The new head of mobile software at Apple, Jony Ive, is already making some exciting, new changes to iOS. But these changes looks to put the launch of iOS 7 behind Apple’s internal schedule. So much that Apple had to pull engineers working on Mac OS X 10.9 to assist in helping it get on time.

According to John Gruber (Daring Fireball), Rene Ritchie (iMore) & various other Apple experts during a Branch conversation, sources who have seen Apple’s refreshed platform had this to say about it:

“Ive’s work is apparently making many people really happy, but will also apparently make rich-texture-loving designers sad.”

Those Apple engineers that are using the developing OS have filters on their phones that decrease the viewing angles of the phone. Gruber has been told the changes in the iOS are very significant.

Apple’s iOS has been pretty much the same since its inception back in 2007 other than the addition of Siri and the Notifications shade.  We are already aware of the new iPhone(s) coming this summer, maybe the iOS will be ready by then.

I am happy to hear possible innovations in Apple’s mobile software. It makes sense that they are working hard on updating iOS. With all the features introduced on the Android flagship phones such as the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4, Apple definitely has to step their game up with iOS 7.

How do you feel about iOS getting a makeover? What changes would you like to see come to iOS 7?
