will you have to hover over your speaker microphone to ensure a clear, crisp call.
If you're like me when making conference calls, you often want to adjust the volume or mute the call so you can either A.) Talk smack about the person on the other end of the call. B.) Make sure call participants don't hear your television blaring your favorite reality tv show in the background. C.) Hear the "other" call conversation you have going on your other line. The WeCall buttons for hanging up, volume control and muting can easily be found on either corner on the top of the speaker (making it easy to jump back into the conversation the moment your attention lapse or (attendance lapse) has been felt. [Check out the Philips WeCall in action HERE.]
Just in case you need a calendar organizing system to keep a conference call schedule, the WeCall also comes with a free app in the Apple Store. The WeCall App acts as a secondary conference phonebook/calendar which stores numbers and codes for one-touch connection with ease. The WeCall app not only automatically dials into conference calls when they appear on the calendar; it also enters the conference call ID number for the consumer making it the perfect virtual assistant in the office and on the road.
Overall, the Philips WeCall is a great tech addition to any home office or conference room space. No wonder the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has awarded it with the prestigious 2014 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award. As an award recipient for outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products, the Philips WeCall HD Bluetooth Conference Speaker ($149) should definitely be considered the next time you're thinking about upgrading the tech in your office space.

Not all discrimination is blatant. If you think you have a thorough understanding on what racism really feels like, there's a new app that wants to challenge your thinking. Challenge the way you think about racism and look at life through someone else’s eyes. Take the EverydayRacism
challenge and experience what life can be like for ethnic and cultural minorities who face subtle forms of racism every day.
It plays out a little like an alternate-reality game. When you load it up for the first time, you’re asked to choose one of three characters, each of whom was created based on real-life experiences.
Muslim woman Aisha was created with the help of Zubeda Raihman, Mariam Veiszadeth, and Aisha Jabeen; Aboriginal man Patrick was created with the help of Blake Tatafu, Adam Hansen, Nat Heath, and Peter Dawson; and Indian student Vihann was created with the help of Rahul Dhawan, Mridula Amin, and Tanvi Bedi.
When you choose your character, you’ll experience four scenarios randomly spaced out every day for seven days.
These include radio broadcasts, work e-mails, social-network interactions, text messages, and videos. You can then choose how to react to each of these scenarios, whether it’s a co-worker telling you that things are done differently in Australia, a racist Tweet from a friend, or a remark on a Web site comment section. Your choices, however, are limited: two scripted responses, or no response.
You can also play as yourself and witness racism and how it affects the people around you.
It’s an interesting idea and one, we hope, that will help effect positive change in the way people view and respect one another — and possibly extend to app markets in other countries as well.
Everyday Racism is available now for free for iOS

In a concept similar to Uber's , the Vensette app promises to deliver your very own hair and makeup stylists to your front door in a snap.
Vensette employs an army of specially trained hair stylists and makeup artists who are ready to meet clients around New York City. To use Vensette, users choose a look from a curated menu of hair and makeup styles; the company then sends a uniformed hair stylist or makeup artist to their door. While users are encouraged to make appointments in advance, last-minute bookings are also possible, depending on current demand and stylist availability.
Appointments, which start at $150, are guaranteed to be completed in 45 minutes or less by one of Vensette's more than 100 trained and vetted freelance stylists. The vetting process includes multiple interviews, background checks, and in-house hair and makeup tests. Stylists must then complete two days of training to learn the specifics of the styles offered on Vensette's menu.
Vensette's mobile debut is currently limited to New York City, but the app is in beta in Los Angeles, with a formal launch planned for February. Users can get the app for free in Apple's App Store
